  1. Simple, OP followed the procedure to inform the cruise line/ship that they weren't going to sail not the one for Covid refund policy. This allowed them to be able to offer the cabin for upgrade to those onboard quicker 😁
  2. All the times in the Yacht Club I've gotten the email, never had my selections in the cabin. Only when the Butler asked the same questions and it was 50/50 that they would ask without prompting "Where is my bottle of Jack?"
  3. Plausible, keep just enough speed for steerageway and go with the Gulf Stream. Trying different approaches to the Cay seeing how the wind acted on the ship. Maybe their weather forecast said the winds would die down but didn't. Nassau is very busy, line handlers and time in the turning basin as the rotate who turns before or after docking.
  4. All the major car rentals have local offices just a few miles away in the area called "Downtown Brooklyn". Hertz Local Edition (HLE) on Union St just 2.2 miles away. Avis or National on State Street 1.5 miles away.
  5. Talk to your Concierge and they can arrange with the MDR Matradee so you can dine in the Aurea MDR. I would not show up unannounced.
  6. Sounds like they have switched to boxes of wine and well drinks Oh my!!
  7. Best way would be Blade Helicopter takes 10 minutes. Best way is Blade Helicopter, only 10 minutes. https://www.blade.com/airport Next best would be Uber/Lyft ride share and not Yellow Taxi As for Yellow Medallion Taxi $1.75 for pick up only at LaGuardia and John F. Kennedy Airports, Standard metered fare. Plus $20.00 Newark Surcharge. Plus tip and tolls to and from EWR (passengers are charged for the drivers’ return tolls). The on-screen rate message should read "Rate #3 - Newark Airport." Next is an airport shuttle like ETS https://www.etsairportshuttle.com/laguardia-to-newark-shuttles There are airport shuttle buses for around $21 as well see CoachUSA for times. You also have public transportation NYC Bus like M60 or Q70 SBS to the subway to NJ Transit Train to the AirTrain.
  8. Easier to just charge a slot machine to your onboard account and then cash in the voucher at the cage or voyager machine if the ship has one.
  9. Nope, never been asked for a cruise card for soft serve ice cream, unlike the gelato 😁
  10. Yes other cruise lines do not currently charge fuel surcharge but all of their cruise contracts have language that they can add that fuel surcharge when the cost of a barrel goes over X and X has been reached and exceeded. MAS just is following thru and passing on the fuel cost and as a fee doesn't have to collect taxes on it. I assume the other mass market cruise lines even though in their contract says they can have just raised the cost of the cruise instead of breaking out the fuel surcharge as an itemized item.
  11. LOL, searches not here and not on other social media sites that face a book. Same questions over and over. Even simple ones like parking at ports that have their own websites you can get the actual answer. Amazing how people belive social media sites and wiki sites.
  12. You can do it both ways, all depends on traffic and if you want to drag the bag. You even do not have to drop the bags at the YC tent it will still have priority handling and get to your room. In fact on one voyage my bag not drop at the tent got to the YC cabin faster than on a voyage I did drop the bag at the tent. Everything at the Brooklyn port is close and not a far walk. You actually walk further on the ship from bow to stern. Parking is in an outside lot, there is no parking garage. I don't drink beer and only diet soda (Pop) and the Butler had no problem replacing the bear and non-diet soda and kept the fridge stocked for the entire trip. As to more snacks, just ask your Butler they tend not to say NO but don't leave anything extra out in the cabin.
  13. The cruise line has to pay a fee to Bermuda to open the casino at 9:00 pm. MSC did it for 2023 but I do not know if they have or will pay the fee for 2024. One can assume so. The shops are closed while in port otherwise, they would not be duty and tax-free.
  14. Some bars/bar tenders will still request a card even if you have the band. That is my experience or data point for you YMMV.
  15. You are supposed to fill out the health questionnaire on embarkation day hence it is in the edocs after you do the online check-in. This is one from May, not that complicated and if required they will have a form at the port for you to fill out. To assist us in preventing the spread of communicable diseases during your cruise, we require you to answer the following questions: Do you or any person listed below have a fever, feels feverish PLUS has any ONE of the following additional symptoms? - Cough, Runny Nose, Sore Throat - Within the last 2 days, have you or any person listed below developed any symptoms of vomiting and/or diarrhea? If you answered YES to any of the questions above, you will be assessed free of charge by a member of our shipboard medical staff. Names of all minors traveling with you: 1. 2. 3. 4. Personal Emergency Contact Details (Name, Relationship, Phone Number) I understand this Questionnaire may be forwarded to the health authorities. I have answered truthfully. I understand a false declaration can affect my health and safety as well as that of other Guests and crew. Signature of every adult. For Guests under 18 years of age, an adult companion will sign. Signature:
  16. The picture will and most likely be retaken at the Port. In fact almost everything can be done at the port. I have never gotten my picture accepted by the app and always done at the check-in with the port contractor that handles the check-in. I even had my picture retaken by ship security because they didn't like it when I first scanned onto the ship even though it was done at the port.
  17. Page 5 of your booking confirmation if MSC booked and in US is per person, boldng and underlining is mine. You get two devices, once that device is registered to the WiFi account number on your cruise card you can't change the device. Log in your phone and tablet to that cruise card number you can't remove one and add a laptop. What we do is Mrs. Brighton signs in her cell phone and I use her card to sign in my work laptop. My card is my cellphone and the tablet we share. PRIVILEGES - Dedicated priority check-in and check-out as well as priority departure and return on excursion days - 24-hour butler service and dedicated concierge - Room Service available 24 hours - Premium Extra Drink package in all ship areas including the mini bar in your suite - Browse Internet package (2 devices Unlimited Internet Package) - Complimentary access to the Thermal Area in the MSC Aurea Spa - Relaxation amenities in each suite (including bathrobe, and slippers) - Pillow menu - Other personal touches: luggage packing/unpacking service, newspaper directly delivered in cabin on request - MSC for Me wristband (where available)
  18. In the US booked directly with MSC you have to call MSC to pay gratuities before boarding and if you booked through a TA then call your TA.
  19. US citizen on a cruise starting and ending in same US port does not need a passport. You do need to prove US citizenship and your identity hence the original birth certificate a d government issued picture ID or equivalent like passport card. You can't fly without passport.
  20. Remove tips at Customer Service but make sure you tip the bar backs that bring up the bottles of booze you drink from or they guy that loads the clean towels for your room steward. Search them out since you cheap out and remove tips and only pay the people you directly interact with.
  21. I have to echo that, we took the Bermuda Ferry to St. George and when we were done took a local bus to Hamilton. It was great to see Bermuda and meet the polite Bermudans on the bus, constantly offering me their seat when the bus got full and I stood up for an elderly person. Then it was the Hamilton Ferry back to the ship.
  22. Not my experience in YC. The concierge was constantly breaking or combining bills for guests as well as staff on the last day. I've even tipped the lounge butler for the excellent service, and drinks without asking.
  23. They don't carry WABC as a television station so they would have to pay to get the feed, so I would say no they won't show it or do anything about it.
  24. The bill covers both ports Manhattan and Brooklyn. Manhattan doesn't even have shore power and Brooklyn's does not match what MSC has on board hence the NYCEDC opposition to the the bill as the NYCEDC would have to find a way to pay for the upgrade at both ports with Manhattan handling up to four ships at a time. This bill would also require EDC as a condition of the contract with the city’s cruise terminals upon provision of a community traffic mitigation plan prior to allowing access. These community traffic mitigation plans would outline measures to reduce the traffic, noise, and pollution caused by increased activity at cruise terminals. Brooklyn terminal has been there since 2006 and the Manhattan has been having cruise ships dock there for over a hundred years in one form or another since 1920 (Piers 84 to 94 now only 88-92). Not like you didn't know curise ships arrived at these ports.
  25. What damage can be done? The keycard is missing you report it. The card is disabled and you get another card. You can even get security to come open the cabin and inspect it before you enter, at least I would if the keycard is missing. Even when I enter a hotel room, I block the door open and go through the entire room checking everything from behind the curtains, inside the closet to the bathroom. It is not just the keycard at the door, many people in the hotel on on a ship have access to the room when it is not occupied. Leaving keycards at the door is no greater security risk IMHO.
