  1. The Master has an entire metrological staff at cruise headquarters, real weather geeks with PhDs and real time weather readings from the right on the ship backing him up compared to Joe Cruiser on the ship sticking his wet finger in the air. Those cruisers should bring the old Bermuda weather rock with them probably be a better forecast. I heard a Carnival ship had to have a two-tug assist to get into port, missed the ship name. Now that is an expense but safety first.
  2. Looked at Lyft and Uber, Lyft was $20 bucks to Cocoa Beach, we then walked to Ron Jon's which was about a mile or less. Then took a Lyft back to the ship again in the $20 range and we didn't wait long going as we got off the ship well after arrival. Trip back wait was even shorter.
  3. Which they can't do as there is no call at a foreign port under PVSA. I sure do miss the cruises to nowhere (CTN) that did 2 or 3 days. The one day were just too short and full of too many bachlor/et parties.
  4. More than likely you didn't lock it completely and it fell off. Normally your bag is not opened by port personnel that scan the bag but it is put aside and you are called down to open it in front of security crew members. Some cruisers say you are called to the "Naughty Room". That said, TSA master keys have been known to be duplicated this isn't some high-tech secret lock with "Do Not Duplicate" imprinted on it that only an official government employee has access to open. They aren't launch keys, Master Keys have been copied. Or you can apply pressure to the closed lock push the button or pull the lock, turn the dial to hear a click, repeat for the other dials and you will get the right number and open the lock.
  5. Depending on the type ship you can access your bill on your stateroom TV or MSC App.
  6. I believe the Meraviglia at full occupancy for the YC is around 230 people. That is every YC cabin carrying their max allowed pax. Most cruise lines consider the ship full at double occupancy of every cabin and not max occupancy (not counting solo cabins).
  7. Both cruises YC. Not long, timing is difficult due to the "traffic control". Port workers enforce the use of crosswalks and allow crossing of traffic lanes at crosswalks only. Phyiscally bar people from "jay walking" (Welcome to NYC). The crowds build up sometimes before they allow pedestrians to cross. It is a very short walk as seen on the above picture. 5 minutes most again pending on crowding and traffic movement.
  8. Now as a point of reference on my first cruise in late May I did not drop my bags at the tent, just gave it to a porter with tip. Those bags arrived in my cabin before I did that cruise (in cabin 1:30ish) and on my November cruise giving my bags in at the tent I didn't get them until almost 5 pm. So no eal worry if you have mobility issues and hand them to a standard porter. Of course, this could also be dependant on the individual departure day as well so YMMV!
  9. Meraviglia has the tissue slot but we had trouble getting the tissues out so we opened another box left it on the vanitity and had no issues with the junior butler he just left it there (moved it around cleaning I assumed).
  10. For my November 13th cruise the tent was the last Bus parking spot closest to the ship one row over from what is pictured in post #2. There were no buses when my Uber arrived and he took us right up to the tent. Actually what I said "See the tent, that's where you can drop us". Now if there are buses you might not see the tent.
  11. Sailed the Pride out of Baltimore and fell in love with the smaller ship so will probably be more likely to try this MAS ship than the one out of PBI.
  12. It is up to the Bar Tender from my experinece non-Yacht Club.
  13. Except for Yacht Club, drinks in the cabin refrigerator are charged when taken even if you have the top-level drink package. The best is to ask the Steward to remove everything and stop by a bar for a bottle of water and bring it to the cabin. Heck even when I was in Yacht Club I got the bottle of water from the bar as it was colder than anything left in the cabin "cooler".
  14. Please remember most content creators on YouTube are looking for monetary compensation so they will lead with "shocking" pictures and comments. Yes, there are issues but when you watch a 12-minute clip about the worst cruise in my life what do you expect to see? There is always some clickbait in the production of those videos.
  15. Uber if you scroll down to the "More" section has Car Seat option, it's only one though, same with Lyft. I don't know how you would get two car seats. Passengers riding in Taxi & limousine plated for-hire vehicles (have T&LC Plates) are allowed to bring and install their own car seats and not be charged for the time to do so. In any case, Children under the age of seven are permitted to sit on an adult's lap in a T&LC Plated car.
  16. Even when you have life vests in the cabin there are more than enough where you board the lifeboats and even on the lifeboats. Not every emergency has you returning to your cabin, they hope for that but they have to have enough
  17. That's the rule, you can always ask and may get a different result and I have also recognized the extra service
  18. It starts with the price point and accepting some shortcomings. I have sailed twice and have not had issues. Yes issues with passengers behaving badly (great title for TV show) but not MSC crew.
  19. Land casinos who do not give back change, some of them set up donation boxes for that less than a dollar vouchers.
  20. Machine next to me had a stuck voucher for $0.30. Yes I tried to get it but SOL. An MSC casino worker opened the machine cleared it, took the voucher and shut down the machine and walked away Now how are you telling me that this employee pocketed the voucher and did not just destroy it since it expires in 14 days anyway It's single person since I assume that as in a land casino this employee does not have access to the cash box of the machine which in a land casino needs two people to get to the cash What proof are you saying this employee then cashed the voucher within the 14 days. Can't do it at the cage so your saying he walked to the machine that cashes the voucher which has at least two cameras pointed at it? I have a bridge here in Brooklyn I can sell ya.
  21. Point of reference the Lyft Black that took me to the Brooklyn port had phones for Uber and Dial 7 and while we were in traffic approaching the port was looking on both for a pickup trip from the port. I requested Lyft XL but got Black at no extra charge and a full-size SUV.
  22. Yes as long as there is no surge protection or a way for the power to be cut off due to overload. Surge protectors are not allowed on cruise ships because they increase fire risk. The reason this danger exists is that a normal surge protector only breaks the circuit on the “live” electrical wire, whereas both the “live” and “neutral” wires carry current on a cruise ship.
  23. Stayed on the ship. In June did the 7 day to Port Canaveral and Nassau so it was Deja Vu all over again to quote Yogi In June we took and Uber to Coco Beach and walked to Ron Jon's and then back to the ship to watch the dogs sniff the pallets as the ship provisions in Florida when it stops there.
  24. Arrival would have been the 15th which also had the Apex and was sunny while we were in rainy Port Canaveral and then very rough seas to Nassau which also rained. Yes, the sick bags were out on our trip and everyone was complaining that Bermuda was sunny. But enough thread drift here. I'll be back in Bermuda in late April/May.
  25. I did a one-way rental from NYC to BWI and took a cab to the port which was a flat fee plus tip.
