  1. Hopefully, there will not be a lot of blocking today with Eurodam first and Koningsdam getting the AS dock. Princess will get coverage for a while but it should not be a huge distraction. Roy
  2. Today's sunrise is from 2010. On June 19 I was at the training center at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. Roy

  4. Wishing everyone a meaningful Junteenth. Thank you Rich, Vanessa, Debbie, Dixie, and Ann. I'll pass on the days but endorse the Eliot quote and celebrate the contributions of the Bobbies. I've been to Puerto twice, Crystal Symphony in 2016 and Elegant Explorer in 2019. I'll pass on the Chili. My alternative is Chilled Pear, Cucumber, and Melon Gazpacho, Classic Caesar Salad, and Sauteed Pork Chop as served on MS Prinsendam June 3, 2015. @Cruzin Terri I think it's good advice to try to get outside at least for a little while to help reset your body clock. Code Orange air quality today so I headed off to the Mall to complete my walk before the crowds arrived, Roy
  5. I have another land based sunrise from last year. This was taken June 18, 2022 from the grounds of the middle school across the street from me. Roy

  7. Happy Fathers Day to all our Dailyite Fathers. Thank you Rich, Vanessa, Debbie, Dixie, Ann, and Graham. I've never been a fisherman. I tried it a bit as a child but had no luck and found it very boring. I try not to panic. I don't really picnic but do often get take-out and look for a table in a nice outdoor setting, and on a BHB I will often get food in the lido and head to the aft deck. I love the Gandhi quote but will pass on the meal. Amelia Earhart was a true pioneer. I've been to Rotterdam just once, my first modern HAL cruise, arriving on Rotterdam VI and spending a couple of nights on Rotterdam V. I'm drawing a blank today on an alternate meal suggestion. Roy
  8. I hope you can check in for your connectio from within the secure part of JFK. Still, nice not to need to deal with luggage. Roy
  9. Me too. I dined there several times on both ships. I have never been on a ship in late June. Today's sunrise is from last year in my neighborhood: Roy

  11. Thank you Rich, Vanessa, Debbie, Ann, and Dixie. I do eat my veggies and have had some interesting road trips. I wonder if Luke Burrage is still juggling on BHB's. Sir Francis Drake really got around. I love the Chamfort quote but I think Colon last year on the Eurodam is the first time I ever visited a port without even briefly getting off the ship. OK for reboarding after a mid-canal excursion but not a place I liked being. I'd take the burger without the mushrooms. My alternative is a custom lido omelet as was part of my final meal on my Prinsendam 2015 European cruise (the photo is from the Eurodam last November): Roy
  12. That's it. Thanks Leanne, Lou & Dave, and Carole. Have a great weekend. Roy
  13. Your view may be somewhat different. I assume the 2 ships are Rotterdam and Nieuw Statendam, and they use different lifeboat setups. The boats on the first 2 pinnacles stuck out and were prohibited from using the Panama Canal because they interfered with the pilots' views. The Rotterdam updated the lifeboat mounting design. I think they may not normally differ much but they apparently can be retracted closer to the cabin to allow the canal passage. Roy
  14. Not sure how much good the shake did. Roy
  15. Yes, it looks like a quick look at best. Roy
  16. I've been fortunate to have been able to visit some of the world's greatest waterfalls, but I started out a bit simpler. While growing up I often visited Chittenango Falls in Central, the highlight of a state park there: I know I visited Niagara Falls as a youth but my photos are 2011. I was applying for a NEXUS card which required an in person visit with officials at a border station. The easiest for me was Niagara Falls, where I stopped on a side trip to my 50-year high school reunion: I visited Victoria Falls on an extension of a 2005 Rovos Rail Journey: Finally, I got to Iguazu on a short trip in 2017 between cruises on Crystal Serenity and Zaandam out of Buenos Aires: The first day we toured the Argentine side: The next day from the Brazilian side:
  17. Once again, today's sunrise is from my 2015 Prinsendam European voyage. June 16 we visited our final port of Zeebrugge: Roy

  19. Thank you Rich, Vanessa, Debbie, Dixie, and Ann for the TGIF Fleet Report and Daily. My veggies are usually frozen, Nursing Assistants are true super heroes, and I've been blessed to see many wonderful waterfalls. I love the Russell quote but have not been to Arlie Beach. Valentina Tereshkova is a true pioneer and today women have become essential in space. I'm pretty sure Fluke is a fish so I'll pass. My alternative is Chilled Peach Soup with Goat Cheese, Lamb Shank, and Upside Pear Crunch Coffee Cake, my final dinner on my 2015 Prinsendam European cruise on June 16. Off soon to Wegmans and hope to be home before we get rain. Roy
  20. Quick question. Do all Cunard ships use the "step test" for tendering or is it just QM2? Roy
  21. Raining now in Juneau and Nieuw Amsterdam is almost out of the Gastineau. Roy
