  1. I think you learned how to use it effectively. I never got it working on my recent cruise on the Dawn. I’m sure it is just me.
  2. Shorter boats are definitely more maneuverable, which can make a difference in shallow water.
  3. My first pair of cycling gloves had crocheted backs. I looked like I had the measles with a polka-dotted tan.
  4. I have found that sitting backwards can help. Instead of things zooming by your head, they recede into the distance. It doesn’t work for me all the time, but it has been helpful.
  5. Actually, for river cruising that is unusual. Dock times can be very flexible due to river traffic, locks, and river levels.
  6. I think the big difference is that on Silversea you only need your keycard to open the door to your suite and check off and on the ship, rather than having to use it multiple times per day to charge something to your cabin. I was very happy to have the phone on a lanyard with a pocket for the keycard, especially when I discovered that I didn't need to pull it out to use it; I could just put the phone next to the sensor pad. Except for my reading glasses, it was generally all I carried around with me, except for my cane when the seas got rough.
  7. But if you don’t have Nexus already you can’t cross that bridge, because you have to show a Nexus card at the Canadian side to open the automatic gate. So you might as well do it at the Peace Bridge.
  8. Whirlpool is a Nexus only bridge in Niagara Falls. It has customs agents for US and Canada at their respective ends of the bridge, but as far as I know it is NOT a Nexus enrollment centre.
  9. I loved the Anthropology Museum when I was there eons ago when I was a kid.
  10. I just got off the Dawn, Oslo to Copenhagen from June 15-29 going up to North Cape. I would not call any of our weather cold, except perhaps going up to Mt Dalsnibba in a cold rain. I was in a Vista suite, but many of the people I talked with made use of their balconies. There were times I wouldn’t have minded one myself, but I considered even the Vista suite a stretch.
  11. The important thing is to select it off the drop-down list, otherwise you just get text.
  12. Dining reservations open up 120 days before sailing, at midnight GMT.
  13. Carol King wasn’t alone on her earlier material. She wrote the music with Gerry Goffin writing lyrics, until she went out on her own.
  14. This is from the Twelve South website, about hearing aids and Airfly. Mine are Oticon so I guess I’m out of luck. https://support.twelvesouth.com/en-US/airfly-with-hearing-aids-288258
  15. I think it is just a website, but I’m not certain. There was a QR code involved. I don’t believe you can do anything to get it before you board.
  16. I never got it to work at all.
  17. I stand corrected. All the discussions about the $180 upcharge I read here referred to La Dame, but you are correct; that charge is for S.A.L.T. Chef’s Table. On the Dawn it was called S.A.L.T. Kitchen and did not have an upcharge.
  18. No it isn’t 3. What @Observer called the Chef’s Table is La Dame. The other upcharge restaurant is Kaiseki.
  19. I was in Oslo for 4 days, then a 2 week cruise all in Norway except I disembarked in Copenhagen yesterday. I am on the second of 4 days here. I have not changed any money, nor have I had any need for cash anywhere.
  20. My hearing aids also pair well with my phone. As I said, I haven’t tried them with the Airfly (which I purchased before getting the hearing aids. I didn’t try it on my current trip because I am flying business class and they have decent over-the-ear headphones. However, the cord was an issue.
  21. That rail would be very difficult for me to reach on most of the wide/bodies I typically fly.
  22. The Airfly uses bluetooth, not wi-fi. My hearing aids are bluetooth. But they use low-energy bluetooth (BLE) which I understand is not compatible with the Airfly although I haven’t tested it myself.
  23. And on my recent cruise on the Dawn. Spaccanapoli is open from early lunch through to late, but their choices are only pizza. You can order there from the grill dinner menu, but again only from 7.
  24. Nobody on our ship would have made the first departure of the train independently. They were having enough trouble getting the people for the first excursion departures ( which included the Flåm train) onto tenders. I don’t think they were letting any independent travellers of until after our excursion left.
