  1. We have those little tree frogs also and they're VERY noisy at night. I assume it's some sort of mating call as we've captured them at night by our pool and put them into the wooded area next to us, and some were in a "compromising position".
  2. Gotta learn sometime. Best when Dad's not around to hear all of the grinding noises. 😜 Happy Anniversary!
  3. You'd think that she'd know, or at least heard about, what happens. Doesn't the CD report to the HD? Although it sometimes makes sense to keep the boss in position for plausible deniability. 😁
  4. Looks like a typical wet English summer day at The Open Championship golf tournament. Yuck. Does that weather extend all the way east to you Graham @grapau27?
  5. She's doing OK. Not as well as she had hoped, but probably where she should have expected to be. She somehow had the idea that she'd be almost back to normal in a couple of days. It's going to take a little longer. She stopped taking the Oxy yesterday even though she still has some discomfort at times. She hates taking Oxy at all for fear of getting addicted, even though all of her doctors have told her that it's needed. She's mostly bothered now by some numbness and tingling in her left leg and foot which is also normal as the nerve that the herniated disc pressed against gets resettled. That goes away in days to weeks. I'm going to see if she's up for a short walk today to get out of the house. Thanks for asking.
  6. We have our 30th anniversary coming up in September. Micheline has mentioned wanting to see Billy Joel before he stops touring, so I bought tickets at Madison Square Garden. I'm looking for suggestions from the NYC experts here on hotel choices. I'm OK with paying a little more for a nicer place. I am defaulting to staying somewhere close to MSG for convenience but if you have good suggestions for a better location, we can always Uber to/from the concert. I haven't booked flights yet but I'm guessing that we'll stay there 3 nights. Might as well get in some sightseeing and a couple of good meals while we're there.
  7. Traveling around the world for business gave me the opportunity to eat all kinds of interesting things. I'm generally an adventurous eater and will try just about anything. I had roasted crickets in Mexico and agree that they were tasty. Scorpions on a stick in China were interesting. Not bad tasting...just crunchy. Couldn't get myself to eat the live ones though. The thing that I liked the least was pig brains, also in China. They tasted too gelatinous. My hosts claimed that it was a delicacy reserved for honored guests, but I'm not sure that I buy that.
  8. It's probably for the best that you learned about her this way, rather than some incident involving your cats. Trustworthy pet sitters make all the difference in the world.
  9. If you can manage it, fly business class in a KLM plane rather than a Delta plane and get one of their Delft Blue Houses. They are small replicas of real Dutch buildings and they're filled with Dutch gin. I've got house number 87 (Het Peperhuis in Enkhiuzen) and house 72 (Singel 87 in Amsterdam). Frequent KLM flyers collect them and many have all 103 houses...some even 2 or more of each house. I would have loved to fly KLM more often but I usually ended up on Delta. I think KLM has better service than Delta.
  10. Sounds like you made the difficult but correct choice. Sorry that it couldn't have worked out better for you. I agree with your Painkiller prescription!
  11. Sounds like you had a fantastic trip. I understand how tiring it must have been to supervise Dick's driving. 😉 The food sounds like heaven. I could eat that stuff constantly and never get tired of it. Maine lobster is SO much better than the things that Royal serves in the MDR.
  12. Love these photos. Looks like you had a great trip catching up with old friends. When I was young, I used to really enjoy when our family took vacations like this. I remember one in NY on Lake George somewhere. Now, I think I'm too soft. 😁
  13. The entire Kennedy Center Honors piece for Led Zeppelin is really good, with Foo Fighters singing Rock and Roll (Dave Grohl on drums and Taylor Hawkins singing lead), Kidd Rock singing Ramble On, and Lenny Kravitz singing Whole Lotta Love. But the Wilson sisters and that backing orchestra steals the show. Foo Fighters does a great live version of Rock and Roll at Wembley in 2008 with Jimmy Page playing lead guitar and John Paul Jones playing bass (Grohl again on drums and Hawkins singing lead). Taylor does a pretty good impression of Robert Plant. RIP Taylor Hawkins. One of many gone way too soon.
