  1. I have never seen excursions either. But then again, I have never really looked hard. Edited: I just checked my San Francisco overnight cruise and Monterey excursion is not listed. I did check independent tours and they leave at 8 AM (before ship docks). It is a full day guided and independent for $105. Princess could easily do a bus drop off and pick up for less.
  2. I am a former resident of Monterey too. I almost booked a cruise on the Discovery (after vowing never to do a Royal Class ship). I am disappointed that this port has been eliminated. BUT.. If Princess really wanted to salvage this itinerary, why couldn't they hire a bus and make it a "do on your own" at a REASONABLE fare? Imagine that. Someone else would do the driving so you could enjoy the view. On your own to do whatever you want to (I have a charter membership to the aquarium). Leave Monterey late so you could have a full day there. I have been on other excursions with Princess that take you all day. Or taken you to far away places. What a novel idea? I would pay up to $100 for a ride and back. Cheaper than a car rental and parking.
  3. Bottom line is what you are in the mood for. I have always hesitated to book Sabatini's. Reluctantly went. Was pleasantly surprised at how good the Sole was.
  4. Rhetorical Question. No need to answer or comment: "What Would You Do?" I know what I would do.
  5. This was not meant specifically for you. Glad you are doing your research. It is one of my pet peeves with Princess and therefore my soapbox stance. Mini-suites are not suites (not even close) FCD/FCC Medallion/Medallion Class App Medallion App works on INTRAnet (not wifi) And the list keeps going. They need to have some English teachers in a department all of their own. It is not difficult to be creative and come up with better descriptions. I shall step down now. Thank you for allowing me this space.
  6. Salty Grill (Lido Deck) is not to be confused with Wheelhouse Salty Dog Gastro Pub....When will Princess stop confusing passengers? It's not that there are limited words in the English language. Prices to Crown Grill and Sabatini's is suppose to be raised. Don't know when. Crown Grill is more expensive than Sabatini's. Moving forward. I have always enjoyed the Crown Grill over the other. I am not that into Italian. These are two very different restaurants. Absolutely love the Black and Blue Onion Soup and the Lamb Chops.
  7. Not at this time. You may purchase up to 3 days in advance of sailing. Only other options are the regular beverage packages such as soda and more.
  8. I'd rather visit Avalon than Santa Barbara or San Diego. Yes, they have to use local tenders, but I thought they were based out of Avalon. AND Avalon could use the tourists. Been there, done that....not that many more places to cruise to on the West Coast.
  9. I am really sad to hear of this vote. Monterey is such a lovely visit. You are correct, a long drive from San Francisco. Rental cars are expensive (not to mention overnight parking, if that is an option). I do not care for Santa Barbara. What happened to Santa Catalina stops?
  10. That is so unbelievable, yet doesn't surprise me. What are people thinking? Would they really do the same at home? I have never heard of the Princess Harmony Choir. Are these passengers? I'm sure it was a nice diversion for entertainment. "Somewhere Out There" is a beautiful song from "An American Tale". Such a lost musical piece. https://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=somewhere+out+there&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:23ca997e,vid:Smc5FHbZtG4
  11. When? Dont turn blue holding your breath.
  12. I do hope you observed the subtle differences between the Hawaiian Hula and the Samoan dances. Each Polynesian Island has their own version of the "hula"/native dance. Never once considered that by transiting the Pacific from East to West that you really "lost" a day. By plane, you get it back..hmmmmm. What a story to tell your grandkids. Looking at your globe, yes, the Hawaiian Islands are the remotest place on this Earth. Although American Samoa is 2500 miles away from Hawaii/land, you have land on the other side that is closer. How did they ever find the Hawaiian Islands?
  13. @Steelers36...I sure hope you are correct about the same prices as pre-pay or onboard the first day. I was just about to hit the pre-pay an let Princess have my money MONTHs in advance instead of waiting to buy it onboard with OBC. There was an advantage to buying it before the prices went up. I will wait and cross my fingers. It is a local run so won't be missing out much if Princess changes their policy, again.
  14. My apologies. I thought you were doing it sooner. Princess has been mixing up her fleet and it is confusing ME. She used to home port ships for a year at a time. I just can't keep track of her fleet. It used to be so simple. OR.....am I just aging?
  15. Lots of confusion here. Let's start with: The Crown is out of Los Angeles on it's way to Hawaii. INTRAnet WiFi AND the app have nothing to do with INTERnet/Medallion Net. You need to purchase Medallion Net to use iphone wifi calling, texting, and FaceTime, and the World Wide Internet. I have done the Hawaii itinerary many times are rarely had any issues with connection. Sometimes it is faster than others. Sometimes you may have trouble downloading a photo. But I have used all of these functions.
  16. Some of the "perks" you mentioned are Elite Status related. But the bonus loyalty OBC is part of the Captain Circle perk (now gone). And there are a few you left out. Not all elites purchase the beverage plan, so the mini-bar is still considered a good perk. I do agree with you, there is not a big difference in elite status.
  17. You could always pay them more money for a custom design. Or go to Customer Service and ask for a blue one.
  18. Yes, if you have purchased Medallion Net. No, if you are using the ship's INTRAnet. I have done all of the above on my iphone and ipad.
  19. Express Laundry: In by 9 AM returned by evening turn down (between 7 - 8). If not marked Express or isn't picked up until after 9 AM, it will usually be returned by the next day. IF....your laundry bag is placed in the wrong bin by your steward (by accident), Laundry doesn't check to see if it was marked Express or regular, and will treat it as regular. Express Laundry is not available on turn around day.
  20. I look for the best in people. Some have integrity and I would like to believe that those who apply for shareholder credit will actually still have possession of it when they cruise. Then there are the others that not only sell their shares BUT posts it on a public website flaunting how they cheated the system. That's says volumes about themselves. You do need to send in a shareholder document for each cruise. One document can be used for multiple requests, at the same time. Don't know about 2024, but I was able to do it for late 2023. I wanted to purchase an excursion. It was posted within a few days and I was able to secure my ticket.
  21. Another inconsistency. When purchasing internet at the beginning of post covid travel, I had to do it by calling Princess and adding it to my portfolio. It WAS....supposed to be returned as refundable OBC. Much to my surprise, it was listed as non-refundable on my folio. There was a lot of back and forth and no one on the ship really knew what the correct answer was. Fortunately, I was able to spend all of my OBC. Others on different ship (I was on the Grand) were reporting that it was showing up as refundable OBC. Was I surprised? Not a bit. Now you should be able to purchase internet directly via the app for 50% off AND that would not involve refundable/non-refundable OBC. Several have mentioned that they are still unable to do this. You used to be able to do it on your personalizer. I don't see it there anymore. From my understanding, the "new" price is now $15 a day for one device and $40 a day for 4 devices. It used to be a bargain at $10 a day and $20.....with 50% off. I don't know if you can purchase it onboard the first day for $15 AND at half price, giving you the opportunity to use up OBC.
  22. I have an "extra" 100 shares floating around....just in case this similar scenario popped up. I would then gift the extra 100 shares to the other cabin passenger. Bought the extra shares when it was down. Now to convince my kids they need to cruise.
  23. hi L. I thought there was suppose to be a tray of goodies at the Good Spirits bar in the morning? I’m going to miss easy access to my Peanut Butter cookies. Thanks for your personal view of Kai, the fillet, and the lamb chops.
