We're not yet entirely sure what exactly is being served, I went to the current Solstice roll call to ask if anyone had any insight but @Jim_Iain beat me to the punch (lol). My WAG (Wild A$$ Guess) is it's far more likely X will serve the cheapest option and that's probably their timeless NY sirloin for this dish. The term Manhattan Steak is uncommon, the most popular name for it is the Manhattan Cut followed by Manhattan Filet. While it is trimmed from a NY sirloin, it's generally very thick.

More info on the origin of the dish: About Beef Manhattan The dish that is known as a “Manhattan” in many parts of the United States actually has nothing to do with New York City. The Beef Manhattan started in Indianapolis later in the 1940s, in a small deli. The dish is said to be named by Naval Ordnance Plant Indianapolis workers who trained on the fabrication of the Norden Bombsight in Manhattan during World War II.

Beyond Le Voyage Daniel Boulud cookbook
NutsAboutGolf replied to zitsky's topic in Celebrity Cruises
I don’t think I’ve ever bought a cookbook; most use YouTube for recipes nowadays because you can see how many views and comments they have and see how they perform more complicated techniques. If you think about it, it’s would be pretty difficult to learn how to make a perfect omelette from a book -
This is on the Solstice next month. While I understand menus can change as we get closer but it does seem already fully populated with lobster and Wellington. I’ve been on X 78 nights since the restart and have never seen Manhattan Beef Steak and I haven’t seen them not offer prime rib on the first night either. What is it you ask? Not sure how X will do theirs but it’s generally a slice a bread on the bottom, beef in the middle, mashed potatoes on top of the beef and finally gravy over everything

Why Doesn't Celebrity do a Round Trip Hawaii Cruise?

There also another dynamic called the Passenger Vessel Services Act (PVSA), short version, if you start in the US and disembark the ship in the US before visiting a foreign port, Uncle Sam will charge you $812/person (according to carnival). Some exceptions exist: -
Beyond Le Voyage Daniel Boulud cookbook

If Le Voyage sounds attractive, they should book it yet my original comment was to point out Le Voyage should not be compared his more expensive 2 Michelin Starred NYC restaurant. The buffet is one option, Le Voyage is the most expensive specialty restaurant, there are cheaper specialty restaurants that occasionally go on sale and there's also the MDR/Blu/Luminae. -

Beyond Le Voyage Daniel Boulud cookbook

You get what you pay for as his NYC restaurant, Daniel, is superior to Le Voyage: -The Daniel restaurant was awarded not one but two Michelin stars (it was once a 3 star). -Michelin Stars are awarded to a restaurant (not the chef) and all they care about is the food, they don't care about, the restaurant atmosphere or service. -While it's not uncommon to hear "Michelin starred chef", all that means is that a chef was working at a Michelin starred restaurant; a newly hired sous chef who had no impact on the recipe development can call themselves a Michelin starred chef. -The less popular James Beard Award is awarded to the Chef. -The restaurant Daniel does not have any restrictions with fresh food sourcing like they do on ships where most food arrives frozen on pallets as they need to ensure meals on night 7 taste the same as night 1. Bottom line: Le Voyage could be one of the best restaurants at sea (the food and atmosphere are getting mixed reviews with service, as expected, receiving rave reviews) but shouldn't be compared to a land based Michelin starred restaurant. -
Do you happen to know if you can carryon sealed soda when retuning to a port?
-
If you bring your own soda, can you leave one 12 pack with the porter and carry on the other?

Ask me anything (AMA): edge villa on Celebrity Beyond
NutsAboutGolf replied to LongStrangeTrip19's topic in Celebrity Cruises
It's starboard; I'm not a huge fan of X's complimentary desserts but the Eden Cafe's cookies and brownies are the best cookies and brownies I've had at sea. I've only been there on the Edge in 2021, no idea if it's now different but it was only open for breakfast and lunch on sea days and the desserts were only put out for lunch. -

On a more serious note, in the interest of a balanced review: What were the top three highlights? What were the top three lowlights? -

For a more VIP experience show up tagless and let the porters take care of it. Always get my bags when the porters use their tags, I did "lose" one bag which was at guest services where presumably the tag fell off which I stapled at the hotel.

Just a FYI: I just copied and pasted the image (5 hours ago) when it was on the site, it wouldn't have been cached as I haven't visited that page in quite some time. The image I posted was replaced by the text @CalTexCruiser posted above. This isn't the first time X coincidently makes changes after it's posted here on CC yet they changed this possibly within an hour. That's surprisingly fast considering this schedule would need to be validated as inaccurate by someone who knows the starlink schedule and then direct the website change. No idea if X pays anyone to monitor CC or if X employees are utilizing CC in order to come up with ideas but it indeed seem X is reading CC. Yet clearly those who are reading don't care about customer service issues and/or refunds...lol
