  1. Not necessarily..."usually" pending then freeze means your bid is likely accepted. 🤞
  2. I guess I was unclear...there's a way to access Move Up on the X site without having to receive an email.... Under Manage Trip (beside Sign In), Click on Upgrade With Move Up. After entering your info, you may be able to input your move up requests.
  3. I so agree. The pb courts in our winter location in Florida are heard morning to night from 2 blocks away; they are the worst plunking noise and you just can't get away from it if you're home most of the day in an outdoor community. They may be popular but these courts should be indoors as they are in our home city and don't bother anyone with the noise.
  4. Don't wait for an email...check the online moveup page.
  5. I read it that you are eligible to bid within the 30 days of sailing (opens up 30 days and sometimes more in my experience), but your actual sailing date is within 21 days of bidding not less. On X online, I've checked the move up site and I was allowed to bid 6 wks. before my cruise, but if my sailing date was 10 days away, I couldn't bid (ship berth planning purposes). Still sounds confusing I know.
  6. I've heard this before...but not for one person researching pricing, but when there are MANY' lookers', the computer system raises pricing according to presumed demand. I think the cruise lines use the same logic.
  7. Exactly...the OC has been my approach as well. I would have a list on hand of dates, restaurant, and times so it went very smoothly.
  8. Amen to that. Returning from a cruise last Nov. we used WJ. DH was in a wheelchair and I had a broken arm (accidents do happen). There was assistance for part of the 'walk', but most of it we were on our own. I just straightened out my arm and PUSHED to the farthest nether regions of terminal 3. That walk confirmed we would never use WJ again, healthy or not. Others may find the walk exercise.
  9. Not sure here, but aren't hot tubs unhealthy for infants and maybe children under a certain age...?
  10. Just reading again through the posts...I'm assuming you're new to the London(ish) area and have never flown out of London or Toronto? I'm a little confused re your question re YYZ. On another thread you seem quite knowledgeable re European destinations and flight information and have lived in Toronto for several years. As to your question 'which is better'...YYZ is very busy but larger than Montreal, however we find it easy to get around. London airport is small and easily accessible with onsite outside parking. As to using just 'carry on', not sure that makes your trip through the airport system faster; backpacks don't take long through customs....it's how much you wish to manage for your trip and that's personal to each.
  11. LOL....I realized that later....just googled it to check proximity to London for driving time to airport.
  12. We live in London and use the 2 available airlines connecting through Toronto and have parked at the airport. We try to book an early flight time with an approx. 2 hr layover time. We haven't had a problem moving through the airport system, even though YYZ is very busy. Our next flight for our cruise leaves early afternoon (AC) as the London departure times are only once a day (right now) so I'd check the timing for dates when you expect to fly out. If it's still early afternoon that may work for you driving from Podunk??(I thought you were kidding, we've never heard of it). Have no experience with Montreal airport but some here prefer it (smaller) and as your embarkation location is NYC flight times may be better for you. Depends on when your cruise leaves and the flight times which connecting airport will be better for you IMO. The driving time on the 401 into Toronto MAY be 2 hrs as there are many new lanes opened recently but accidents happen often and the tie up would preclude you making your flight. When driving into Toronto for a flight we leave late day before, stay at the airport hotel and pay for parking, chalking it up to part of our vacation expense and peace of mind. Hope this helps.
  13. Some truth in that re 'drug addicts, etc'....which I think is a condition in most big cities and yes, Vancouver seems to have the biggest Cdn. problem. However, being a free country and not a police state, these are the unfortunate; I don't believe you should be afraid of being shot or kidnapped. I've seen pics of the LA area and other major US cities re homelessness. It's not isolated to the US and a sad testimony to the lack of welfare everywhere, that is if the folks really do want to work or kick their habit with the available assistance. The point of this topic is safety in Mexican ports...crime, I think you'd agree, is more rampant in Mexico than most countries and the gov't seems unable to curtail it for a variety of reasons. We could go into this deeper, but I choose not to. Just don't want to travel to Mexico and leave other aspects of the universe social/political/economic dilemma out of it.
  14. This restricted area with a blue line and police reference does not make me feel this is a safe port...just the opposite. Given it's reputation in fact, we don't travel there. I know cruisers are protected if they stay within the port secure areas, but road travel/busses to excursions are vulnerable. As far as 150 mi. reference to shootings, I don't feel unsafe in my country. I also don't feel I should not travel to the US, to Europe, to the Caribbean (but travel with caution). Most likely I'll have posters comments re Caribbean robberies, etc and I agree I've read about that happening. But simply crossing over the Mexican border recently, some were confused with drug carriers by the cartel, it's too big a chance. Innocent people have 'disappeared'; even the hotels need major security. We've cruised there many times in the past but not now. Too bad, it's a beautiful country. I wouldn't be surprised if some/most of the ports in future will be taken off the itineraries.. IMO.
  15. Always has for me....it's the Gratuities they have an 'odd' online accounting for; after a few days it's deducted. Go by your booking confirmation invoice and if/when you make changes and the site differs call your agent for an explanation.
  16. That's true. I've had confirmed booking invoices which are correct, but the onsite info isn't. The system is slow to update.
  17. Hi...no increase in points. Re 'perks'...we did receive premium wine and wifi but could have been a one-off (mistake). 🤔 When the move up was accepted our credit card was charged immediately and included the extra gratuities at that time.
  18. No poles, outside or inside in the SS. DH sleeping maybe could have used a support pole 😉... Another sailing we had a corner Aft S1 which had a pole by the bed but wasn't in the way at all.
  19. I've experienced this. If you've JUST booked, wait a few days, the system will remove the gratuities.
  20. OBC on site page went up $50 US, but when I accessed the dining booking page, the $50 didn't show. General message was that some OBC is for onboard only use....may be the reason why...or....it's a system glitch...again!
  21. We booked Feb. 22/23 for Nov. '23 with X agent; just checked and we have an 'extra' $50US in OBC. 🤑
  22. I checked it online as soon as I saw the post and the GREAT price was there...even in Cdn, it was $5400 (for 2) for an Edge suite. Would have jumped at it if the cruise fit ok in our schedule. Someone made a mistake in pricing just as another cruise a few months ago was posted at a ridiculously low price. That one they contacted each booking and took away the pricing.
