As an NYC resident, I appreciate the dumb NYC rules as I love tourists funding my city services with their tax dollars, thank you. It is tax, not drink plan and since MSC sells the drink package as part of their transportation ticket there is no tax added to drinks sold while in port unlike other cruise lines that sell their drink packages as a separate service. Take a cruise out of Baltimore and their dumb rules (state tax in this case) have you paying state tax the entire time you are in the Chesapeake Bay transiting to the Atlantic Ocean on any and all purchases including drinks.

It's a ten-day cruise, I'm sure there would be at least one alternate side parking day the car would be illegally parked. All of NYC is a tow zone, you can be towed for any infraction including an expired meter. There are areas of NYC, sections of Staten Island, that do not have Alternate Side parking days but I don't know if Red Hook is one of them.

Not too long ago only NCL and Cunnard sailed out of NYC in December and January and except for the Christmas and New Year's cruises that were 7-day they were 14-day cruises.

Not too long ago there were very few cruises from NYC in the winter (ok late December) you had NCL and Cunnard in 2018 and except for 7-day cruises around Christmas and New Year's the cruises were 14 days so time up north was limited.
