  1. But you are "missing" the whole idea. In First Class, you PAID for your ticket and your friends did not. For the Elite Lounge (PES) you didn't really use ca$h to get to that status (granted, you spent $$$ money to reach that level). The food is there. So why not. And they are my friends and I just want to let them see the perks for reaching Princess' loyalty level. AND I am doing Princess a favor. aka: Sheldon Cooper
  2. I was on the Diamond in March/April. I did not have a b2b. But, if you decide to get off the ship, you will need to go through customs. Waited for disembarkation time Medallion off the ship Picked up luggage Check out through Customs/Immigrations (pretty much just walked through). I would guess at that point, you are free to leave the port or wait in some in-transit seating area. As far as excursions, there were none except the bus to the airport for those flying out AFTER 6 pm. My flight was at 5. So spent 11 - 5 at the airport. Depending on which port you arrive at...Daikoku is far outside of Yokohama (20 - 25 minutes by Taxi). If you are at Osanbashi Pier, you are within walking distance of lots of things. Queen's Square is a huge 5 story shopping plaza. Yamashita Park is a lovely free garden. There's a Ramen Museum and Cup of Noodles Museum. Lots to do each turn around day. I would not try to get to Tokyo.
  3. I use a TA for all of my cruises. I am comfortable knowing that she is on top of whatever issues I may encounter. Case in point: Having trouble with EZ Air. NOT HER JOB...but she is actively monitoring my situation. I have stopped checking every minute. I have stopped calling. I do check in with Princess occasionally, but not to the extent I did at the beginning, knowing TA is watching out for me. She will text me or give me a call if something changes or if I have questions/concerns. I am still proactive, but not obsessed.
  4. So many "could have avoided" here. There's a direct flight from LAS to HNL LAS is a "smaller" airport You are supposed to check in 90 minutes to 2 hours before flight TSA precheck I realize I don't know the circumstances. But I am almost always an "early" person. We have all watched pier runners. They all have the same common thread. - the ship wouldn't leave without me - I don't have to run, they see me coming - It doesn't matter that 4000 passengers and the captain are waiting on me - most often Carnival/RCL passengers (this could be due to size of ship or destination or) Still waiting for video of Skagway passengers. sigh
  5. Wouldn't the Fall Repositioning cruises bring ships south from the Alaska season? In the Fall, you could possibly catch a ride on a ship that goes from Seattle to Vancouver (1 night) and then down to Los Angeles or San Francisco. Spring is when the ships head north from LA or San Francisco to Alaska. They would have to go to Vancouver and then do a one night cruise to start their season from Seattle. Repositioning cruises are lots of fun. Often time, they are not as full. No kids. and the fares are much less since it bookends the busy and popular Alaskan Summer. I am not familiar with cruise ships going up to Vancouver in the Fall. That would be a nice cruise time. Please tell me more.
  6. Princess is fined PVSA and they pass that on to the passengerS. Not Princess's fault that passenger missed the ship. No one is arrested. All fines and financial responsibilities fall on the passenger.
  7. You can request it before hand using the Medallion Class app. Ocean Ready My Preferences Accessibility In-Cabin Accessibility Amenities Check Hand-held Shower Head If it isn't in your cabin on embarkation day: Log on to Ship INTRAnet wifi. Go to Crew Chat Or go to the Customer Service Desk on Deck 6
  8. Let's start with the easy: The Sanctuary pool is an adult only "free" pool. So is the aft pool. All pools are open to the general public. I believe (I'm not a water person), the Crown actually has a "heated" but just tepid pool. As for the Crown herself. I would choose her over any Royal Class and soon to be released Sun Class ships because: Full walk around Promenade More public spaces: Club Fusion (aft), Explore's Lounge, Wheelhouse, Adagio, Skywalkers, Her balconies (not applicable in your case) are twice the size of any Royal Class ship, in most cases. At least 500 - 1000 passengers less than the "newer" ships. Granted, she does not have the more elaborate buffet or Gigi's. And her production shows are not as updated as her "younger" sister ships. The Royal Class ships have several more up-charge restaurants. Depends on where you are going and what you really want to do on the ship. You can request a hand held shower head or ask once on board on the first day. If there are any, they will do it as soon as possible. Interior/Oceanview/Balcony showers are all the same size across the fleet (with slight modifications for the newer ships).
  9. Often times robes are in the laundry on turn around day. Mention this to your room steward and (s)he will have them in your cabin by the next day.
  10. I didn't think passengers were fined for being late to the ship. They did not deploy the gangway. They sort of hopped on through the open door. Looked like there was a piece of board from the ship to the dock. Crew was tossing in bags and backpacks first, before gingerly reaching out by hand to get these passengers on board.
  11. Still waiting for the video. In the meantime, I was able to find one about 4 passengers (almost) being left at the pier on Kauai. NCL had already pulled away from the dock. Ship returned to dock to pick up passengers (amazing). NCL overnights in Kauai. Kauai is a short plane ride to Oahu. Kauai is the last port before returning to Oahu for disembarkation.
  12. It will somehow magically notify the staff that you are booked under Princess Plus $40 or $50. You will get drinks up to $15 but will not be able to get the desserts or gym classes. Believe me, you are not missing out on much. Not sure about getting your medallion shipped for free. I ordered mine before the up-charge.
  13. I do this voyage BECAUSE of the sea days. It is a nice way to get a taste of the islands, even in small plate bites. I have to admit, that I have the best of all worlds!
  14. I do apologize for my comments/posts. You did get an answer with the first reply. My intent was to add some humor to our day. We can get way too opinionated and boisterous on Cruise Critic.
  15. I forgot about the butter (or lack of) in the MDR. Who remembers that thread?
  16. I couldn’t find this. Will keep looking. This should be good.
  17. I agree with your statement. It’s just that Lahaina has always been a difficult tender port. Thankfully, most times, there is only one ship anchored. Plan on huge crowds trying to be the first off and long lines to return. Take lots of water. Dress for the heat. All I am saying is that you can spend about 3 hours in Lahaina to see everything, unless you are doing a tour or heading out of town. Be on Hawaii time and “hang loose”.
  18. If you live long enough, the old becomes new again. 1. Tipping Thread 2. Barrel Chair 3. Elite perks reduced 4. Coffee cards What's next?
  19. For the life of me, I can not understand why 3000 passengers want to get off in Lahaina. Same foods can be found on the other islands. There is a small Hilo Hatties. Getting back on the tenders is a nightmarish line. There are no whales in the summer and in the winter you can see them from the ship. The shops will all be waiting for you when you get off at 11 AM. But there is a huge banyan tree and a little bit of history.
  20. I placed a bid the day after final payment to go from an inside to a balcony. Bid the minimum and watched. Bid was rejected the night before the cruise. Ship was full. I was. happy with the interior room I booked so was not "too" disappointed". Glad I didn't bid on an Oceanview. A friend who booked very late was assigned a guarantee...that ended being one cabin away from the bow. That would have been horrible for me.
  21. Did this and by far, it is the best way to do Canada Place. Worth every penny for the room. If you become a member, the rate is slightly cheaper. ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ plus ⭐
  22. The most direct reason is that you are getting on the ship in Seattle and getting off the ship in San Francisco. Two US cities on the same ship. Therefore in violation of the PVSA. It doesn't matter what happens in between.
  23. This is one of the least hard to read cruise schedules for Canada Place. I would use this as a judge to how busy the terminal will be. 3 ships will be a nightmare. 1 ship would be idyllic. Size DOES matter. https://www.cruisetimetables.com/vancouver-canada-cruise-ship-schedule-2023.html
  24. My turn: 😊 $16/pp/day if you are in a inside, oceanview, or balcony categories. $17/pp/day if you are in a mini-suite or Reserve Collection. $18/pp/day if you are in a suite.
  25. Exactly what I was trying to write, but could not find the words to adequately explain how to do this. As always, you have the gift of words. Thank you. The only consideration is category that everyone is in. Will it satisfy the whole?
