  1. Then I guess you are a much more exceptional and remarkable person than I. JMHO (if that counts)
  2. I agree also. Carnival and Royal are much closer than many Royals would like to think. Carnival does have much more "FUN', which has nothing to do with alcohol consumption and more to do with the activities directors and their people getting crowd participation in events. I do prefer Royal over Carnival though. ONLY because we prefer to sail in Suites and the perks and bennies for Suites with Royal far outweigh anything Carnival has to offer. You do pay extra for it though.
  3. Would having a good TA be able to help with these kind of issues?
  4. While I understand the frustration, I don’t understand what “fair” has to do with anything. Life stops being “fair” in kindergarten.
  5. If it wasn’t a big enough problem then, why is it a problem now? Anonymity maybe?
  6. Of course you can all board at the same time. Just plan the day accordingly and arrive to the ship about 2 or 3PM Anyone who has ever been in the military knows that in a convoy, you can only go as fast as the slowest vehicle. Same applies in many other aspects of life. If different levels of groups want to board the ship at the same time, you can only board with the lowest group
  7. I don't think it would be allowed. That little red light that says "Protected" makes me think that it has a surge suppression built in. Those are not allowed on ships. A ships electrical system works differently from a residential electrical system.
  8. That would be something for you to research. We are not familiar with your budget or finances. I would guess that the window could be anywhere from $25 using the train or mass transit system to $250 for a stretch limo car service. In between you have Taxi's, Uber and Lyft.
  9. I wouldn't consider any of these 3 to be "Premium". I just consider these as cruise lines for the mass market. Same class as Royal, NCL, Princess, Disney, and to an extent Carnival. Some may be pricier than others and have a different target demographic, but Premium? Nope. Silver Seas, Regent Seven Seas, Cunard on the other hand
  10. We live north of you in Washington state. We always fly in a bout 2 days early. 1 reason is to acclimate to the new time zone change. 2nd reason is to relax due to the excitement of travel and then jumping on a ship. We just consider the extra travel as part of the vacation. For myself, why worry about what may or may not happen with cancellations or flight delays. Are these potential circumstances under my control? No. Is the possibility a huge potential or a small potential? Are there some things I can do to prepare for the possibility and have potential resolutions on the back burner? Yes
  11. If you purchased your travel insurance from Royal, the insurance does include CFAR (Cancel For Any Reason) and you receive a 75% credit towards a future cruise. It allows you to cancel your cruise For Any Reason at any time up to the ships scheduled departure date and time.
  12. What would Red Foreman say about locking oneself out on the balcony?
  13. Is "zero proof" a regional term? Even Urban Dictionary doesn't recognize the term. I've heard of non-alcoholic, and virgin drinks. Never heard zero proof before this thread.
  14. I only take required medications with me. I also take a couple extra days worth. I also understand that none of my medications are life threatening. In other words, I’m not going to die immediately if I should happen to miss a couple of days of BP medication. I don’t travel with all my vitamins either. Yes, good to take but not necessary for continuation of life if I miss a couple of weeks.
  15. I'm not spending $250 worth of my time to recover $50. Stop showing your intellect by saying stuff out loud. Keep us guessing.
  16. File a claim with both the cruise line and the airline. Both will deny and that's all your looking for. A Denial letters. After you receive the denial letter, then go ahead and file with the travel insurance company. Having said that, is it really worth it? Only you can decide that. Myself, I consider how much my personal time is worth, how much did I spend on my luggage, how many trips did my luggage survive, and other considerations. Luggage takes a beating. If I can get 2 or 3 good trips out of my luggage, it's a write off when it does get damaged.
  17. Contact information for your Travel Insurance policy.
  18. My wife and I are arguing about this question. Is the OP asking if you are roaming while on the ship out at sea? Or, is the OP asking if the phone service considers you to be roaming once out of your normal service area?
  19. Medivacs from the ship are free of charge. They are so specialized that this is done by trained military/coast guard units and is part of an international safety at sea treaty. Cost comes in if you have to be medevac'd to another facility either for life saving measures or for continuation of care. An insurance broker who frequents the cruise insurance page says the biggest bill he's ever seen for evacuation was about $125K.
  20. Depends on where you're going, what current coverages you may have, and what your risk tolerance is. Myself? I go for a min of $100K (Primary) medical and $250K Evac. I self-insure the cost of cancellation.
  21. A MedJet policy is also discounted if you go thru AARP
  22. Roll up the carpets and close the doors by 9PM? No Will there be entertainment until 1,2 AM? Yes However, cruises are just like anything else in life and the atmosphere therein. Caribbean cruises are about sunshine, beaches, umbrellas and sunshine. With a little history thrown in. Mediterranean cruises are all about history with a little sunshine and beaches thrown in. Alaska cruises are all about scenery, wildlife, history with zero to very little beach thrown in
  23. I'm thinking The Conrad is a little bit more than just "a Hilton property".... LOL
  24. Could have been a mis-communications situation. English is my first language and if someone said to me "I would like a zero proof pirate punch", I would be confused as hell. I can only imagine what someone who's English is their second or third language might be thinking.
