  1. Large modern cruise ships really do not move around much, they are big enough to bridge multiple waves. Last 3 cruises I have been on, Divina, Freedom and Meraviglia have all been very smooth. Even when Divina was being pounded by 50 knot side winds, she was still maintaining 22 knots and had more of a determined slight shudder rather than the pitching and swaying of olde. Also, I don't know if anyone else has noticed this....I have to stay away from coffee before and during a cruise otherwise I do feel sick if it is rough.
  2. We found the Horizon bar was the best run, and even they had a brand new kid being trained. He did not seem old enough to drink and had no idea of any drinks at all. The pub was OK too but under staffed. Oh and the idiot guy that wanted to punch me out because I pointed out he had pushed in front of me.
  3. I'm sure Wärtsilä (engines) or GE Marine electrical equipment will be covering that service call.
  4. Is this the first software error to ever stop a cruise ship ? Good lord, what has the world come to. In the olde days, I noticed a melted down cylinder head outside the engine room door of the Caribe1. That is a proper breakdown lol
  5. Best cruise we have ever been on. Gutted when her return to the USA was cancelled. Even worse was them not telling us until it was blatantly obvious, even Dr Spock could not have teleported her over in time lol
  6. From Carnival - "there will be no compensation for missed ports, beyond a refund of any pre-purchased Carnival shore excursions and the taxes, fees and port expenses paid for the cancelled port." I did not find anything from MSC/NCL or RCCL directly, just various forums and blogs that were 50/50 on it lol. Bret, what is the current practice of MSC for port charges refunds ?
  7. The family need to give the running of the USA based ships over to American AND European travel professionals, not bean counters. The ship side of things is already there with well run ships that are clean and beautiful, even the oldest, Armonia is in fantastic condition and in her own understated way a great "smaller" ship to spend time on. Only then with high customer satisfaction can they be biggest and best.
  8. When the ship misses a port, they automatically refund the port fee's anyway. Sounds more like they over charged to begin with.
  9. MSC are filling the ships at any cost, fine short term plan but a potentially bad plan long term...but when has poor planning and service stopped them before !!! The most hurtful part to me is that their ships are the most gorgeous and well maintained at sea and it is a pity to see the riff raff acting up in such nice surroundings.
  10. Cruising out of Port Canaveral looks better and better each day. I am getting emails from MSC, the marketing department have gone into high gear with great offers, they must be trying to fill ships.
  11. We found the same thing on Meraviglia on the 3 night cruise, we assumed it was a booze cruise mentality but now I wonder if it is low pricing attracting.....well however you want to say it. Fla Mike posting the same thoughts at the same time as me !!!!
  12. Oh man you are making me jealous. We enjoyed our little Meraviglia cruise as far as we could but decided that Divina is our favorite ship, maybe because we are so familiar with it after 3 cruises. Well except the wonderful Cuba cruise we had on Armonia. Do you remember Jason from South Africa from our last Divina cruise ? Well he is on Meraviglia now and after the 2nd night I remembered him. Had a nice chat, super nice guy.
  13. 3 night cruise out of Port Canaveral, park the truck and 2 min walk to the ship...fabulous. They charge $17 per day, yeah not bad for the convenience. I just looked at my ticket and see that I got charged for 4 days. Yes I note that they tell you that you will be charged for each day whether full day or not. But I was only actually parked for 2d, 18h, 45min and the total charge is for 4 days at $17 so $68 plus tax. Worth considering this when you are deciding between convenience/time and price compared to off site parking.
  14. I am Gold and my M8forlife is Blue, we both got in no problem whatsoever this just passed cruise.
  15. We are on today's sailing too, sad news indeed. Hey Bret, would like to meet up with you if at all possible. Thanks M8.
  16. This can work on all cruise lines, flights and hotels. I always check logged in, logged out and private/incognito.
  17. That is AI playing silly buggers with you. Find the cabin you want without logging in, start the booking and then login during the booking process...I think that is an option. Or just book it then call in.
  18. Any idea on theme nights for the 3 night cruise (15th to 18th) on Mera......gotta find out the spelling and how you say it LOL I'm thinking Thurs - casual Fri - casual or Italian Sat - Formal
  19. I could not get my boarding pass/luggage tags from the website last week or yesterday, it kept coming up with an error. I called into their superb 😂 CS why also could not get anything to work. 10:30 last night they magically appeared in my email, everything fine. Going on Meraviglia Thursday 🤩
  20. As a Brit expat now in Florida, I have to say you are the most British writing person I know on the interwebs !!!! Great review, thanks.
  21. What ship and date are we talking about ? Typical MSC but at least the ships are beautiful.
  22. All hospitality is suffering the same staffing and supplies issues. Any hotel or restaurant I have been into in the past 2 years it is painfully obvious. Maybe if MSC adopted the Chick-fil-a or Ikea philosophy for customer service, they could make a killing (and probably take out Carnival in the process) First time on Poesia in 2012, stunned by how beautiful and well kept she was. Loved how fantastic the Divina is, been on her 3 times. Absolutely blown away by how elegant the Armonia was, plus the absolute best staff I have ever had on a cruise...by a country mile. So looking forward to Meravialia as she looks marvelous.
  23. Mazda CX9 is indeed a fine land ship, almost as beautiful as MSC ships !!! Going on Meraviglia for a 3 dayer on December 15th. Could not take more time off 😬
  24. Me and the kids enjoyed our little Freedom run in August. Her funnel is so cute although I think that engine is still acting up sometimes.
