  1. I don't know about this cabin. We were in 14172 and the bed was on the left across from the TV on the wall. The closet was at the entrance to the cabin across from the bathroom.
  2. On the cruise we are debating on booking, we noticed the early dining time is already unavailable (even though it is 10 months away). Anyone had experience getting changed to it later or is it easy to do select dining and show up early? We obviously prefer the early dining.
  3. The web site says the Reflection is scheduled for refurbishing in 2023. Is that different than the revolutionizing that you are asking about?
  4. The only “secure” area is the pier where you get on and off the tender Very small area which I think may have had a little pharmacy. After you leave the secure area, there are many shops close by. It seemed to be a very safe, touristy area.
  5. We ordered a package of 12 liter sized water boxes and they were in our cabin when we boarded. You can buy as a 6, 12, or 24 package I think. The price wasn't too bad. That might be your best bet.
  6. We were on the Joy a few weeks ago and both Footloose and Elements were the big theater shows. Both were very well done. Very talented singers and dancers as well as impressive costumes and sets.
  7. The server would ask if we wanted to use one of our specialty dining package meals for the dinner or not. If we were using our package, they explained that we get an item from each section so there wasn't any confusion. If there was a surcharge, it was clearly noted on the menu.
  8. The boat that took us to Nevis was just a short, easy walk from the dock. I don't recall exactly how long the ride between stops on Nevis was but not long. It's a pretty small island. The bus dropped us off close to the beach and we were on the beach around 1 1/2 - 2 hours. Then we took the bus back to where we got on the small boat to go back to the ship.
  9. Look at the paper they give you when you board. They had a set time in the Social club where you could sign up for the shows that took reservations (Footloose, Elements, and comedians). It was very easy and people were there to sign you up. Otherwise, you can do it at the kiosks that are found near the elevators. There is a separate area where they do restaurant reservations. I believe it was near where most of the specialty dining rooms are. If you need to change entertainment reservations later, you can go to the box office (by the theater) and they can help you.
  10. The Starbucks did have a few baked goods available but I don't recall them having the sandwiches. They even sold their mugs and other items there.
  11. We ate at the Q for dinner one night but did not use a specialty dining deal for it. We just paid the a la carte price since we weren't wanting a big meal. The food was ok but nothing like the more upscale meals at Ocean Blue, etc. We did enjoy the experience because we enjoy country music and southern food as we live in North Carolina. They did a good job creating a different atmosphere in Q but unfortunately it didn't seem very popular...never close to being full. We found out you can go and sit in the small bar area and listen to the music without having dinner there. The country band was good and they also played on the pool deck one day.
  12. I would only get one Starbucks drink a day so definitely not worthwhile. I did download the Starbucks app and pre-loaded a gift card on it so all I had to do was scan my phone when I wanted a drink. Quick and easy and paid what I would normally pay at a store.
  13. We had a time of 9-9:30 and knew we probably wouldn’t be boarding they early but didn’t expect to wait 2 1/2 hours. The bus shuttle across the parking lot did seem ridiculous but you weren’t allowed to walk. There was another ship, Royal Caribbean ship, at the port so maybe that was part of the issue.
  14. We had a wonderful cruise on the Joy to the Mexican Riviera and have lots of positive feedback (cleanliness, layout, friendliness, food, entertainment), but I felt like I needed to express our dissatisfaction with the embarkation and disembarkation in San Pedro. We did put this in our post-cruise survey. It was a cool, rainy day when we were getting on the ship and we were kept under a tent at the port for almost 3 hours without any communication on why we were delayed. We were quickly checked in and given a number for boarding and sat in the folding chairs expecting numbers to be called out. People in the Haven were sitting in a section to themselves but in the same situation. FInally, someone got on the microphone which was barely audible in addition to an accent we could hardly understand. They started taking the Haven people first which is understandable. At this port, you had to take a shuttle bus a short distance to where you actually board so it was very time consuming. When they started calling numbers for everyone else, it was hard to hear. It didn't help that probably 3500 people were gathered in the tent. People who had higher numbers started complaining and the employee started trading higher numbers for lower numbers so they could skip ahead (for instance, trading number 22 for number 4). We were trying to patiently wait for our number (10) to be called but it was very unfair and chaotic. Not a good start to our cruise experience. At disembarkation, we lined up by the theater at the time we were given but no one seemed to even check that we were there at the right time so it was irrelevant. There were very few people to ask questions of. There were no chairs for elderly to sit in while they waited. Other cruises, we gathered in a dining room or other public area that was comfortable. When I went to use the restroom, I found out they were all locked on this deck (guess they'd already been cleaned for the next cruise). I would have had to get out of line and go to another deck to use the bathroom. Again, no one told us when we would be let off. Once we got off, we went to pick up our luggage. They were organized and we found one of our two pieces. We had to have help finding the second suitcase because it had other luggage piled on top of it, even though it was the smallest carry-on size. The worst part was there were large puddles of water and they had suitcases sitting in it. I attached a photo. We weren't happy about that at all. It was under a tent but they should have swept away the water or put tarps over it or something. I hope this isn't a common occurence.
  15. We took a Norwegian excursion in Cabo so the tender process was quick and easy. If you didn't have a ship excursion, you were advised to get a tender "ticket" which would give you a time to get off. It was a very short boat ride from the ship to the marina and they had plenty of tenders running.
  16. You are right. We may have just been lucky for the timing to work so well. They did drop people off at each terminal at LAX so we didn't have to walk far at all. I think the pricing would have been about the same for us to take an Uber so it's a matter of personal preference.
  17. We took an Uber from LAX to our hotel (Doubletree in San Pedro) and it was $56 (Friday afternoon). The Uber Black at the same time was about $110.
  18. We used the Norwegian cruise transfer from San Pedro port to LAX and it was $25/person. Buses were right by where we got our luggage and it didn't take long at all to get loaded and headed to the airport.
  19. We were just there and didn’t have any issues. We were with a ship excursion.
  20. Thank you. We ended up at Aqua Salada because they had open tables. TVs with football on. Good tacos. Right on the marina.
  21. We were just in the Joy and Ryan was the musician in District Brew House. We went to listen to him a few times. Plays piano and guitar and sings a variety of music. Takes requests. Sometimes people sing along. Would recommend checking him out.
  22. Does anyone have a recommendation where we could go to watch a NFL game while in Cabo? Somewhere in walking distance would be great. Thanks.
  23. We'll be going on the Joy soon and I wanted to make sure I understood the reservation system for entertainment. We have an early embarkation time and plan to make reservations when we get on the ship. I assume the reservations are just to get in at that time as opposed to reserved seating. I know the comedy club is smaller and we enjoy comedy so will definitely try to get reservations for it. What time are the shows there and are the same shows repeated? It says there are no reservations offered for the Cavern so I guess we just plan to arrive early. Thanks for any feedback.
  24. We checked in on our iphones and didn't have any problems. The one thing you might want to do ahead is take your photos. That makes it quick and easy to upload them when it asks for them.
