  1. Good portable scanner and MS Word.
  2. I am the creator of the chart with images and pricing from HAL. There is an upgraded version with the correct image of the Pinnacle-class retreat cabanas: Cabana Prices
  3. The website has been having issues. Wait 30 minutes and re login. Check your Navigator app.
  4. This is the Gold Gala Night menu served on the last Gala Night on a cruise. It is my experience that it is standard throughout the fleet.
  5. Obtaining Club Orange If your plan is to upgrade to a better room in the same category: Determine if your preferred stateroom in the same category is available. Select the cheapest numbered or guaranteed stateroom, in the same category. Pay the required deposit, and obtain a booking number. With a copy of the ship deck plan at hand, call Ships Inventory (1-888-628-8107 or 206-626-7381), provide your booking #, choose your preferred stateroom, and pay the Club Orange fee with your credit card. If you are not pursuing an upgrade and are happy with your stateroom. With a copy of the ship deck plan at hand, call Ships Inventory (1-888-628-8107 or 206-626-7381), provide your booking #, and pay the Club Orange fee with your credit card.
  6. Interestingly, the above link for Sommellier Suites Cellar 1 and Cellar 2 are reversed on the link I just downloaded for my February cruise: Sommellier Suite 2024 (Eurodam) Feb
  7. I don't photograph, just scan. My plan is to keep scanning the menus that i find onboard if they are different than your posted link.
  8. Not an astute member but the iris scans require a binocular-like device to scan the back of the eye at a distance a few millimeters from the surface of the eye. On the other hand, facial recognition scanners measure: Distance between the eyes Distance from the forehead to the chin Distance between the nose and mouth Depth of the eye sockets Shape of the cheekbones Contour of the lips, ears, and chin US Global Entry, many larger airports, government facilities, and Holland America ships use facial recognition to speed processing. Since measurements are very difficult to duplicate (unlike hair color, makeup, false eyelashes, contact lenses, etc.), it is hard to deceive the measurements detection. Other than US and Canada airports/cruise ports, I have not experienced facial recognition used in any other ports.
  9. Amen. Going up to eventually go down, and vice versa, works well when there are crowded elevators (Embarkation and Disembarkation days). Going the opposite direction a few floors guarantees your spot on the elevator to your ultimate destination floor. This also works quite well for the Vancouver Pan Pacific/cruise terminal elevators both on Embarkation and Disembarkation day.
  10. A Bloody Mary is $11 and available through Room Service as well as bars. Here is the Billboard Drink Menu 2024 with $12 Lemon Drops. I will be updating more bar menus after Feb 4.
  11. The promotion of the Lido Market Steak night on Embarkation Day has been very successful in relieving the MDR anytime dining lines. It has caused the closure of the Canaletto Restaurant area on of the Lido Market on Embarkation Day to accommodate the huge crowd.

    Alaska

May and Holland America are my preferences. Lots of baby creatures experiencing life, amazing snow-capped peaks, hungry eagles, and a month with much less rain.
  13. You are correct. The prepaid refunds go to your "refundable" OBC account, and if not used, then back to your card at the end of the cruise. The restaurant knows you are a 4-Star Mariner but you can remind your waiter when your dessert is delivered. This refund option was a godsend last October when 200 passengers on my B2B were going to be delayed for two days in Fort Lauderdale on our segment segment and we all received $450 "non-refundable" OBC with only 8 days to spend it. We kept the Front Desk busy for a few days getting refunds for our Specialty Dining and on our laptops cancelling prepaid internet, wine packages, etc. for our second B2B segment.
  14. Welcome to Cruise Critic. The HAL laundry service ranks as high as not having to cook numerous course meals and not having to clean up after myself on a HAL cruise.
  15. Private fares appear to be just another promotion and I get the brochures several times a year. Since I have yet to take advantage of private sales or compared them to posted prices on the HAL website, I'm not sure what makes them special or who else receives them. If I remember, I will ask my HAL PCC.
  16. Dry cleaning is not included in the complementary service.
  17. On Embarkation Day, ask your Room Steward for some extra laundry bags and lists so that you can send out laundry both mornings and evenings for the first few days to get the wrinkles out of your packed clothing. You will find a laundry bag and list hanging in your closet on Embarkation Day. BEWARE: Every item of returned laundry on hangers will have a very stiff and scratchy piece of laundry tape. Find and pull the tape off before placing clothing in your closet. Take note of the locations of the tags as they should be found in the same spot on future returned items. Failure to remove the laundry tags might put you in an irritated skin condition and perhaps not in a convenient setting to remove the offending tag. Enjoy your Neptune Suite and don't forget to ask the Concierge to see the afternoon in-room appetizer menu.
  18. 50 minutes is the established time that I remember.
  19. Totem Park is within walking distance (16 minutes) from the pier if you are docked downtown. A taxi will be just a short three minutes. I can only speak of my many Holland America Line cruises. The time of docking is the time when passengers are allowed to leave the ship. The ship will be approaching the pier much earlier if you want photographs. Visiting Alaska is much like shopping in a candy store. You can see what is available on your first visit, try a few things, and return again for more.
  20. If you book Specialty Restaurants online at full price and wish to use non-refundable OBC, Guest Services can return your prepaid Specialty Restaurant payments to your refundable OBC. Guest Services is not able to cancel reservations only refund payments. When you go to the Specialty Restaurant at your reserved time for dinner, the charge will be to your non-refundable OBC.
  21. Welcome to Cruise Critic and this Forum. Nearly all of my "keeper"photos get a final pass through Topaz Photo AI.
  22. The last bar menu covering all onboard bars was last published in 2021 and was discontinued in 2023. The decision to end the standard bar menu was a corporate decision. When I asked last year, a HAL bartender told me that the beverage staff has memorized the prices for all of the drinks and would charge the proper price. I frowned and he smiled. The only bar menus now are restaurant bars (Tamarind and Morimoto) and specialty drinks at other bars. Solution #1: Post a new generic bar menu on the Navigator app. Solution #2: On my upcoming cruise, I can locate a friendly bartender (on a sea day or late evening) and update my 2021 generic bar menu with the current prices to share.
  23. Thanks for your contributions. I have updated/corrected the posted pricing table for onboard internet purchases. HAL Internet Pricing Plans 2024
