Thanks for our Thursday Daily, Rich. Nice collection of days. A waterpark would fit in well with the heat. I like the quote today and the meal would be good sans chick peas. Looking forward to hearing about the wine (it’s white 😉). We’ve been to Portland once and, like Roy on the EE. Did a lovely private tour and enjoyed the day and area very much. Busy day yesterday trying to get Shadow to eat and drink (I succeeded). She is one nervous nilly. Has to be picked up to be taken out and brought in right now. That will hopefully change with time. She was petrified going in the kennel last night. I think she thought she was going on another plane ride. She finally plopped exhausted in the front hall. So I decided to put my “dog ears” on for movement put some towels down on the floor “in case” and stayed with her downstairs. She’s very sweet - and it’s going to take time (and patience) and hopefully I can help her. Thanks for all the wonderful well wishes and welcomes yesterday. Shadow has been exposed to a bit of English with her foster in Egypt. I don’t know if she knows much but - If she doesn’t know certain words - I am sure she will learn quickly. These dogs are very smart and quick (so they say).

Thanks for our Hump Day Daily, Rich. Well, I won’t be taking any houseplants for a walk today but depending on how she is when she arrives, with luck I will take Shadow for a little one. Love bagpipes - especially arriving on a BHB. I’ll pass on the stilts - I’d fall 😂 Love Camus’ quote. So true. @0106an especially good job today. Conchas are difficult to make. It’s one thing I failed at and they are delicious. Looks like a “win win” day with the meal and the wine. Thanks @cat shepardfor the description. Been to St. Petersburg twice. The first time we did HAL tours. The 2nd time we did private - BIG difference and saw so much more with fewer lines. Definitely private is better in this city. I’m glad we went when we did - I doubt I would ever want to go now after what they have done to Ukraine 😡 I meant to get back to the Daily yesterday and multi quote a slew of people but time got away on me. Sorry. I was busy putting a kennel together, fluffing up a new bed and cooking chicken and rice broth. Yup, Shadow is in the air and on the way here. Thanks for our Tuesday Daily, Rich. All or nothing day? I’ll be celebrating that today trying to get it “all” done in case. I was blessed with wonderful aunts and uncles who I enjoyed and loved very much. RIP. I like the quote - but then again, I liked Lewis’ books and still have the complete works of the Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe in my library. The cake sounds good 🤞 Been to Polynesia but not today’s port. Our storm, high wind and tornado warnings for last night were all for naught. We had some winds (nothing I call serious) but no rain 😔 it is still muggy out despite the forecast. GRRRR. I have a couple of time consuming appointments this morning and then a ton of prep stuff to take care of when I get home. The time line may have been moved up even more. Shawdow is now in Toronto with temp fosters. Here she is at the Egyptian airport getting ready to go (private photos - think it’s safe to post them here 😉) It’s quite the operation they have - they are moving dogs out as fast as they can before Canada closes the border. ETA? Not sure yet - they are seeing if they can get on a flight tomorrow instead of driving her. If they can, she will be here tomorrow sometime. If not it will be a few days. So, It’s all or nothing day for me to get it as much done as I can “in case”. As you can tell my other clematis have all started blooming. They are usually before the other one - but it’s a weird year 😉 Prayers for everyone on the Care list & for those that need them and a 🥂 to everyone on the Celebratory / Shout Out list. Hope your wait is not too long 🤞 I have ordered gifts with only the name, ship and embarkation date online and by phone. When you call, they confirm they are going to be on board. Fair warning - gifts show up on their “itinerary” so I tend to order later - close to cruise time - when hopefully they aren’t printing off their itinerary or looking at it 😉

A win win! A “cool” breeze arrived last night and it sure felt like rain - nope - guess I should have watered 😔. Another heat & humidex warning for today with t-storm warnings for later. Seems like a repeat weather report for the last 4 days! @marshhawkthere’s been little difference in what I pack for a 10 day cruise or a 30 day one. Use laundry, mix and match, etc 😉 The only complication happens when there is a mix of weather (hot to very cold) on the same trip. The dahlias are happy with the weather though. There’s a big difference between a deck and paver-stone on a patio and a sidewalk & pavement. If you can’t step on the pavement in your bare feet or hold your hand on it (for at least 30 seconds to a minute) your dog should not be on it. If I still had my dogs, we would take a short walk later but it would be on my neighbour’s grass (they understand). But with today’s weather they would only be out for ‘business’ until the sun was lower and the temps dropped. Sadie is just a young pup and she is subject to heat stroke even more than an adult. I don’t know how hot is there - but this is the gage I use. I know few dogs that will wear boots or covering in hot weather and since one of the only place dogs sweat is through their feet (Paws) - that’s debatable. I never used them in 22 years. Heat is traumatic for a puppy. Her walk needs to be early AM or late PM (or both) if it is hot. Forgive me - I don’t mean to sound like a lecturer - but this is something I know about - heat is nearly more dangerous for dogs than cold. Mea culpa for the long post.

Thanks - I hope so. Absolutely - it’s basically “train the trainer”. Sadly there are no courses for a dog of Shadow’s age so we’ll see how I can do. LOL OMG she looks petrified - like the first time I tried to take Fox years ago. Fortunately she had the boys and I couldn’t deprive those two of the walk so she came along as she literally dug her claws into the pavement. If Sadie is hot a lot, I”m wondering is it’s too hot for her for a walk if she is susceptible? Just a wild and crazy thought.

Oh yes, it is soon - sooner than originally thought. I like that she’s being driven rather than flown again. Much easier on the dog IMO. Hopefully she will be happy - a bit of trepidation on training her. LOL. I so very sorry to hear this, Gerry 😔. Prayers for him, his family and friends - including you two. 🙏🏻 It seems we are losing too many good people lately 😢

@Sharon in AZnot sure on Shadow’s ETA - she leaves Egypt on the 26th and will be picked up in Toronto by designated temp fosters. My condolences on your loss @wesport. And, congratulations on taking the step of cruising on your own. When HAL offered a sale, I found a cruise that had a reduced rate for solos. Now, to get it you had to do the “best price” option (non-refundable deposit). I simply did my cancellation insurance and booked. After booking, I had the Have it All package added at a reduced price. It worked out a LOT cheaper than if I had booked the regular HIA cruise. You definitely have to look at all the different options.

At long last, the begonias have started blooming. They are late this year but they are massive, so that might be why. A very happy birthday to David. I hope he soon recovers from Covid 🤞 LOL - a dog hasn’t been upstairs in 22 years. Our first puppy was allowed up until we realized he had separation anxiety. We got that fixed but if he got into the bedroom it exacerbated it. He destroyed every pillow on the bed and sitting room. LOL. The steps are now hardwood and so far, the dogs haven’t wanted to use them - they were nervous about slipping on the way down 😉 LOL - she better not like being in my gardens too much 😉. There’s a big back yard and deck she is welcome too. Not sure how I will train a nervous nilly on petsafe invisible fencing. The gardens are protected 😉 or, at least they have been. 😉

Thanks for our TGIF Daily, Rich. Can’t celebrate much for these days - no hammock & dislike spoonerisms. A good hot day for leisure but I do have stuff to do outside. I’ll be leisurely later when it’s too hot 😉 Not sure about the quote and will have to wait for the meal description. The wine sounds intriguing. Another hot & humid one today - the day lilies are very happy and starting to bloom in full force. A bunch of dead heading and weeding is in the morning plans along with more sorting and packing up of stuff. @StLouisCruiserscongrats to your team.
