  1. Not a good sign that the webcam is looking to sea. .. But miracles happen. Roy
  2. I have a sunset today rather than a sunrise. It's from my 2017 Zaandam cruise from Buenos Aires to San Diego. On April 8 we visited Pisco. Roy

  4. That's an excellent choice. The one weakness is there is no glacier viewing by ship so I strongly encourage taking the Tracy Arm tour if it is available. You rendezview with a small boat at the entry to Tracy Arm late morning and go deep into the fjords and get a very up close and personal look at the glaciers while enjoying snacks and lunch. The rendezview with the boat is late morning and then the boat returns you to the ship in time for dinner. You do not get a lot of time in Juneau but the ship does not leave until late evening so you can see a little bit of the capitol before you leave. It isn't a cheap tour but I think WELL worth it. Roy
  5. Another note on Amber Cove after reviewing my Koningsdam blog. While Puerto Plata is a regular and active cruise port (and just 5 miles away) I think one of the incentives for Carnival setting up Amber Cove is as a base for the short lived Fathom division designed for cruises to Cuba. Roy
  6. Thank you Rich, Sandi (and Happy Birthday), Vanessa, Debbie, Dixie, and Ann. Having seen the explanation of All is Ours Day I like it but am concerned that we need to do a better job of taking care of it. I'll pass on drawing pictures and enjoy zoos but the closest thing I've been to in years is the aviary at Cartagena. We do not really do anything todat, and the service @Lady Hudson was very similar to the service I attended for Maundy Thursday. I love the Lincoln quote. . Lots of distractions, Nieuw Statendam arriving in Port Everglades and then Amera arriving in New York. I didn't catch Amera actually going under the bridge but was stunned at how much clearance there was. Kind of fits in with how she is one of the few cruise ships going through the Kiel Canal. And later arriving at the terminal without fanfare: The meal looks interesting. My alternative is Caramelized Orange and Grapefruit Cocktail, Chilled Strawberry Bisque and Chicken Breast with Israeli Couscous as served on MS Zaandam April 8, 2017. Roy
  7. I think coverage is still better on the first webcam and the ship will zigzag out of view from the Harbor webcam but then should be followed right to the bridge. Roy
  8. @grapau27 I see you noticed that I posted your video over on the Crystal Forum. The tradition there is that there was not a lot of hype on sailaways when we left a port but "What A Wonderful World" was always played over the PA system as we left a port, so it is very special to Crystal cruisers. Roy
  9. Something I feel a need to share from the HAL forum. You may be a bit surprised if you click on the video,
  10. At least if you're back early you won't be left behind. Roy
  11. Today's sunrise is from my 2014 MS Amsterdam voyage returning to Fort Lauderdale after disembarking Crystal Serenity in Cape Town. April 7 was a sea day from Walvis Bay to St. Helena: Roy

  13. Rotterdam is in New York today until (4PM) @Vict0riann just posted the ship's program and All Aboard is 5PM so departure should be around 5:30. It is currently centered on the Port of New York webcam: https://www.portnywebcam.com/ When she leaves the camera MAY follow her down the Hudson. She will then pass into the view of the other New York Webcam based on Staten Island: https://www.nyharborwebcam.com/ Roy
  14. TGIF and I expect most of us will be celebrating Good Friday, Passover, or Ramadan. I'll pass on the other 3 days but celebrate Bach and love the quote. I've been to Saint John a few times. It's also the Orioles Home Opener and a celebration of the opening of Baltimore's new arena. The home opener was supposed to be yesterday but postponed due to expected storms which probably would have held off until after the game (forecast for 2PM but actually did not happen until almost 7). Today will be calm but with a high of about 60. I'll pass on the Swordfish. My alternative is Chilled Peach and Ginger Soup, Rustic Home Made Lasagna, and Peach Crisp as served on MS Zaandam April 6, 2017: Roy
  15. I mentioned earlier that the Elegant Explorer is in Baltimore today. There are not a lot of good viewing spots but I did find one at Masonville Cove Environmental Education Center. It's not easy to get and I found an easier one on the way home but the sight lines are quite good: The weather so far has been very good but storms are expected any time now, Looks like better than New York but at least the Rotterdam is still there tomorrow. Roy
  16. Today's sunrise is another from my 2013 Queen Elizabeth transatlantic. April 6 was the last sea day before reaching Southampton. Roy

  19. Thank you Rich, Sandi, Vanessa, Debbie,Ann, and Dixie. Great to see Rotterdam in New York. Amera is in Baltimore today and I may try to grab a peek. I am way behind in my walking ever since my hospital visit. Poppies are beautiful and I love tartan with my Scottish heritage but do not have much. I love the quote and have been to Grand Cayman several times. There will be thunderstorms this afternoon but they should end before I head for Maundy Thursday service this evening I like pork but probably not stir fry.. My alternative is Chilled Coconut Nutmeg Soup, New York Sirloin Steak, and Tiramisu as served on MS Amsterdam April 6, 2014. Roy
