  1. This is something been in the works for a while and YTZ now has pre-clearance (nice for Porter business I suppose). I have not flown out of YTZ for several years now.
  2. You are correct. Guests do have to clear out casino accounts at end of each physical segment, even if they are on a longer voyage (B2Bs). I don't recall if @Thrak has multiple US segments before his Aussie segment(s), but clearing casino account is a different concept than making sure there is no Refundable OBC left in USD that will be converted to AUD OBC when the next segment begins which is a voyage where the shipboard currency changes from USD to AUD.
  3. Yes, it can be bought on board at same cost as pre-cruise (when they increased the pricing, they got rid of the idea to charge more if wait until on the ship). You can also purchase a single day for $20. If a guest waits until part way through the voyage and then purchases for the balance of the voyage, my understanding is they are being charged at $15/day and not $20/day. The $20 rate is for single day(s) purchased individually/randomly. Read the above, please.
  4. I recognize that folks have varying levels of comfort with connecting flight times. However, EZ-Air doesn't do anything different than the actual underlying airlines. Minimum legal connection times for each airport/airline will be taken into account as they are drawing on the same schedules and routes that the airlines use. I am always looking for a good layover time and not be stuck with a long wait between flights. I understand that a minimum legal connection time might not be agreeable to everyone, so you just have to find the next flight after to lengthen that time, or get an earlier flight for the first leg.
  5. All Canadian airports with flights to USA have US CBP pre-clearance. Yes. This is normal. Your departing airport to USA was Montreal - not Quebec City. Montreal and Toronto in particular have very streamlined process for connections to/from USA to/from International. Many of these connections now are done in sterile zones and you do not need to re-process through security. Your case was small Canadian airport domestic to Montreal and then connect USA. (When I used to fly to Boston a lot from Toronto airport, I would sometimes go via Montreal to get extra segments towards my FF status and I would have to go through security for the US side). What helps is that passengers do not need to collect checked bags and lug them to US zone and re-check them. All these changes were made to be able to speed passengers through airports like Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver in order to help connection layovers and to attract business from USA with easy connections. If the airline has it as a legal connection, then it is doable. It may seem surprising, but it is a pretty good process these days compared to, IDK, 10 years ago. Air Canada's min connection time for Domestic to USA in Montreal is 55 min. PS - Canada's TSA is called CATSA. It doesn't stand for Canadian TSA. It stands for Canadian Air Transport Security Authority.
  6. I was not thinking of a party atmosphere. It is just a natural situation when 8 people gather as a group that there could easily be noise simply due to conversations and such. One would think a Sanctuary host would say something if a group got noisy. I just don't see 8 people in one of those spots.
  7. Hi. I have not had a chance to look at this until now. Same voyage/cabin category in USD, booking from North America: Standard = $1,058 + $163.50 Port Taxes Plus = $1,658 + $163.50 Port Taxes This is what they are calling an Early Booking Promo. Fare Codes N7S and N7P. Not sure if you kept the port taxes out of your quotes or not. (I think you did). Today's wholesale rate for AUD from USD is ~1.5547 to purchase USD with AUD (which is in effect what booking in Australia is doing). Princess doesn't use the daily exchange rate, but rather uses a fixed rate that they alter from time-to-time, per market situation. I have no idea when they last set a rate, nor exactly what it was. Based on your quote of $65 AUD for Plus upgrade which is $44 USD with Crew Appreciation removed, the conversion for that is ~1.477 (and PCL will have rounded to an even $ value). $1,801 AUD / $1,058 USD = ~1.70. This cannot be right. Suppose I remove CA from the Australia quote to make it same "apples to apples" as the US fare (no CA included). This means subtract ~$240 AUD and net fare is now $1,561 AUD. That converts from the US fare at ~1.475 (1,561/1,058) - which is in the expected range of currency factor that PCL is using. $2,451 AUD / $1,658 USD = ~1.478. Again, this conversion is within the expected range that PCL is using. No adjustments are necessary to cruise fares since both countries now have CA included in the fares. We can see from the above that there is no discrepancy in cruise fare pricing. In the US, guests pay fares that do not include CA. Those on Standard fare are billed on board for CA each day. Those on Plus and Premier have CA covered in the package. In Australia guests pay fares that include CA. No extra billing if on a Standard fare. The Plus and Premier packages have an allowance for CA and cost less than the package cost in the US (forgetting upcharge for Suites). A guest from N.A. booking an Australian/NZ voyage is going to be assessed CA either in advance or on board. If on board, it will be an AUD equivalent to the cabin account each day. If paid in advance from home, it will be the normal USD cost. If guest purchases Plus in advance, it includes CA, so no cabin account billing on board. If guest upgrades to Plus on board, they have not paid CA and will be charged to the cabin account. Anyone disagree? There was some discussion about paying for a Plus Fare from N.A. and then thinking were double-charged CA. I don't see that happening based on the above. Please catch me up if I have something wrong. Returning to @wallyj's original question, we can see that Plus package (Premier as well) in Australia do not include CA because is is baked into the base cruise fare. Therefore, a North American (Europe as well) guest upgrading to Plus on board will (should at least) be assessed daily CA.
  8. Okay, so two couples might agree to get a cabana and share the cost of $300 which breaks down to $75/pp - still significant cost over having a lounge chair and need to decide if the extra space and "goodies" are worth it. I do think if 8 were allowed, not only would that be too crowded (certainly no room for 8 loungers), but the noise level would naturally be beyond what is expected in the Sanctuary.
  9. This is admittedly some generalization, but Apple seems to be more used in artistic type settings. Regular business offices have been Microsoft Windows and MS Office for eons. Not likely to change.
  10. In the next version, I would suggest removing "Princess" from all ship names for brevity and size. I wonder if guests sailing on Coral/Island are going to be looking for Casual Dining compensation as there is really nothing for them.
  11. Same as they have been for several years. $40/lounger for full day. $20 for half-day. $30 for full day if book the entire voyage. Cabanas are $220 or $240, but that covers two people and they provide some things (sorry, don't have the specifics on hand, but they can tell you on the ship or someone else here who has booked one will know). I believe there is actually room for 4 people, but I am not sure you can get it for the same price for 4 people. There are only two loungers standard at each cabana. We don't book cabanas so I am a bit rusty on them. I suppose with a high-demand voyage they may be booked, but I have usually just seen them empty taking up valuable deck real estate in the past.
  12. The answer for me is Tilley Endurables. Great Canadian product! Just to keep it in line. I wear a Tilley hat on outdoor excursions all the time.
  13. We normally book Inside, so for us to get a similar "move down", we would have to sleep on a deck chair. Would hope it at least be in the Sanctuary. Ha, ha.
  14. I suppose they have boiler plate email text. Maybe they do not have another internal term and would never term anything negative.
  15. Echoing Post #176, you don't get the new stuff for free unless upgrade @ $10/pp/day. You might find it cheaper to pay the 1-time $15 fee for Ocean Now delivery as you will get bar drinks up to $15 included and you don't seem to care about the other stuff.
  16. Houston had that at times in the channel and I think was a factor in the move to Galveston. From Galveston cruise docks to open Gulf looks like an easy run.
  17. Are you saying you want to be at a Sharing table with other guests, or you have your own group of guests to fill a table? If the former, you should know that DMW doesn't assemble the same group of people at a mixed sharing table (it is impossible for the app to do that). DR Mgmt doesn't do it either - UNLESS you get lucky on night 1 and all at your table want to dine there together every night (except for SD visits) and you could then ask DR Mgr if they can block you all into that table. Otherwise, YOU could potentially be blocked in there, but will see a different bunch of people each night. Also, some/all of the guests you are seated with on Night 1 could be random walk-ups, or not intending to eat at same time each night, etc. Assembling a Sharing table of stranger guests for full voyage is not at an easy thing to do (like herding cats). If you are interested, try asking in the Roll Call if there are 2 or 3 other couples interested and you could present as a set group to the DR Mgmt or DR Hosts and they should be able to set you up.
  18. First point - this was not a "move over" offer as title indicates. A "move over" is when they offer you a full refund and a replacement cruise for free on another ship and/or another sail date. Yours might be called a "move down" or "category reduction". Anyway, keep an eye on Cruise Personalizer and also use the booking page to see what other Insides might be available. The offer doesn't indicate the Inside Category being offered and no doubt the first ones to reply are going to get the cream of what's left. That said, as soon as you see where yours is, you can see if any others are still available and contact them if you want to change. You will either need TA to call, or re-emailing them at the one provided might work. But, you would need to act fast as you don't know how many guests are getting this offer.
  19. Take your pick - forehead or neck. Depending on angles and peak size, there is the nose as well to consider.
  20. Never? We do occasionally when want certain bulk paper goods items or cleaners/detergents or pharmacy section items. They have very good prices and don't need to go Big Box size. To each their own, however.
  21. Exactly. I would never be looking to use a PCL gift card on a ship with AUD on board currency.
