  1. -Have been invited I'd guess 30 times, I've gone maybe 12 times -No one has ever asked to see my card/invite -There is usually someone there by the stairs, I'd imagine to check shoes and offer assistance for those who need to require it to get up the stairs -One time there was no one there, perhaps a one-off emergency -There's no shade - @DaKahuna, thanks for the photo. If you don't get one of the highlighted areas which can only hold 25-30 people if shoulder to shoulder, you won't be able to see much unless you're tall
  2. Interestingly, you can connect your MacBook to the ship's wifi, go to settings, and share (google sharing wifi MacBook [Model]) the wifi as a hotspot
  3. It's unfortunate, but they can cancel ports and charge fuel surcharges
  4. You should have played the lottery too because you basically hit the jackpot by successfully connecting to LAX wifi (lol)
  5. Just to save you a potential headache, every time you check in, not just the first time, politely state your seating requirements
  6. As you probably already assumed, no. They typically send out visitor/visa requirements info about a month before the sail date. X was also very late to re-instate the FLL luggage valet
  7. To piggyback off this, ports are wanted to limit overall capacity, if all the big cruise lines start sailing with smaller ships, they'll likely tighten the rules to further reduce capacity
  8. Perhaps it's the lesser of all evils to book your next cruise to redeem the offer. A much better option than doing what my friend did, skipped his $20 land haircut only to pay $60 on the ship...lol
  9. Do they use live singers? To clarify, they had a live singer, we didn't hang out there so I can only recall them singing Margaritaville. Since the OP asked about live music, if they played music through the speakers, I wouldn't have commented
  10. GCs are excluded and usually are from any credit card offers including AMEX, Chase or Cap1 In case anyone is wondering how to do this quickly, took me 30 seconds to log into AMEX, enter "celebrity" into the search offers field then press CTRL F and enter "gift c"
  11. Other than when you first get off the tram at the Cul-de-sac, we didn't hear any live music anywhere. Was there in late April on the RCI WoS, coincidently, we were in port for the first time that any X ship (Reflection) brought passengers to CoCo Cay. I mention this because IDK if that music was to welcome X or is a routine thing
  12. Since you're on board, just go to the internet section to get it straightened out
  13. @LJJQ, you can get exactly what you're looking for IF you're willing to sail to the Galapagos Islands My WAG (Wild A$$ Guess) is the new leadership will want to make a splash with a ship around the size of the stretched E-Class. We have to remember the new leadership created many short Caribbean sailings, added CoCo Cay and Port Canaveral. I personally don't think that's a bad thing but know many around here do
  14. I checked with two high rollers...Yes, they claim you'll be offered a free "annual cruise benefit" on select sailings for those with a high enough tier on the date listed. For Amethyst, it's an inside room for two. However, there are all sorts of reports of annual cruise denials with the BCC claiming it's based on play and a "benefit" doesn't mean it's an "entitlement". Also, if you have multiple offers, as soon as you book one, don't be surprised if some or all of the other offers disappear so that may come into play (if you can book the annual cruise, other offers disappear) Plan on calling when they open on August 21st, hope for the best, and if denied, call back to see if you get the same story
  15. If there are major sporting events which could include international sports like cricket, soccer/football, rugby, etc., it can get surprisingly busy and rowdy
  16. If you join a current Eclipse roll call or FB group and ask, you can get a rough idea of what to expect. I will mention that, generally, you get one comedian one night, a magician another night and all the rest are musicals (broadway style, house band concert style, guest singers, etc) You'll probably see all three of these shows
  17. I do see advantages of X not naming anyone, it avoids disappointment if for whatever reason the entertainer gets sick or something and does not board the ship
  18. Great blog! Assuming you have time, consider sitting at the restaurant after the platoon bridge immediately to the left with outdoor seating. Assuming it's still the same restaurant (had Ignana in the name), the food was surprisingly good, but if you have other plans you can still sit and order a drink or even just bottles of water. Hopefully, while you're sitting there they move the bridge. If you want the footage of it, consider propping your phone with something like a mug and use a time-lapse
  19. I agree with everything you state, it comes down to how they want to communicate with you. Some doctors will only do something with an office visit resulting in a copay and then billing your insurance. When it comes to disclosing precautions, people may not even retain anything they're being told whether in person or by the phone, and will probably be giving a printout anyway. I can message my doctor and he's done anything I've asked without an office visit often the same day. On the other hand, I forget some people do enjoy physically going to their doctor and of course, that's an option for them Edit, to summarize...If you have a doctor who makes you come into the office for any request and you do not want to, you can shop around and find doctors who don't always require an office visit
  20. Do you know what time it opens or if it's 24/7? I was about to say we did get it during those evening hours but after thinking about it, I believe the couple in front of us held the door so neither of us scanned Edit: so it's possible the sea passes weren't coded correctly; thanks to the reciprocity improvement, will be D+ next time
  21. Some people are immune to all OTC seasickness meds so just call your doctor's office, tell them you are susceptible to seasickness, and ask if they can write a script WITHOUT an office visit. If they really want an office visit to write a script for seasick meds, one should strongly consider changing doctors because they're doing it to bill your insurance
  22. On the WoS we went on two different mornings and couldn't get in, I'm 95% sure they were physically closed but I suppose it could have been nearly empty but they were restricting Diamond members. I have no idea why, never checked the hours in the app
  23. Can do so in the buffet, MDR and Blu; I haven't had breakfast anywhere else yet can't imagine Luminae would say "no"...lol
  24. Protip for everyone with X omelets, if it matters to you, ask for fresh/whole eggs because otherwise, they pour the egg mixture from a carton
