  1. I also enjoyed the dinner with an officer on NCL, we got the security officer and his wife (who was sailing B2B with him for 2 cruises) and it was very interesting and enlightening.
  2. You do know this thread is over a year old and things may have changed.
  3. There are local car rentals in "downtown" Brooklyn even in the Brooklyn Marriot. All the majors have them. Hertz calls them HLE or Hertz Local Edition and I've used them for rentals. Avis and Enterprise also have them and it is a simple Uber ride to the port. Hertz at 92 Boerum Pl, Brooklyn, NY 11201 is only 2 miles away from the Brooklyn Port for example.
  4. Just an idea, in US when lost luggage the cruise line blamed the port staying it got off the ship and after that the port contractor is responsible. I don't know how it is handled in Barcelona but you might want to contact the port as well. I won't go into the finger-pointing that ensued and how the heck did the cruise line knew it got off the ship it is not like the airport where they scan the luggage tags when it comes off the plane.
  5. MSC Meraviglia did not sail to Bermuda on November 13th, it was rerouted to Port Canaveral and Nassau.
  6. Future cruise salesman in board once again hinted at it trying to make double points for Diamond member sound important.
  7. Price drop before final payment you will have to cancel and rebook. Canceling your room goes back in to the pool so you might not get it.
  8. For US citizens with passports it is facial recognition, individual walk up to machine and scan your face. Border turns green and off you go. Turn s red rescan, red again you have to see a C&BP Officer with your documents. Any other nationality or BC and ID I do not know the process. It took 5 minutes total for me the walk out of the building was longer There are just port contractors at the machines directing you as appropriate
  9. Make sure MSC site hasn't been hacked. Any improvements could be a DOS attack.
  10. It's not bad, simple roll. I have been on much worse. There are no sick bags placed out. Nothing is falling off tables, I am not falling out of my bed.. It's November in the Atlantic and we are following a low up the coast. Heck we even saw two rainbows and then went straight into a rain squall. Now when we hit those whales and there is a loud bang with a shake now that's scary.
  11. What has happened to the live has it gone to memorex?
  12. 130k gross tons is small? Meraviglia is 40k tons bigger
  13. Hotel staff do not make navigation requests. He would be reprimanded and possibly fired.
  14. This is not heavy movement at all. They haven't even put out the sick bags or closed the outside decks.
  15. Then explain why Apex which is a larger ship is there in the sun today Wednesday and I'm in Florida in the rain with canceled shore-x for today and tomorrow. We could have gone to Bermuda and left a day early with another sea day instead of visiting the two worse ports MSC calls at.
  16. Drinking age in US is usually based on what it is at the Home Port, gets too confusing changing for each port of call
  17. There are also multiple ride-share app companies in NYC. You have Uber, Lyft and Revel you an also use an app to call/reserve a yellow taxi and by a yellow taxi rate per mile or a charge per minute below a small speed. I always open the apps and compare ride share prices.
  18. Heavens no, my bulter is called to close the curtains every evening of course.
  19. We are in YC as well please contact my agent for my hourly rate if you want me to be included in your live broadcast.
  20. At embarkation in the United States security is not handled by the ship. Scanning is done by port contractors.Since Port Carnavial is an embarkcation port even though the ship might be calling as a port of call they use the contractors. Different contracting/ports enforce the rules differently so always when someone asks can I bring chocolate milk or Titos on board it is Your Mileage May Vary YMMV type of answer other than the official MSC Contract of Carriage "NO".
  21. Which ship? They have a few you know. For MSC Meraviglia cabin walls and door are magnetic.
  22. So, armchair lawyers, the OP boarded at the embarkation port. Are they entitled to embarkation port fees and taxes back or only the ports they didn't visit?
  23. 18 posts before someone said Interlopers...
  24. Not just MSC, Royal and Carnival missed their Bahama private island calls because of the wind/tides as well.
  25. NYC Ferry operated by Hornblower on the East River between Brooklyn/Queens and Manhattan boats are not assigned seats. It is a double-hull catamaran. The lower deck that you board over a ramp has indoor seating divided by two isles. Some seats face each other with a table between them. There is also a small refreshment stand selling food/snacks/beverages including adult drink variants. If you walk through aft to the rear and outside you can climb stairs to the upper deck where there is limited outside seating. No one is allowed to stand on the front of the boat when it is underway and the stairs on the front from the upper deck are usually only used to exit at Wall Street. Only the DUMBO route get very crowded in the Summer with tourists that the boat gets to capacity and people are refused boarding from my experience. YMMV The best way is to purchase your ticket on their phone app but ticket machines are at every pier that take cash and credit card. If you are using a physical ticket you need to ask for a transfer (might have changed, long time since I transferred). Disabled and Senior fares you need to register for and are not available for purchase just by walking up. Yes, there are lines at the pier queued up by the destination. First come first served and standees are allowed. $4 fare one way. From New Jersey: People are confusing this ferry service with the one to Ikea and/or to/from New Jersey which is operated by New York Waterway and uses different types of boats and mainly operates across the Hudson River (North River for nautical types). You could go on NY Waterway ferry to Peir 11 Wall Street and by a separate ticket for NYC Ferry from Wall St to Red Hook Atlantic Basin but the pier 11 NY Waterway service runs on weekdays and is limited times fare ranges from $8.50 to $13.50 Example Hoboken to Wall St is $8.50 weekdays only 7 departures from Hoboken between 6 and 9:50.
