  1. Yes, the wardrobe (closet) on the Grand is a bit smaller. But I have never had an issue. You may ask your steward for as many hangers as you need. It is adequate for 2 passengers. More? maybe a little cramped.
  2. Glad I ran across this thread. Yes, Princess is making it even more confusing. I posted this on a Japan cruise Roll Call: I am hoping that all of you on this earlier voyage will have information regarding Covid Testing. Princess is clear as mud. * Will Japan require negative to enter country? PCR/rapid proctored antigen? * Will Diamond require PCR or proctored antigen test? Site says 3 day PCR. Then another place says 2 days. It doesn't help we lose a day in travel and another for crossing the International Date Line (well/one and the same). I have a bunch of Binax Now proctored home tests. I just need to know if I need one to get into Japan and one to get on a ship. And is it 2 or 3 days. AND I do realize that any thing can change minute by minute.
  3. The only ship that had the "shopping handle carts" removed was the Grand Princess. Sister ships: Crown, Emerald, Ruby, Caribbean, still has Skywalkers. The Royal class ships do not have this feature. Thank you for taking the time to review the Caribbean Princess and your itinerary with a fresh perspective.
  4. I saw the same message, but could assess my cruises (even though it said I was not signed in). Go figure.
  5. OP mentioned TV and sleeping. Royal Class ship curtain would not mute sound either. More for privacy/light/moment. "My" shower curtain is made of material (not plastic/see through).
  6. There are no curtains on the Caribbean Princess that will divide the sofa from the bed. Bring your own (shower curtain plus magnetic hooks). Although this will darken the bedroom some.
  7. Princess will get you everytime....after final payment. Sorry to hear that.
  8. Disclaimer (again): Mini - suites......Are not full suites. They are enhanced balcony. Princess needs to change this category.
  9. You definitely have a hanging mystery. So...IF...third person is free (current booking), and single supplement is $700, how much would passenger 4 have to pay? Passenger 4 plus $700 divide by 2.....seems to be the best outcome. Book the single. Move passenger 3 over once you sail.
  10. In my not so long ago younger days, we three ladies went on a road trip. We devised a creative way so that one did not have to sleep in a chair all night. We all slept the width of the bed (or whichever is longer). The two ends were under the covers. The third was in the middle on top of the covers (with a blanket. A short of makeshift cradle). Each night, we rotated who got to sleep in the "middle". I did find my small sofa in my window suite to be very comfortable to sleep on. IF....I had to, I would be able to sleep on it without opening it up. But, I'm short. This one seems a little small. Be sure to do a reconnaissance of bathrooms above and below cabin. You never mentioned which deck you were on.
  11. A couple of more "What Ifs" Has the price of the third ticket gone up or down? Is there a comparable cabin? Do you have insurance (may not apply)? See if you can get a single/no supplement cabin for 4th and move third in after the fact. I would call Princess and see if they would do a courtesy move over. The least they can say is no. The best of both worlds would be for them to sell you another berth.
  12. Disclaimer: I was in Canada (BC). I did a "free" tour that accepted "tips" at the end as payment. We were offered the following: Canada $ US $ Credit Card But Vancouver is a border city and the US $ is worth more to the Canadians than their dollar is. I do try to use local currency. Getting it is a different story. What to do with the leftover is also a problem. If the ship is going to continue visiting the same countries after you get off, then the crew would appreciate your local currency when you leave it behind. I agree: Tipping in US is better than not tipping at all. And thanks for the lesson on Japanese culture.
  13. The Grand went into dry dock in the spring (April?) of 2022. I have sailed on her 5 times since the restart. I was saddened when Princess moved the Golden, then the Pacific Princess in a move toward bigger (not always better) ships. The Grand Princess has her charms. She was a rust bucket pre-pandemic. They cleaned her up nicely with no more water buckets to catch her drips. Most of the recent dry dock was cosmetic. New carpets, improved sofas in cabins and other public areas. My most recent voyage was a back to back for 25 days. I found enough food choices that helped me gain weight. The crew on this ship is phenomenal. If you read any of the reviews of her voyages, everyone rates the crew extremely high. I don't think the Royal gets that kind of praise. As for dining options, I think they are pretty close to running neck and neck. Both have Alfredo's although the menu is a little more complex on the Royal. All other venues are the same. Royal has Princess Live, Grand has Explorer's Lounge. Royal has Skywalkers. Grand has One5 lounge. But you have to decide for yourself, what kind of an experience you would like to have. You can always catch a ride on the Royal, but, I am fearful that the Grand's days are numbered. The Grand has her loyalists. Please let us know what your final decision was and why. I'm interested.
  14. Grand Princess Cheerleader here.... If you want ballroom dancing, you may find it more available on the Grand Princess. The Royal will have it in the Piazza on uneven tiled floor. On the Grand, there might be music in the Wheelhouse, the Explorer's Lounge, and/or Club Fusion, as well as in the Piazza. They've had canned music for afternoon dancing, but I have requested better music with the Entertainment Director (who was happy to comply). You might be able to convince the DJ to play music in One5 Lounge late in the evenings. The. Grand has a full Promenade Deck for your pleasure. The Grand has a covered pool area. I am not a buffet person but have heard that the Royal Class ships have a better buffet. Don't forget the International Cafe for additional snacks. The Royal will have better production shows (boo to Princess for not changing out the Grand shows). But with that comes the crowds and inability to find seats in the theater with 1000 extra bodies. Lots of sea days with really no where for the Royal Class passengers to lounge. WIll you have a balcony? Grand balconies are bigger and better.
  15. and the Crown has an IC feet away from your cabin!
  16. Always grateful when someone is able to link the difference between PVSA and the Jones Act (for Cargo). When a ship misses a port (Ensenada) due to weather or sea conditions, CBP usually comes out to the ship to sign a waiver to avoid the fine. "My" Captain tried to dock three times in Ensenada before coming over the PA to explain why we weren't dock yet and that we had circled the "Island" 3 times. Trust @chengkp75. He is the guru of all things navigational. Your travel agent "should" have known better. It would have been caught sooner or later. You are fortunate to have it happen before fines were levied. And no, you would not have been "pulled of the" ship, but yes, the fines would have been transferred to you. This is NOT a huge miss by Princess. This is the fault of your Travel Agent for not advising you better.
  17. Have you watched videos of your cabin? 3 European outlet. 2 American (I think). 2 USB plugs on lamps. 1 desk chair. 2 balcony chairs. 2 bed tables with drawers. 4 shelves in the safe area. 3 shelves in the bathroom. I hope you got a great deal on Passengers 3 and 4. https://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=premium+deluxe+balcony+Discovery+Princess+video&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:216731f5,vid:2_7W2zjCBtY And not professional / new passenger video. (There were a couple of "errors".)
  18. Pretty good deductive reasoning skills, but I hope you are wrong. Can you hold your breath long enough to pass their cabin? Is their balcony forward of aft of you? Wear your mask when you go out on your balcony. Enjoy your ride home. The report is that the Atmospheric River is done with for now. West Coast should see pleasant and sunny weather tis week.
  19. Bring along a plug adapter with two outlets (your machine should be dual voltage). There should be an outlet near the bed.
  20. I had a friend who was able to do an L shape bed arrangement in an inside cabin. Not sure it would be possible and STILL have the bunk beds be functional. Not sure what can be done in a Premium Deluxe Balcony room. Are you driving to the port or flying in with limited luggage allotment? I have taken "big box store" boxes inside my luggage and used them as "drawers" for the shelves above the closet and under the sink. There will probably no more than 3 shelves in the bathroom and very limited counter space. I have taken a cloth shower curtain and magnetic hooks to create a "private dressing area". I have taken large binder clips to weigh down the shower curtain so that water does not seep out of the shower. It would help to mention your cabin number. Best you find the nearest public bathrooms...you will need them with 4 adult females. IKEA has some great foldable storage boxes. You will be lucky if each lady has one shelf to herself. Packing cubes will be a must have.
  21. You will love the location of the Plaza Deck cabins. They are so convenient to the Piazza public spaces. Only if they had an International Cafe!
  22. Forward Deck 5 is jarring when the anchor deploys. At least there is only one tender port (for Lahaina).
  23. I gave up using Safari. I was in Chrome. I checked back in and had no problems. User error? Ha Ha I think I will blame it on the rain instead.
