Fitness Center--Reservations necessary?
Duanerice1 replied to sharonann24's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Can you just ride the bikes when there is no class? I thought they were for the classes only. -

Desperate help with hump cabins on Silhouette?!
Duanerice1 replied to aimcat's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Wed prefer the 1st cabin on the back side of the hump as it has way less wind. The wind is clocked by the cabins in front. An I can easily see what's in front, it's not like I'm looking off the back of the ship -
Equinox Review mostly some pictures
Duanerice1 replied to Trish Traveler's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Thanks for the review. We are on the April 6 version of this cruise. Snorkeling in all the ports as they have some of the best snorkeling in the wold. -
We aren't arriving until 10 am so probably to the beach around 11 AM. Suggestions on where to rent beach chairs that late in the morning? Thanks

We've been to Stingray City too many times and have snorkeled at Eden Rock...... We are looking for a snorkeling tour that doesn't stop at Stingray City but just does the reefs and such. I can't seem to find anything so was wondering if others have done this Thanks, Duane

They issue I have is they sold me a different product than they are delivering and didn’t reduce the price or refund for lack of service. When I booked there was free room service. We actually use it a lot. Every day for breakfast, and not just muffins but a hot breakfast then most sea days for lunch too. So it is important to us. And no, we waste a lot less food than if we went to the buffet. I get it that they need to make changes but don’t sell me a product, and fully charge me for the product, then take away benefits. it would be very easy to link booking date to your account and remove room service charges based on when you booked. Very simple IT solution.

We once did a 10 day Equinox cruise and never once went to the buffet. But that’s when room service was good….

Hi all, Haven't sailed on Celebrity since 2018, I know, I know..... Been on a few cruises since then but not Celebrity. I've searched and can't seem to find the answers but I think that is more a reflection on my searching abilities. I will be on a 9 night Equinox ABC cruise in April. Whew I left Celebrity, room service was free, at least from something like 6 AM - 11 PM. Do they still have it? Just got off another cruise line and they just started charging for room service. We get breakfast room service daily and spend at least 1 sea day on our balcony and order room service. We have the first off the hump balcony so we love to use the space. Elite party is gone but I think we get free drinks (limited menu) from 5-7 nightly after the first night. Is this correct? How early can we check in and do they use specific times? We are only Elite and in a 1A so no special check in privileges. Thanks all, can't wait to get back to the line I love. This is my wife's first time on Celebrity after a few Carnival cruises so I'm hoping she's impressed. Oh, one last thing...... We love the comedy shows and the last few cruises had 4 shows some nights (2 early PG and 2 late R rated), but had at least one comedy show nightly. I don't remember Celebrity having that many shows.....

Sapphire Beach Snorkeling Video June 2021
Duanerice1 replied to Ms411's topic in St. Thomas/St. John
Fantastic. Is this off the beach or a tour? -
Hate when they arrive late and stay late. Would rather get there at 7 and start our day. We usually rent a car and explore on our own. Not much happening on the island after dark so it’s kind of wasted time to us. But I see why they do it, the next port is 20 minutes away. Lol I’m surprised how many people eat dinner ashore. We usually head back to the ship, as it’s docked right in town, have dinner then might get off to hit a bar or just stay on and enjoy the ship. Food isn’t that important to us, not foodies, so ship food is more than enough. enjoy

Recent reports on how strict is Celebrity about early arrivals?
Duanerice1 replied to Nashna's topic in Celebrity Cruises
When can you check in for a time slot. Haven’t been on Celebrity for 4 years. ABC’s in April. Can’t wait. Other lines we have been on we check in 2 weeks before -
Ha ha. Exactly. Retired and living in FL, Celebrity is our favorite but have been sailing a lot of Carnival because of the price. But, have an ABC booked on the Equinox for April.

Anything we should know about the Magic or our ports?
Duanerice1 replied to farjar's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
Snorkeling is the thing to do in Bonaire. Some of the best snorkeling in the world. There are minor other things to do but that’s what they are known for. we rented a car in Aruba and drive around. Like the freedom to go on our own -
We are Elite on Celebrity and used to sail them exclusively. They just got too expensive…. So, after cruising restarted we got some fantastic deals on Carnival. Had a great time, 5 cruises now. Have another in January then back to Celebrity in April for an ABC cruise. Carnival is fun for the most part. We like the option of a couple of comedy shows every night. Not available on Celebrity. I like the free room service on Celebrity and that you can get a hot breakfast. We use room service daily. Not buffet fans. Like the casual food options on Carnival but dinners on Celebrity are so much nicer. Overall they both are nice in their own way and we’ll continue to cruise both based on prices.

You do realize it will be 80-81 at the end of December...... That's not exactly chilly and we also live in S Florida.... We are going in January and plan on snorkeling. Some of the best beaches in the world.

Docking in St. Thomas - Snorkel There or St. John?
Duanerice1 replied to LEMJMcC's topic in St. Thomas/St. John
We had OBC to burn so took the ship excursion to St John. Don;t forget when you get there you still need to take a taxi to the beaches and back so it uses up time. I've never had good snorkeling on St Thomas and won't bother again. St John is another story but it's pretty much a full day adventure -
Self Explore Rental Car - Good Idea?
Duanerice1 replied to BalancingWanderlust's topic in St. Martin/St. Maarten
We rented a jeep so we could go around on our own. We hit many beaches and towns. Had fun. Just be [prepared for afternoon traffic coming back into town. Forget who we used but it wasn't 'in' the port, but just outside the gates. -

Overnight port stop at Port Canaveral, Uber/taxi question
Duanerice1 replied to MJC's topic in Florida Departures
We here in Florida do have Uber/Lyft. They are available pretty much every where except out in the country and it's not out in the country. You should be fine. -
That's the one thing I noticed when I recently started sailing Carnival... out side of their app their technology stinks. No reason all the ships don't have interactive TV's. You should be able to order room service, check account, etc on the TV and not just on a few ships. Sadly we sailed on Horizon first so thought all ships were like that.
-
Out of around 15 cruises, this is the only place we have ever taken a ship excursion. We had a lot of OBC and they had the 'St John on your own'.... Got the boat right at the ship and it dropped us off right back at the boat. I do not exactly remember how long we had but they dropped us off and we had to get a taxi to and from the beach. Agree that this is the one place you don't need to do it but the cost was cheap and it was pretty convenient.

I hope you snorkel as the 3 islands have some of the best snorkeling in the world. Aruba, been twice and rented a car both times. Spent time snorkeling then beaches. The island, outside of the beaches, isn't that pretty. Curacao - great snorkeling and cool little town. They have a great spot to snorkel with the turtles.... almost 100% chance if you get there early in the day. We have rented a car here too as it allows us to get to the good spots before the tours. We also love the little town. Bonaire... best snorkeling ever..... Either take an excursion or take the shuttle out to the Klein Bonaire (little island). They have drift snorkeling where you walk to one end of the island and snorkel down to the other end then turn around and do it all over again! I think the shuttle was $10 or $20 and they run every hour.

If we are on an excursion we just leave them in our bag on the boat. Never had an issue
