  1. I was wondering where you went. Your expertise has been missed, particularly in the Upgrade plus thread. In your view is Celebrity comparable or better to the old NCL?
  2. Isn't it? If you grab and spin the earth you can see the lack of Starlink satellites over both poles.
  3. Agree with your explanation. To add: Starlink will be far superior. There are over 2000 satellites. These are low earth orbit which means low latency. Space X is adding more satellites virtually every week. Service will get better and better. Here is a live map of the current Starlink satellites in orbit. You can see adequate coverage for Alaska cruises is still lacking. https://satellitemap.space/
  4. They're great for those of us who try to reduce our intake of empty carbs and calories where we can.
  5. We like a cool room to sleep in as well. I had assumed people that left their balcony door open didn't know they were having a negative effect on their neighbors. Now I know that's not always the case. 😮
  6. This post should be a pinned post, in fact you should have a "Chief's Cruise Ship Innerworkings" pinned post containing your greatest hits.
  7. Imagine the old common phone book which inside had white pages that listed your name, address and phone number and this book was distributed to everyone for free! Hate to break it to everyone, but your information is readily available to anyone with the most rudimentary of research skills.
  8. Spot-on analysis and great explanation. There are so many misconceptions regarding casino pay, your post was a breath of fresh air.
  9. IMO this CDC document clearly puts the ball in the cruise line's court. Key words such as: "assist", "should" or "recommends" instead of "will" or "shall" is huge. Words are carefully chosen when a regulatory agency is writing a federal order. IMO the phrase below sums it up. This document is intended to assist cruise ship operators in establishing health and safety protections to reduce the risk of introduction and spread COVID-19 during passenger operations and preserve onboard medical capacity. The question is how much risk do the cruise lines want to take on. There will be a media feeding frenzy if there's a big covid outbreak on a cruise line that chose to ignore the CDC recommendations.
  10. Luckily we didn't say a trigger word that would have guest services refusing to deal with us. Reminds me of Seinfeld's "No soup for you!" lol
  11. Wow, unfortunately we've had many issues (problems with our cabin on the brand new Seaside and billing on other cruises) and thus we have been to MSC guest services many times and luckily we have never been treated that rudely.
  12. If they have the range I wonder why some choose to not sing in the proper key?
  13. I'm intrigued, what happened to you? Inquiring minds you know . . . The entertainment is definitely different. Most the singers are classically trained opera singers and thus their expertise and range is geared toward opera therefore many of the singers don't have the range to properly cover much of the show tunes and pop songs, but they try hard and they sing opera quite well (to my unsophisticated ear).
  14. No wonder NCL reduced the Free at Sea three specialty dining meals to two meals. It obviously wasn't to reduce overcrowding and and make more traditional dining times available for more people; it was highly likely done to free up space for this promo. I wonder if this is also a partial reason why NCL removed the free wifi minutes from higher level Latitude members . . . .
  15. I don't know when it started, but it was there April 27.
  16. You're replying to the wrong person. I'm not the OP and I've never been on that ship.
  17. We were on the same sailing. There was quite a shutter felt in our cabin, then the blackout and constant announcements of "Bravo, Bravo." My gut feeling is that incident may be directly related to the current slower speeds.
  18. Just saw this about the Carnival Splendor; don't know the validity.
  19. That's my thought as well. Plus the cruise lines don't need the negative press from people dying or falling seriously ill. The vaccine offers the cruise lines some insurance.
  20. Oh no! We love Ketchikan and hate docking at Ward Cove. We switched from NCL to RCI thinking that RCI wouldn't stop at Ward Cove. Just checked the port calendar and see there are only two ships in Ketchikan when we're scheduled. Whew!
