  1. Princess will make accommodations for your wife's mobility issue. You may request a wheelchair when you arrive. Keep in mind that there may be others waiting for the same assistance. This was my experience at San Pedro (LA). I was traveling with an older person who found it hard to stand, wait, walk. When we entered the building, I inquired about a wheel chair for her. We were told to wait in some chairs for a wheel chair to become available. We arrived around 11:30 AM. Thee were already a list of about 5 passengers in front of us. 4 wheel chairs/attendants appeared. They were dismissed for lunch. Even the port crew were surprised. We were told it would be another hour before one would become available. We decided to take the elevator upstairs and begin the check in process (Green/Elite can't remember if the "new" policy was in place). I asked the check in person if she could find us a wheel chair. Miraculously, she found us one to take us through security (port team). Then we were asked to wait in a holding area for Princess Crew to push others on board. I spoke to some passengers who were waiting for an hour. Boarding had already begun. I asked my friend if she thought she could walk on to the ship if we took it slowly? Even with my Elite status, we would still have had to wait our turn in the "gray" area. I understood that...if we wanted assistance, we would have to be patient. Boarding is by loyalty status. It is not like the airport where those who need assistance board first. Once boarding begins, everyone is able to walk on to the ship. As others have mentioned, your wait time will be much less if you arrive later in the day or do not need assistance.
  2. If you have $1250 in OBC, that will buy you both 10 days of PLUS with $50 left over. If you buy it on board, you won't have to pay the 8% for insurance as you would if you ordered it with your cruise fare. I find it very difficult to find anything worthwhile to purchase while on the ship.

  4. I am just thinking out loud. Would the surcharge be for an extra seat? Or would it be for fuel and other expenses. Example, if they place you in the front seat next to the pilot, they wouldn't necessarily "lose" a revenue seat.
  5. I book through a TA. On my page, it says to contact my TA. Transfers Princess offers convenient transportation to and from the ship – usually in the form of a motorcoach or van. This service can be arranged through your Travel Agent.

  7. At San Pedro, check in is BEFORE security in Terminal 93. Drop of luggage with porters Enter building Ride escalator up to second floor Check in Security Waiting room (General boarding area) Walk on gangway with multiple switch backs (depending on tide)
  8. 1. You will need to call Princess to add the transfers since you booked directly with Princess. Surprised it was not automatically added at booking. They are not listed under excursions. Did you check your booking document? 2. Transfers from LHR are only available day of cruise. If you are coming in a day or two earlier (highly recommended), you will either need to make your own arrangements or stay overnight near the airport or Victoria Station. Transfers are automatic when booking a pre-cruise hotel through Princess.
  9. @Mark_K Welcome to Princess. Posters would be able to give you a little more specific information if you state your embarkation port. In general, there are two steps in getting on the ship. Step one: depending on port, most have you check in then go through security. It doesn't matter which comes first. This is where being in the Blue Lane (no medallion) or Green Lane (with medallion) will matter, only slightly. For instance, if you are doing a US based port, there will probably be equal amounts of blue/green passengers. The time difference will probably be very little. If you are doing Japan or Southampton, very few passengers will have a medallion since they are only sent to Canada and US residents. Once you are checked in and through security, you will be sent to a seating area (if boarding has not begun). Suite and Elite passengers usually share the same lounge/space. Platinum get their own area. Not sure where Reserve Class is sent (someone else will chime in and correct me, but I think they are with Suite/Elites). Groups are called: In transit passengers Suite/Elite/Reserve Class? Platinum and then general boarding. ** Passengers who need assistance will be dispersed among various groups. There are only so many "pushers". Some may have to wait a long time to get on. "Pushers" are port personnel until after security/when they drop you off in another designated area. At that point, crew from the ship will take over getting you on the ship. If these areas have been cleared out and passengers arrive after that, they are checked in/security/walk on board.

  11. And this is why I don't tamper with my flights. I always call EZ Air because I seem to miss or mistakenly do something that I know WILL mess up my booking. Sorry for the misinformation. Glad @Paula_MacFan provided you with an image.
  12. As far as I know, it is nothing that you did. There are no buttons to "push". You have to call them to ticket your air. Don't bother with Princess 800. Deal directly with EZ Air. Has your credit card been charged? Payment isn't charged separately than cruise fare payment. When was your final payment due? It should include EZ Air and cruise fare. Regardless, unless you purchased a restricted air fare, you have until 45 days out to make changes WITHOUT penalty. Making any changes may increase your fare the closer you get to D-Day. If you are willing to pay the fare increase, there should not be any penalties to make changes. Only pay the fare difference. BTW...you have a very healthy attitude. Enjoy your Alaskan adventure.

  14. Reserve MDR: It's called the Coral Dining Room (Starboard side/Fiesta Deck 6). Suite Breakfast: Sabatinis (Deck 7). Or off the menu. If it is on the ship, Assistant Manager will try to provide you with your request. A friend of mine detailed a very specific breakfast for his wife. Sure enough...close, I've tried asking for crab/avocado omelette...sometimes, but couldn't convince the Assistant Manager for lobster...or even lobster tortelli (lol) as they were making them. There is no concierge's lounge...but their is a designated concierge on the Caribbean Princess. You have to track him/her down through Customer Service. They may be able to help you with some of your requests. You will have a Meet and Greet cocktail hour with the officers. All of the above is accurate as of October 2023. There is access to the Thermal Spa. In my opinion, it is very lacking in offerings.
  15. You can bring flowers on board in LA and Hawaii. There are a few restricted leis that you will not be able to bring on board (at least you can't fly out with them). The are the Jade, Moana Loa/fancy orchid lei, berries, live kukui nuts. You can't bring any plants with soil into the islands. Anthuriums can be purchased at the Hilo Farmers Market and they will last you all the way back to LA. If you want a fragrant lei: ginger, pikake, pua kenakena are wonderful.   17. Personal EZ Air flexible ticket experience: I am still 6 months or more from cruise. I booked an EZ Air flight for LHR when I finalized my plans for a cruise. I was able to choose my seats on Virgin Atlantic/Delta without being ticketed. Could have been due to flying Business Class (unknown factor). I think the bigger issue is that you wanted to change your flight to a day earlier. There are "probably" no more flights with your current fare. What you were quoted was a fare that has increased since you initially booked. Fares fluctuate daily. I know that my flight is now $2000 more and has not gone down at all. As for cancellation policy. You have up to 45 days from flight to cancel a flexible air reservation without any penalties. Credit will be returned to your form of payment. I would call EZ Air (not Princess) to get this straightened out. 800-545-0008. I have used EZ Air a few times. I have modified reservations, cancelled reservations, and had EZ AIr resolve AIRLINE flight cancellations. In the end, all of my issues have been resolved satisfactorily, although not with some stress involved. Good Luck and welcome to Cruise Critic. Hope you found the other posts helpful.
  18. Your steward should bring in glasses of champagne. This has also been a hit and miss. Sometimes (s)he remembers, other times, I just don't care to remind them. Canapés will automatically appear on embarkation. I've been avoiding them. Then you could order them nightly. You may attend the nightly Suite/Elite/Platinum cocktail hour. Usually held in Skywalkers. I was recently told that if there are too many, it is moved to the aft venue (Club Fusion?). I had a lovely bouquet of flowers on the Caribbean in July. And none on the same ship/same suite in October. Consistency is not one of Princess' strong suits.

  21. Function is dependent on carrier. I can’t lift heavier packed full bags of grocery anymore. Prefer many smaller to one larger bag.

  23. I have been caught many times for not reading the fine print. That's why I depend on my TA to keep me on the straight and narrow. Also, having FCDs (purchased on previous cruises for $100) is the optimum way to go. My TA will never allow me to book a non-refundable deposit. Right after covid, it was difficult to book suites since all FCDs had expired. I've been lucky to not have had to pay large deposits for suites.
  24. @Teechur. My memory is fuzzy, but I am trying to recall my initial Delta flight (that I cancelled) to Montreal. When I inquired with Delta about free one check, I was told that as long as I purchased EZ Air AND had my credit card at the ticket counter, they would have allowed me free luggage. I never got to test that policy since that is the flight that I cancelled. Good luck with the lounge. That seems to be a given if you have a United flight/ticket and are usually admitted. That would be a nice way to pass the time.
  25. Even after your fare is ticketed AND paid for, you can still make changes up to 45 days out. That's the beauty of EZ Air. I even cancelled the booking prior to 45 days and got a refund via cc. If you make changes between 90 and 45 days, you will receive a refund.
