  1. And the walkway in front of those cabins are not accessible at night. So you have a lot of privacy.
  2. These are great cabins if you can tolerate being in the forward part of a ship. At night, they rope off the stairs and the area is all yours (and dark). Very little traffic during the day. I have always wanted to book one of these cabins....but my body isn't that sea worthy. Your cabin is on Emerald Deck, One above public/Promenade Deck. You can not access the deck from your cabin (I would not recommend crawling over the railing).
  3. Princess… if not broke….do not fix! Grand Princess does not have auto night lights. Not installed on most recent April dry dock.
  4. You missed the point, but you wouldn't understand the ramifications of nut contamination.
  5. I had Princess insurance for three cruises that I had to cancel. Two went without a hitch. The third one was post covid and took "forever" to finalize (satisfied with the results). The one time I did not have insurance was for a "short" cruise that I had wished I had insurance (very long story). I have good personal health insurance and buy Princess insurance because of my age and convenience. I am not getting any younger and it's "too" much work to research other plans. Call it lazy or indifference = doesn't matter.
  6. I see you are relatively new to Cruise Critic. Welcome, even if you are a seasoned traveler. It would be helpful to know if you are: *. Flying into Long Beach Airport (LGB doesn't have any direct flights from Victoria/Vancouver). Or are you flying into LAX (Los Angeles)? *. Wanting to stay near the Long Beach airport or near San Pedro Pier. Whichever you are choosing to do, you will need to find transportation from LGB or LAX to the hotel. Getting a shared ride from LAX requires you to haul your luggage (on a bus/by foot) to a designated pick up lot outside of the arriving terminals.
  7. I submitted a dietary request last night and received confirmation of receipt today. This is why they keep the peanut butter cookies in the back of the IC. I do hope that your niece will carr her epi pen and have a talk with both the head waiter and manager at the Horizon Court.
  8. I agree that Princess needs to clean up their wordage. I read the requirements for an enhanced voyage (specific to mine) AND did a live chat. This was "confirmed", but I don't trust so will be doing a eMed test: 1. PCR from a medical facility / 3 days before 2. Rapid Antigen observed by a medical person / 3 days OR 3. Self administered/self attested over the counter/free test with photo of negative test, date, passport. It's as clear as mud.
  9. Just got off the phone with a very nice gentleman at Abbott. Out of luck. One of my tests expired in November, extended to February, but, at this time, will not be valid after February. I could always check back in a few weeks. Not holding my breath. The links @Yehootuprovided for searching didn't help. 195-000 or 195-200 (multiple sets). Mine was 195-100 (sold individually). I do have 3 more that should get me through my next cruise. This outdated one was free, anyway. https://www.fda.gov/medical-devices/coronavirus-covid-19-and-medical-devices/home-otc-covid-19-diagnostic-tests#list
  10. Are you asking as a passenger who has never cruised (even inquired) about a Princess Cruise or have you cruised before on Princess? Princess Passenger has to go through their Captain Circle account to refer a friend. Friend has to accept referral. Friend has to cruise (sometimes) before you can get the $25. Friend will get it on first cruise.
  11. Status in Captain Circle will not get you an barrel chair. I have requested an additional desk chair for an inside cabin.
  12. @YehootuCare to "share" the Binax site that extends the tests? I have one that will expire in February and would be nice if I could get one more month out of it. My one test (I have 3 others that expire in May) that has already been extended once. FDA says they are working constantly at renewing/extended first batch of tests. I wrote to Binax. They did not offer me any free tests....Lucky you.
  13. I have used the BinaxNow AG home proctored test while at a hotel before a cruise. Very easy to use. First batch of 3 were "free" through insurance. Don't know why they only rebated a small portion on my second batch. No matter, very handy and you are paying for the re-assurance. I have one box that is about to expire. Can't find anywhere regarding an extension on the extension. Purchased from Optum. I am so confused by current enhanced rules and covid tests. But I will comment on the other thread. What is the purpose of "self-attested"? Not taking any chances with $$ invested in cruise. Will use BinaxNow, since I have them.
  14. I think it is GRRReat that someone has started a thread (thank you OP @Swimster32). The world is watching all of you as you take the Diamond Princess back to her home. I am waiting to hear all of the ins and outs of cruising in Japan. You guys make better ambassadors than Princess. Princess' website is not crystal clear. I am hoping this thread will continue with expert experiences.
  15. I bring VERY large binder clips to add weight to the shower curtain. It will also keep the curtain inside the shower. For those having problems with a tub, I suggest that you request a shower stool. It may make it easier to get in and out of the tub. You can find that on the medallion app under My Preferences Accessibility Shower Stool
  16. I hope you kept a copy of the email they sent you. And you have a good TA that will go to bat for you.
  17. I'm sorry your cruise to Hawaii was not up to your expectations. Another thread had just the opposite reviews. I understand your concerns regarding the one chair in a balcony. That has been mentioned by many. If you had scanned the floor plans, you would have seen that there are no sofa's in anything less than minis. That is one up for HAL...they have sofas in most categories. As others have said, you are lucky that you had a chance to cruise with Princess to know that this is not for you. You won't be happy in a Royal Class ship either. The balconies are horrible and there is no wrap around Promenade Deck. Tendering in Lahaina has always been awful. Most every passenger wants off. That's 2000 to 4000 passengers trying to ride on a small shuttle. I've been in line for more than an hour to return. Not fun. It will be worse with a newer (Royal Princess) ship. Mother nature was on huge display this past weekend. We are having super (north facing beaches) swells. Good for surfing, but doesn't make for the best cruise experience. Bottom line, I hope you had a really good time while in the islands.
  18. I believe (never cruised with the Royal Class ships), that the only difference is the loss of the Concierge Lounge for suite passengers. You will still the suite breakfast (location may be different). You will have the mini-bar. You will have Express Laundry. You will have preferred embarkation/tendering. You will have Club Class Dining You will have 2 bottles of water daily. Your cabin number will show up on all phone calls to Room Service/Customer Service. You will have complimentary first night specialty dining.
  19. I once sent out laundry on the night before in-transit day (b2b) and wondered why I did not get it back in a timely manner. My room steward apologized and said that passenger laundry is not done on turn around days. Made a lot of sense to me.
  20. I am a collector. I have quite a collection of magnets. Found a series of 4 hooks on a bar. A cat who’s tail bends to make a hook. And just in case your magnets connect….here’s how to separate them. https://youtu.be/ynhSd2Bskzc
  21. If you are not elite (free), use the laundry room. I know, not the funnest thing to do on embarkation day.
  22. You can “occasionally” hear noises from the art gallery if in an inside. Not for ocean view. Never thought it intrusive. Removing art work from the walls for auction. Never really early.
  23. Be sure to order one that has multiple outlets (not just a plain adapter). All Apple products and most Medical equipment are dual voltage.
  24. One step at a time. Let "them" have Churchill's. Give me a smoke free casino. Lose the battle, but win the war.
  25. I cruise pre-covid when no smoking on formal nights. It was pleasant. I cruised post covid with total no smoking ban. It was pleasant. I cruised post covid with smoking allowed EVERY DAY. Not pleasant. I would be ecstatic if the casino was no smoking at all, but would even accept no smoking on formal nights. How did Princess go from no smoking to all smoking?
