  1. As others have noted, the refund is mandatory. This is based on how the cruise line does the faring of the voyage. Princess and most other cruise line make port fees a separate invoice line item and when this is done the fees must be returned - this also applies if a passenger cancels the voyage beyond all penalty periods. Some cruise lines, eg Oceana the fees are built into the cruise fair as a single line item and for missed ports on their voyages they get away with doing no refund.
  2. The time to get items back is usually 2 or 3 days - depends on the # of elite on board. Your steward will advise you. as well as let you know the last time you can submit items. Things that are normally on hangers will be on hangers and be ironed. Items like socks and underwear are folded in a bag. We have about 500 days as elite and have had a few issue but not too many - Cotton shirts have been damaged a couple items and a coupe times have received other peoples items with ours missing
  3. I'm sure there was a fair number of guest that never eat the chocolates - the easy solution is to have steward ask the first day or give them the first night with a note that if guest wants more nights to leave the note on the bed/pillow. No waste that way and others are happy.
  4. It is usually done on the first turn around day in December. An outside company comes on board and does it all before sail-away. Decorations are usually taken down on the first turnaround day after New Years. ,
  5. Up to this point the Island P has not done a world cruise, The last similar voyage was on the Pacific Princess which only had around 30% of the passenger count vs the 2,200 on the Island. The expanded passenger count gives a lot more opportunity for those doing segments. The 2023 voyage has a very active roll call most of whom are doing the full voyage. Several other cruise lines sold out their world cruises on day one of availability for 2023 - they mostly are using smaller ships. There is a lot of bent up demand for next year due to a few years of cancellation for these voyages
  6. This cruise is the first segment of the 2023 world cruise which can make a big difference in demand for the voyage
  7. I was on the phone with Princess at 11 Eastern and booked a Island and Enchanted cruise but no Sky Caribbean voyages are available for booking. The agent says they show up on her system but she can't access them. Supervisor had no info. Agent has my request and will make them when ship becomes available.
  8. Post 14 covers the many items that go into the port fee calculation. The fee is usually calculated when the itinerary is first released and cost can change. Besides the actual items in post 14. exchange rates can impact the cost to the cruise line. With around 60 cruises I think we have only had a couple increase.
  9. The itineraries are in the attachments in post #2 - no times in port but has the ports. I would expect them to be on-line on Tuesday but if you call and are not elite you would not be able to book.
  10. The Coral and Island dinning rooms are very near identical. One has a section held for Club Class dining but nothing else really noticeable. Staff may rotate table areas from cruise to cruise so if doing B2B and sitting in the same table you may have different servers. The Piazza is just outside the Island dinning room and there is often live music there, as well as bar service so that may impact some people for some pre dinner time. Earlier this year the Palm dinning room was closed due to low passenger counts. It used to be all fixed time dinning but that is no longer the case. The menu and service would be the same as the other 2 restaurants. The possible down side of the Palm for some people is there is nowhere to go just outside the restaurant - you have to take the elevator or stairs up to at least deck 6 to go anywhere else.
  11. When I use the link above and enter my name/birthday and booking number I get message This booking has already been claimed. No idea what this means as I have not entered any details for this cruise.
  12. Just tried the link in post 8 - I entered language and sign in detail and system just sits there saying "loading" for 15 minutes
  13. I've been trying many times to use the "try our web version " over the last 2 months for our cruise coming up on Wednesday and have not bee able to get it to work. Originally the error I was getting was that they could not find the booking. Recently the program tries to link my booking and says the booking number is already linked and will not let me go beyond that. I'm now at a poijt where I just plan to show up in Vancouver with all my documents.
  14. I have not used ArriveCan before and am wanting to make sure I understand my requirements. I am travelling from Toronto to Vancouver next week and then cruising 7 days up to Alaska and then 7 days return voyage to Vancouver. Is it correct I need to fill it out 72 hours or more prior to boarding the ship in Vancouver and that covers the trip? Is it correct I can fill it out online without an app and print out something to show it was done? Thanks
  15. Thanks for the first part of your review. We will be on from July 6 to 20. I wondering how many passengers were on the Grand for your voyage.
  16. I wondering if anyone has done this show in a wheelchair. My wife is in a wheelchair and her eyesight is not great so I would like to know if the special seating area is way at the back or are they up near the front.
  17. Thanks for the detailed review - we will be doing the same in 3 weeks. With all the recent changes, I just wanted to be clear - looks like you had no Covid test during the cruise or before flying home - Correct?
  18. Getting on the ship early gives you more time on the ship to do whatever you want with the extra time. It gives you an advantage in booking some items that are potentially in short supply --eg Special dinning or the Sanctuary. Getting on early increases the odds of getting your luggage faster. Getting on late usually means less crowds in the check-in area.
  19. I have tried this multiple times today and can't get anywhere past entering name and password. Will try tomorrow
  20. Very glad to see someone doing a live from the Grand. We are doing the north and southbound in July for our first Alaskan cruise. How did you get from the airport to the cruise terminal? I'm thinking of taking the train that goes to downtown near the port. My wife is in a wheelchair and I 'm looking for the easiest way. How many passengers on the ship for this cruise?
  21. There has been several post recently asking the same question. Princess has not provided dates to travel agents yet. My guess is that with the new, increased beverage packages they are waiting so that everyone has to book at the new prices.
  22. "new bookings only on select cruises sailing in 2022 and must be booked by December 31, 2022." It is amazing that they will not let you book 2022 cruises after Dec 31 2022 and get the discount
  23. Now we know why Princess is holding back on releasing fall/winter Caribbean voyages. They would have been normally released a least a month ago but by holding back everybody wanting the package will have to pay the new price.
  24. We saw them a few years back on a Princess ship and I found 3 this March on the Caribbean P. I re-circulated 2 of them and brought home the Pirate duck.
