Just got back from Ncl getaway 12 nights January 2023. Ship docked at pier. Negotiated a cab to Puerto plata beach $50.00 and split it with another couple. Be firm if negotiations are altered as they tried to bump up to $75.00. I straighten it out before getting in cab. Definitely not a favorite place! Supposedly the Carnival area is very nice right off ship!

Did at home test before the cruise. Double vaccinated and double boosted and even the 5 th shot for new variants plus the flu shot! Enjoyed the 12 nights onboard getaway January 2023. Met a very nice couple in terminal and enjoyed them onboard until one day the lady said boyfriend is quarantine and she had to get him food and water and bring back up to her room. But she is free to come and go. Dancing by us. We thought we were okay because we also had covid19 in June of 2023, so thinking we’re supercharged against it! Long story short I felt rundown last 2 days and got home and tested positive again and took paxlovid again and 2 weeks later finally feeling a bit better! It’s out there! Beware but we still gotta live. We really enjoyed our cruise. New normal! But I was so excited to do another cruise soon and now I’m pumping my brakes. My daughter calls me CovidMan!

Just got off getaway 12 nights and only 2 cans of water and I swear booking said 6, we’re both Platinum so I’m thinking it was for that. So busy enjoying our cruise I forgot to question it. Did get the laundry and 2 specialty dinners and a bottle of wine though. Had to ask for bathrobes too!

I’m pretty sure I had a few capuchins and espresso coffee at elite breakfast area but it’s been a few years. Bloody Mary too! Nice place on eclipse and Equionox overlooking the water back of ship.

Just off getaway and ate at Cagney twice, shrimp cocktail, salad wedge and excellent ribeye steak! Cheesecake excellent. All included in package. Tried Moderno and walking out no charge inedible food! Tried le bestro was Le Let Down, tried La Cucina and adequate, ocean blue not good! But we’re from New England and used to great seafood and Boston great Italian food too! Next time more Cagney spaced out over cruise, incredible ribeye.

Elite lounge onboard the Equionox and Eclipse were in a bar 5 to 7 as I remember now. Thanks for your information. But I remember special breakfast area at back of ship on those 2 sailing but now I’m remembering it was at a specialty restaurant too. So no elite lounge ever existed. It’s been a while.

So it’s 5 to 7 drinks in any bar? Sorry to read this I thought it would be similar to RCL and drinks of 4 for Diamond/ Elite per pp per day anywhere including Labadee and Coco Cay. As my wife doesn’t drink and I have trouble with 8 drinks a day that was a nice benefit on RCL but as I’m chopping at the bit to get back on celebrity might have to adapt to the situation. Are elite lounges still onboard with specialty coffee machine and special breakfast too? Looking forward to Celebrity Summit soon 🔜 thanks

Yes and took a cab to Puerto plata beach! Shared cab with 2 others off ship for $50.00 round trip so $25.00 for wife and I. You have to be strong in negotiation cab. Bait and switch to $75.00 but I told guy off and immediately got the $50.00 rate. Driving through sketchy town! Lock up your window. Definitely not a favorite port!

Recently onboard the Adventure of the seas, and being Diamond enjoyed the 4 pp drink vouchers. My wife doesn’t drink much and even ask for 1/2 the alcohol in her drink and sometimes we didn’t use all 8 in a day. I’ve yet to see that Celebrity is doing similar thing. So anyone who knows please explain. I’ve only seen that celebrity still has elite lounge. Looking into Summit cruise soon and would love to know onboard elite benefits. Love the free laundry and dry cleaning. On RCL not having to sit in Diamond lounge was excellent. My wife absolutely hated that part of cruising in the past! Now with new vouchers on RCL and ability to use em in all the bars and on private island is a game changer! I’m praying that celebrity has same but yet to find it written anywhere! Dying to get back on Celebrity soooooon!

I’m convinced that $2.00 bill 💸 here or there are welcome. Occasionally an extra $10.00 for outstanding service. But if you are paying tips daily and cruises are not cheap and tips keep going up. That’s about it! I know folks who opt out of tips and say they give cash directly to each person, but also eat only at the buffet and are actually stiffing many causing regular tipping included folks to pay ever increase tips.

We parked at cruise port and walked off with luggage easy peasy and on the masspike in a short time. Make sure you park under a roof area! As 4 cars up and onward covered with dropping from seagulls! Yuck!

Trinity reservations for park sleep cruise! Best western elk horn Maryland is wonderful. Stain glass pub next door for excellent crab cakes. Indoor pool and sauna. Safe area. Great place with breakfast included.

Beat the bushes for park sleep cruise hotels! Then call for info as some have airports shuttle and cruise transport available. Boston is very expensive. Unless you stay in outskirts like Revere !

I’m intrigued with MSC as they have a multitude of opportunities for dancing in their daily activities schedule! Cruise ship prices seem reasonable too! Might give em a try next January. 20 nights cruises too! Only concerned about smoking onboard as they had a reputation for being a very Smokey cruise line but hopefully it’s been changed ! Beautiful ship too!

Okay we’ve used Trinity reservations for several times! New York City and Bayonne and Baltimore! Each time was a savings and easy peasy. Just got back home from January 2023 Ncl Getaway New York and staying at Newark NJ Spring Hill suites with parking hotel breakfast and dedicated suv driver for the 2 of us 12 nights at $423.00 total. 40 minutes to ship and off ship even quicker back to hotel. Actually had exactly same driver from a May 2022 Bayonne NJ cruise, wonderful folks. Advise go to the website and study options as I mistakenly booked online and $515.00 option for up to 5 people and I called them, Bruce called back and adjusted the booking and credit my account. Wonderful people! Used the embassy suites in May

Manhattan cruise port is New York City, Bayonne New Jersey is elsewhere, might be one in Brooklyn but never used it. Suggest that you fly in day early and check out tri ni Ty reservations for hotel and transportation. We’ve used them several times in New York City and Bayonne and Baltimore too! Last trip January 2023 dedicated suv with round trip service to and from beautiful sprin hill suites in Newark New Jersey . Keep in mind sometimes Newark has cheaper flights !

We were chopping at the bit to get back onboard so after postponing our January 2022 Anthem cruise we went on the Adventure outta Bayonne in May 2022 biggest issue was Bermuda and no longer a separate test and charge of $40 per person multiple times 2,400 passengers was a $96,000 windfall for Bermuda each ship. 9 nights cruise started off great with tons of activities and fun but towards the end it was mostly karaoke and silent disco. Again towards the end lots of folks wearing masks and I heard 150 quarantine onboard. Enjoyed the first cruise Diamond 4 drinks a person per day anywhere great! Food and service decent too. Need more live music and dancing opportunities! Came back home with covid19 both of us, but we had a good time! Just got off NCL 12 nights on getaway January 2023! We’re platinum on Ncl and we like to enjoy both RCL and Ncl too., Amazing time dancing and live music with wonderful reggae band and Latin duo too. Food decent but specialty dinners lacking. Also came home with covid19! Second time with paxlovid too. In my opinion cruises are cutting back on many things but if you get onboard with a smile and keep smiling it’s beautiful experience. We’re north of 65 and love activities so Ncl is the best for live music and dancing! Over 20,000 steps daily. Stretch class 7 am abs class 7:30, fun Zumba type class 8:45, 11 am dance class in atrium, dancing by pool reggae live band, spice H20 dance night and bliss lounge dancing with live music mojitos bar dancing with Latin duo! Very active cruise!

For us as we’re not big drinkers that regular plan was fine on January getaway. My wife actually asked for half the alcohol in her drinks and sometimes just a virgin drink towards evening end. The mojitos bar has excellent mojitos the satellite blast off drink and ginger mojitos were excellent. The painkillers by the pool with Myers’s dark rum floater are excellent too. Gin is Bombay perfect for gin and tonic. Red stripe beer and corona very good and Stella on draft by pool too! Absolutely best drink ever was Matador in the O Sheehan pub bar but only there as elsewhere it was terrible. Long Island ice tea were a disaster. Frozen drinks by pool pre made in my opinion to be avoided. Great thing to do is ask others what they are drinking? Also check out the individual bar menus available in each bar! By Cagney is a bar with cosmos and many enjoying em.

Use your certificate to get to Platinum! We’re just off the getaway and for 12 nights we enjoyed dancing opportunities with excellent live bands to the point of 20,000 plus steps. Platinum includes free laundry and 2 specialty dinners too! We enjoy em every time and I get my laundry done before I go back home. O Sheehan Pub around the clock has decent food but the chicken wings are just okay now, more like baked. The Reuben sandwich was great. Salads too!

My wife and I are cruisers with over 45 spread out to Platinum on NCL, Elite on Celebrity, Diamond on RCL, a number of carnival and quite a few Princess, one HAL toooooo young for that, one Premier our first cruise. So the Getaway has many great things. Excellent band called Zenhitt with amazing Marsha singing. Played really great Reggae by the pool and had us dancing daily, great Motown and dancing in atrium and Bliss lounge too. Excellent ABBA tribute in another room. Dance floor was always packed. You’ll enjoy them if onboard soon. Mojitos bar has an excellent duo with dancing in the hallway this duo also played in atrium with dancing floor packed too. Spice H20 had many dancing parties that went late into the night with Alvin the CD and very good activities staff. Pool area was nice and bar staff was great. Devin was an excellent waiter for getting a drink quickly! Back of ship Spice H20 during the day was nice but as you can smoke there quite a bit of that. I didn’t notice any smoke stack issues while there many times in the evening and a few in the day. Ropes course is excellent wishing we did it twice. If you’re able give it a try. Wife did zip line twice and walked out on the plank while I hugged a pole! Burn the floor was amazing and saw em twice in theater. Saw em once performing in Tropicana restaurant which had the worst service but great dancing. We enjoyed burn the floor dancing instructions in atrium.amazing athletic dancers. No assortment of Tea onboard, Lipton or one other English tea, no green tea so bring your own. Outta of bananas day 4! I kept asking and was informed it’s a ligigistics thing, in the Caribbean where bananas are grown, but you can’t get em? Outta of New York City so it’s a bit different vibe! Have your elbows sharp! Example in the packed stretch class instructor locks door class full starts at 7 am someone bangs on door at after 7:15 he says class full come back at 7:30 for abs but instead a native New Yorker gets up at let’s in 4 friends. A guy walks in and sits on a ladies mat. And she’s lovely and from New York too, but nice. Same group moved our stuff and sat down while we’re dancing I got em out of our chairs immediately. Another time that same guy falls asleep in my chair in atrium while I’m dancing we had wife’s purse and coat on our chairs with drinks I shook him awake and kicked him out again. But that’s all fun for us from New England! Many wonderful people we enjoyed meeting from UK, Pennsylvania Europe and Canada and many nice folks from Jersey and New York too. Ice cream in buffet was great hard and cold with wide variety. Walking out of Moderno as it was terrible, Cagney was great others specialty dinners adequate but no wow! We enjoyed over 20,000 steps onboard so if you need to dance we highly recommend the Getaway with the live music and dancing opportunities you’ll enjoy.
