  1. Hi Bill and Mary Ann, Another question or two as we are starting to pack. How many electrical outlets are there in a Verandah cabin? Will an extension cord with multiple outlets work in this cabin, or will we blow a fuse? As far as you know, are Covid tests still required to board this ship on Mon. Oct. 3? I have heard that they were discontinued as of Sept. 30 (rumor only). Again, thanks.
  2. Hi Bill and Mary Ann, Two more questions before we board next week: Is there a bank of separate quarantine rooms and if so where are they located? Are people dressing up for dinner; jackets and ties for men, or just casual slacks and shirts? Thank you.
  3. Thank so much for taking time to answer our questions. See you on board. Marilyn and Lew
  4. Our son had an F1suite. His Verandah was much smaller than ours; we were in a Concierge D suite and had a full chaise lounge on the Explorer. This year we also checked the categories and they remain the same. Concierge and above have larger verandahs.
  5. On Explorer and Splendor, the Concierge cabins have a larger Verandah, which also includes a chaise lounge and chairs. The cabins below Concierge have a smaller Verandah and do not include full chaise lounges.
  6. Do you remember the suite number or what deck and location that it was on? We’ll be on the Splendor in a couple of months and I’m a light sleeper.
  7. Hi Bill and Mary Ann, We will be on the Zuiderdam for 59 days beginning Oct. 3. From SD to Ft. L, arriving Dec. 1. We have a few questions to ask, so we know what it will be like on the ship. We are 4 Star Mariners and have been on the Zuiderdam before, many years ago, but not recently. 1. What is the MDR like; is it possible to get a table for 2 away from other diners, or is it one table on top of another? We have open seating, is there a recommended time to get there when it will not be as crowded? I know that it does depend upon the number of cruisers on the ship, but what is your opinion at this time. 2. What % of passengers are masked? Do they mask at all? 3. Where do you generally have lunch? We are thinking of getting lunch at the buffet, masked, and bringing it outside to eat it. The weather will be warm, so we feel that this is a good option. 4. Have you attended any CC functions? If so, have they generally been masked? 5. We are not comfortable with large group tours, do you think that it will be possible to arrange private tours at the pier after we dock? 6. Our Verandah cabin is on deck 4 toward the very back of the ship, starboard. As far as you can tell is this a quiet area(no loud engine noises, vibrations, etc). If it is not, we still have time to change our cabin. Thank you in advance for your answers. Marilyn and Lew
  8. Thank you for this information. I hope that our pCP will also give us Paxlovid before we leave on our cruise. I don't know why they are reluctant to do so; we will be cruising for 60 days, anything is possible. We also intend to be very careful, mask and avoid crowds.
  9. You are correct, but it was Cunard that gave us the $250. Military credit, not HAL.
  10. My husband used to receive $250. OBC for a 14+ day cruise. Now it looks like it is only $100. no matter the length of the cruise.
  11. If a passenger on board tests positive to Covid and is symptomatic, are antivirals like Paxlovid offered to them?
  12. We had afternoon tea served every afternoon in our Neptune Suite. It was a British tea with sandwiches, scones and wonderful desserts. This was just 3 months ago, so, yes, they are still doing it. The Neptune Lounge concierge will arrange this for you.
  13. We are looking at the Infinity for a Caribbean cruise next month. Has the ship been revolutionized? Are the rooms upgraded and have glass showers replaced the curtained ones?
  14. We were on the NS this March and just wrote in whatever we wanted for breakfast and it was delivered. I don’t know whether our being in a Neptune Suite made a difference or not.
  15. Just reviewed a YouTube recording by someone who was in Aft Balcony Cabin 5188 on the QE last month. They claimed that the vibration was so loud that it disturbed their sleep. We will also be in an aft balcony cabin on deck 5 next month. Has anyone had a problem with loud vibration in this area?
  16. Pacific Rim on Explorer was our favorite restaurant; dined there three times in a ten day period. We also enjoyed Prime 7 and Setta Mari and loved having lunch at La Veranda at the back of the ship.
  17. We are on a back to back cruise beginning in Rome to Barcelona, then Barcelona to Ft. Lauderdale. I have not been able to get correct information from HAL staff as to what is required when we reach Barcelona. Do we have to get off the ship and go through registration again? Are we required to fill out a Spanish Health form? Are we given or asked to produce a negative antigen test? If you know the answers, please let me know.
  18. Were you tested at the airport for Covid before being allowed to fly home?
  19. Thank you so much for posting this. I have sent a copy to my brother who will be in Europe and is concerned about how he can return to the USA in case he has a positive Covid result while there.
