  1. I have sadly moved on. No more zip lock bags for me. Progressed to those bags that have the sliders. And I have the perfect containers for my peanut butter cookies so that they don't crumble. How do you donate clothes at the end of the cruise?
  2. Mission Accomplished: "If only I had an airtag" This is the end of this adventure (I think). Owner of the bag daughter-in-law drove up to the curb, called Tanya, and she had someone bring the bag out to the car. Terrific curbside service. I won't speak for anyone else, but personally found the Emerald Princess to be up there with the rest of the cruises I've been on since the restart. Buffet was okay, but I am not a buffet person. They had my Peanut Butter cookies at the IC. MDR dining was beyond fabulous. I gained pounds. AND my blood pressure is lower than it has been in months. All I can say is that I did not have much planned for this cruise except to renew friendships. I wasn't able to give Apple Device lessons that I had planned on. Nor was I able to read any of my digitally borrowed books or compose a writing piece for a group I participate in. I did walk a couple of miles at each port (except Ensenada). The cruise was all that I expected except for the little "glitch" at the end. My mantra is: Everything is fixable. If it doesn't work the first time, you do what you need to do to make it a success. I'm just happy to be on a cruise ship. Until my next voyage.....Pollyanna signing off.
  3. I know you are new to Cruise Critic and Welcome. Please review your posts before hitting the Submit Reply blue button or edit for format. Yes, the Hawaii cruise will have Hawaiian Ambassadors onboard (depending on embarkation port). Most will have ukulele lessons. Currently, there is no activity at Hawaii Volcano National Park. Most happen within a crater or caldera. On rare occasion, there will be fissures that open up and fall into the ocean. Most of the times it happens on the southeastern end of the island. If that happens, it might be visible from ships that go to Kona (which most Princess ships don't do).
  4. In the dressing area by the closet and under the two night stands. Yes, quite annoying. I “left” the tapes on. Hope the next passenger appreciated my gesture. I also have a CPAP machine and a dear friend suggested I carry duct tape to “repair” hoses and the like. NEVER for cabin use! I also sometimes bring a shallow cardboard box (think 24 beverage can). I use it as a “drawer” above the closet shelf. I’m height challenged and am always afraid I can’t see what I place up there. Very easy to pack/leave in luggage.
  5. Whew! So glad you found her passport. Don't think a faxed birth certificate would have worked. Needs to be certified with a raised seal. (or...that is what I've been told).
  6. No on the Grand 2021 No on the Grand 2022 No on the Diamond 2023 No on the Emerald 2023

  8. Princess has made an attempt to change the name club class mini-suites to Reserve Collection. That's a start. But, unfortunately, many (including me) don't do change quickly. Mini-Suites AND Club Class mini-suites are just enhanced BALCONY staterooms. The Concierge Lounge is reserved for Suite Guests on Royal Class Ships. The Loyalty and Events Manager told me that Grand/Gem Class suites will soon have their own concierge (without the lounge) starting sometime in June.
  9. Great to hear. Did they charge her for shipping?
  10. Further UPDATE: Shoe bag has been found. At first, Tanya wanted a credit card to send it to us. Then she remembered that we will pick it up. Almost there. Now the fun begins. It needs to be picked up when the Emerald does a turn around (Cabo/Hawaii) on Thursday. At least there is only one ship in port.
  11. You are absolutely correct. If you miss the rush, you will just walk onboard the ship. If you get the MDR before 1:30, you will still be allowed in to enjoy a nice leisurely MRD embarkation lunch.
  12. I had the exact numbers but they have now been discarded. From memory: 500 Japanese Nationals. (this surprised me) 50% blue (new to Princess) and surprising...500 from Hawaii. About 500 Elite (Laundry returned within 2 days) Full ship (about 2800. Didn't feel crowded
  13. Crown has bigger balconies. It has an aft theater/Club Fusion, Explorer’s Lounge, Adagio, Wheelhouse, Skywalkers, and Library. Buffet is one of the smaller ones with no separate dessert counter. it does have Good Spirits at Sea and Vines. AND a full Promenade Deck with access to bow and stern.
  14. Oh, I forgot to mention that cabin mate was born in Canada, so does not have a certified US birth certificate. I’m sure she would have had to present many more documents. Easiest to have a passport. She travels internationally, so passport is not the issue. Forgetting to bring it was… But that is way off the center. Glad OP traveling partner is going to get a passport.
  15. Mute Point. I am just relaying my recent experience. She had a passport that she left at home. We retrieved it and boarded the ship. We were already "late" and I was not about to stand my ground for an issue that was resolved by her having her passport.
  16. He did not ask for a birth certificate. He specifically stated that without a passport, she wouldn't be boarding this ship.
  17. I can not answer for a closed loop cruise from FLL. I can only give you my experience last week. My cabin mate was also under the impression that her real ID would be good enough to do a closed loop for a Los Angeles Coastal that stopped in Ensenada. I made her go home and get her passport. She questioned the agent about needing a passport. He said (and I was there) that she would not have been allowed to board the ship without her passport because they were stopping in Mexico. I realize that FLL is a different state, itinerary is different, and agents are different. I reminded her to bring her passport the night before. Good luck with your friend's decision not to get a passport.
  18. Terminal Update for lost/left behind luggage: I am in contact with a representative for SMS (agents for Princess). She only has access the day before a ship arrives, to set up. Left behind luggage is held for 2 weeks before being sent to Santa Clarita. The Emerald will return on Thursday, so she will check on Wednesday. Very nice person. Feeling more positive about locating left behind bag. At least the Emerald will return to Berth 92.
  19. My understanding is that they can check in with you, but would have to wait in a general boarding area. They will be called right after Elite/Suite, Club Class, then Platinum boards.
  20. Welcome to Princess. As a suite passenger, your daughter will be charged an automatic crew incentive ($18/day). You can share your wifi with her (Passenger 1 and Passenger 2 will have 2 connections). You will also have a mini bar with 10 alcoholic drinks and 10 non (or trade in for 20 non). You will receive 3 bottles of water each night. You will get any specialty coffee with your suite breakfast each morning along with fresh squeezed orange juice. Now you can weigh the cost of a drink package for your daughter.
  21. I really need to look at a map. I will be staying in Montreal City for a couple of nights. Will need to either get back to the airport or train station. There are several train depots. Is there only one for VIA RAIL? I was told by agent that they don’t have baggage service, but someone would help me get my heavy suitcase on the train car.
  22. I am a fan of the Grand (Gem) class ships. Love the Full Promenade. Crooners was on the wrong side of the ship (lol). Nice library, Wheelhouse, Adagio, IC, etc. Shoppes were pitiful. Room service was prompt, but only ordered breakfast. Keep in mind, that if you decide to order hot breakfast items, they will come from the MDR kitchen, not room service. Hours will be limited. In my opinion, I thought the Emerald was in good shape. All of the ships I’ve been on since the restart have had outstanding service and crew.
  23. Yes, as long as you can handle all of your luggage by yourself, you can be the "first" to walk off.
  24. Cruise 2: Quebec to FLL Flight from San Diego to Montreal (non stop) 2 days in Montreal Now...trying to get from Montreal to Quebec Option 1: Train (VIA RAIL) No baggage service/luggage needs to be loaded into passenger compartment/4 hours Option 2: Flight from Montreal to Quebec Airport wait time/1 hour flight/ How to get from train station or airport to cruise terminal? How far? Option 3: Scratch Montreal and fly directly LAX to Quebec. There is no direct flight. Same issues as Cruise 1.... Will I have to do immigration at first point of entry? How much time do I need between flights? Will I need to pick up luggage?
