  1. This news deserves a new thread and title!! Is this for real??!!! SUCKS big time. PS - Don't want to steal your thunder, but please put this announcement in a new thread. We don't blame you for it!
  2. Agree. This old thread is irrelevant to the situation today and posters should refer to the new thread linked by you.
  3. I hear that, but if I happened to be in the situation, we've been to SD enough times that missing it for a week wouldn't kill me. I'd just order a CG steak from the MDR menu and pay $19.
  4. Perhaps @Tiggipaws can put a word in for your during her(?) first week on board and you be sure to get there early on Dec 9 and you hustle upstairs?
  5. My "go to" is the App not working right unless I detect an obvious user error. The App gets a presumption of guilt from me until proven innocent.
  6. Not really because if one uses a third-party travel insurance provider, generally you are insuring the cost value of the trip and the cost of Plus/Premier would be included in that total.
  7. So, you could have shared if willing to pay $8.50 for the one pizza and not use a credit. Or, order two pizzas for $17 and share the flavors. OTOH, use a CD $15 credit and tell them hold the App and hold the Dessert. And then you cannot share unless the partner is ordering as well. Pretty absurd it seems as they are saving food items (pennies I suppose). I guess they just don't want to see a couple end up with 4 free "meals". So, I see some logic in their thinking. It would be simpler perhaps if they just gave each person on Plus a $30 credit for Casual Dining. But that would be advantage guest and not Princess. I think you are correct that 4 a la carte pizzas (2 per person) would be reasonable way to go. Or, 2 prix fix meals or 3 mains a la carte in Plus package. Even so, would still have the sharing issue. I am just getting this more muddled, aren't I? It's just weird and I suppose the bigger issue is folks who get stiffed with nothing extra on a long voyage. I think I like my Standard Fare better. 😉 Seems like no way out for the light lunch diner other than to leave money on the table - or at least appear to on paper. If you can take away the extra slices to another location, I suppose you salvage some value for later (but no way to reheat the slices at another time).
  8. Dinner time I get. But , do you really expect everyone is going to be up for breakfast at the same time? Perhaps it is your military background? 😉
  9. Ahh... so you don't need DMW for dinner - just for SD reservations. If your travel companions are setup in the App, they should be seen in the web version of DMW. All I know is that some folks have had better success with web version for DMW bookings. Strange results you had. Your idea of getting with the concierge on board is a good one. Find them on day one. I am truly embarrassed for Princess as a shareholder and long-time guest on a number of voyages over the years. I mean I am embarrassed when informed of a new guest struggling as you have and encountering the garbage put out by their Ocean IT team. Sure, lots of folks seem to have no issues. Even I got through most of my issues in 2022 eventually, but there is just no excuse and I always wonder how many people end up "one-and-done" with Princess. But it has been great sailing with them and the on board crew and staff have been great and I think they have a good value proposition. I just shake my head over how no heads seem to roll and there has not been much improvement in the IT product out the door since June 2021.
  10. That is just dead wrong unless those coffees contained alcohol shots. Otherwise, guest should have reported it to F&B Mgr and asked for correction. If I had drink package, would never come close to the 15, but there is a principle here. Show them the package terms from Princess.com. There should be no question about this.
  11. They cannot make a guest pay for something not ordered. They offer both a la carte and prix fixe options. There has been nothing published I am aware of that Princess can force everyone at a table to order prix fixe option if one guest wants it. This is separate from the sharing issue. They are going to have problems if they don't charge guests fairly and consistently.
  12. You are correct. No surge protection.
  13. I understand the not sharing part above, but if 2nd person orders a pizza a la carte and 1st person orders the full meal, Princess has no business charging guest 2 a cover charge versus $8.50. I don't see how they could do that and would speak to a mgr if necessary. Take away the Plus and they cannot charge $15x2. The bill is $15 + $8.50. Guests need to be treated equally.
  14. Suggest in future to never book with a non-ref deposit.
  15. Sure but they downgraded three meta categories to get that.
  16. This is what I have been reading. IDK why PCL is giving couples back $20 when it would only cost $10 had the guests ordered Medallions.
  17. I am not sure DMW is going to use companion SD credits, so worst case is booker gets credited back on board with refundable OBC and companions get free meal.
  18. Agree. I don't see the big deal about settling up cash among family or friends. If going 2X, the friends can book the next visit.
  19. I do not agree with guests doing this as you are blocking up extra tables with no intent to use them.
  20. Nope. Terrible idea as it blocks up three tables.
  21. Are you using DMW on smartphone app or the web version? Try the latter if not done already. ETA: are you Platinum or higher? Have you made Final Payment if not?
  22. Okay, but we have had posts before today confirming this. NBD. Should be a short thread and we move on. PS - re-read your post and I wasn't irritated. Sorry about that.
