  1. Looks like this was filmed early morning, before everything was open up for business. It’s more alive later
  2. There are no parks/gardens within a walk of the port. But there are small bars, shops, stalls, jewellery stores and a mini-market within, the port area. Then, 15/20 minutes walk one is in the main town and beach area, where there are many, many shops, bars, restaurants and the list goes on……. If seeking a very special bottle of Malt or Blended Scotch, Rhum, Rum, Rye etc, then take a stop at GULMHORS on Front Street in the town centre. One can’t get lost, as one can see the ship from the town. On the return to ship one can flag down a shared shuttle for about $4 pp, who ply their trade down Front Street. Or take the water taxi.
  3. What is the “do” one would consider of interest? People can have different requirements.
  4. No need to worry. Cunard treat their guests as responsible adults. On embarkation previously taken onboard 16 bottles (noted others exceeding this) Personal record for a port is 27 bottles Most amusement for a port 12 bottles plus 1 barrel at Fort de France Not forgetting one’s liqueurs, Port, Sherry, beers, lagers, mixers, sodas etc. etc as required A trolley or sack barrow can be utilised to save any heavy carrying.
  5. No need to do one’s own pressing, as a good Dry Cleaners could collect clean/press and return. Same onboard, when unpacking just pay people to press Tux, Suits, Jackets and Trousers etc prior to wearing.
  6. Good point. But add, currently Lines could possibly have no wish to pay additional dollars for any software upgrades to standard “off the shelf” packages, thereby not giving pax what was previously seen on screens.
  7. Agree on the self tie (4 off), but not forgetting the selection of Cufflinks (some with matching studs), Formal shoes (3 pairs - one for each Tux) and Formal dress watches. All add to the character.
  8. Could be cost saving….. Increasing fares, then cutting one of the overall experiences, hoping nobody will notice. When noted (as one has) the response will be a shoulder shrug, with no credible explanation. For example, it’s the same with current dining offerings (shrug) and the ongoing saga of FCDs (shrug).
  9. 1. One did not say it was. 2. If one chooses to dress Formally every evening, except the first night, this is not confusing.
  10. In addition to this, there are many pax with their own individual variants of their interpretations of a multitude of dictionary interpretations. A minefield which will never be solved. Best to revert back to the days of simple dress codes 1. Jacket/Blazer, with/without tie, trousers (Casual/Relaxed) 2. Suit with tie (Semi-Formal) 3 Tux (Formal) Or Formal every evening. Easy to remember and enforce.
  11. A “stand out” Hawaiian shirt in the QG Dining Room on Cunard could start a craze… Go for it! The published evening dress code on Cunard is a minimum requirement.
  12. As an aside thought….. The BC has the newer and more striking BC dining room and possibly a BC stateroom could give one a better balcony position.
  13. Through the canal? Starboard will have more countryside views, port more industrial. But the best (IMHO) views are from the stern, as one can take in the whole open vistas from port to starboard. Lemmings will be up at dawn to grab a position close to the bow. Previously explained to one, from a conversation in Commodore, that the best position is aft of deck 10, there is a single row of chairs and tables, with backs to the lifts lobby. Take the chair/s and move it towards the ship’s rail, otherwise those standing will deliberately block one’s view. There will be plenty of space for pedestrians to walk behind, also this position is close to the Lido.
  14. Shareholder Benefit must be claimed at least 3 weeks prior to sailing https://www.carnivalcorp.com/static-files/50351a91-4dc0-4f6b-bfec-684647e6129f Fizz…. Never had a problem, having purchased locally prior to boarding.
  15. S.H.T. usually walk there and back. Posters in CC say it’s about 15/20 minutes each way.
  16. As an observer, suggest one contacts the US Embassy as a web chat answer may not be correct.
  17. Just for the hell of it, we (along with friends) have met up for Sunday lunch in Le Touquet (Loups), stopping quickly at Carrefour on the round-a-bout just outside on our return. A “why not” thought?
  18. So one checks, up/down, both sides, opening all the privacy closures, looking for a unoccupied box, finding one complete with drinks, believing it’s reserved, demanding all table items removed, when the guests are possibly visiting friends in an adjacent box, or taking a comfort break.
  19. Agree to day trip. As an aside… Now the worst of COVID has hopefully passed, we are to resume our Lunch and Wine and Cheese etc day trips. And if anyone wishes to replicate, traditionally we take lunch at https://www.lasirene-capgrisnez.com Their Price Fix and service being very good, plus the cheese board is excellent, being very local. Not forgetting the special direct sea views from one’s table. Then off to La Maison of Wine and Cheese, followed by Cité Europe etc and a train back. Yes, one does exceed the posted allowances
  20. Even though many other boxes were available? One’s mindset is understood.
  21. First come could leave Ice Bucket, fizz, glasses, possibly nibbles, chairs parked and entrance shut.
  22. Never seen the ability to book pre-cruise. The easiest method, if not in Grills, is to ask one’s MD who will be happy telephone the appropriate person and book on one’s behalf.
  23. It may have changed (drinks). But a little tip. The boxes were attended by a drinks wait team, who were pleased for one’s regular box drinks orders. Have a discreet word, plus an appreciation, for the “reservation” of a particular box on non-Gala nights, then there should will be no need for a vary early pre-show rush and grab. Up stairway, along floor, no space, back, up, repeat. On these evenings boxes appeared to be popular with those wishing not to follow the published dress code, entering the Theatre box unobserved via the deck 1 “rat runs”. The stairways to the entrances of boxes, on multiple levels, are a tad steep and narrowish, so people with mobility issues should be aware.
