  1. The only way I could cancel my incorrect medallion order (they charged me $10 when it should have been free shipping) was to call Princess 800- And even by working with them, I had to call twice and cancel the order 3 times. It wasn't until the second call did the agent really know what he was doing. He insisted that I "trust" him. HE cancelled all orders, place the order under Passenger 2, and it is done (crossing my fingers). I have the updated app. No where was there a cancellation button my my iphone app. YET...my friend on a different cruise and Android, had a button....
  2. Hawaiian Cultural Ambassadors. Yes, Tiki Dave/Leialoha and Cruise Director David Cole were the creators of this program. It has since expanded and I believe there are a total of 3 couples that host/hostess this program. I have only experienced 2 of the 3 couples and can speak with some confidence who does what. Each do hula lessons and ukulele lessons. All do entertainment sets in the Piazza and other venues. There is always an "Aloha 'Oe" showcase at the end of the cruise. Tiki Dave and Leialoha do an outstanding job on port talks. They include places to see and eat. There will also be a naturalist on board for lectures. You missed the history lesson presentations that Dave Cole gave on the Hawaiian Monarchy. It was outstanding! The Cruise Director staff will do mini-workshops on sea days. Leialoha will have her own little Kraft Korner. Hopefully TikiDave will have a night in the Princess Theater (yes, he is THAT good). ELUA (meaning the number 2) were/are on the Crown Princess out of San Francisco this season. I believe they are scheduled until April when the Crown will reposition to Alaska for a whole other set or enrichment activities with someone else. They "normally" are assigned cruises out of Los Angeles.
  3. If you are going to Leonard's Malasadas (Portuguese doughnuts plain or filled) need to be eaten HOT. Just across the street is Ululanis Shave Ice (same as the one that was in Lahaina. https://www.ululanishawaiianshaveice.com But I would go down a couple of blocks more to Waiola Shave Ice. Much better "ICE". https://www.waiolashaveice.co Hawaii also has good Chocolate tours as well as Vanilla Farms. Kona Coffee is specific to Kona, but all the other islands have their own beans (Kauai Plantation). There's even a Rum factory on Kauai. Lion's Coffee offers factory tours on Oahu. And then there is Kamaka Ukulele Tour: http://www.kamakahawaii.com I am leaving out the usual suspects since I am sure someone else will chime in for the other must sees.
  4. You can have SPAM at home (not just while in the islands). But....But...you don't know what yo are missing out on. Best SPAM musubi while in the islands can be found at 7 - Eleven. I "asked" the experts since I won't spend the money to buy it when I can make it. It really is on the must try list. While on foods...If you have a car: Hilo: Two Ladies Kitchen https://www.facebook.com/twoladieskitchenorginal/ Nawiliwili/Lihue: Hamura's Saimin for Lilikoi Chiffon Pie https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g60623-d493044-Reviews-Hamura_Saimin_Stand-Lihue_Kauai_Hawaii.html Kona: Manago Hotel Best pork chops in the islands. https://www.managohotel.com/restaurant/ Oahu: Helena's for Hawaiian Food. https://www.helenashawaiianfood.com/index.html Side Street Inn Kapahulu https://sidestreetinn.com/about-us/
  5. There are many “lives” from Hawaii. Funny, I just drove into town today, and there sat the Crown Princess in Honolulu Harbor. It will be a little early for whale watching. Usually best in January or February. Food? So many different cultures. Stay away from the chains and explore the unusual. Skip the luau and eat at Helena’s in Honolulu. And research, research, research. Lots of free or low cost activities. What are your interests: history? cultural? outdoors? strenuous? Highly recommend renting a car. Today, it only took me 35 minutes to drive 10 miles. Traffic can be ridiculous.
  6. I always “thought” that names/passengers could be changed/replace up until sailing. I could be wrong. Wouldn’t be the first time.
  7. I’m not clear by your statement “They plan to pay his gratuities in cash.” Are they planning to remove the auto crew appreciation? Are they Also doing this to both of their accounts? I support @NavyVeteran suggestion. I have always wondered why there isn’t a child’s fare.
  8. I prefer the Grand since she is a smaller ship (less 400 passengers), especially when it comes to tendering in Kona (or previously Lahaina). I do like the second aft stage over Club Fusion for additional entertainment. I don't think the Ruby has Alfredos. It DOES matter who you have as your Hawaiian Cultural Ambassadors, but not sure anyone's schedule is out yet. You will only see the Golden Gate Bridge as you depart unless you are up very early returning. Both airports are far from the port. There is more to do in San Francisco before embarkation.
  9. You could ask your steward to place bedding down on the unopened sofa. Please do report back what you actually ended up doing.
  10. Aft: closer to aft dining room and maybe smoking area (not sure where it is on the Royal Class ships). Easier access to Buffet. Might have less elevator traffic. Do all 4 elevators go down to Ketchikan Dining Room? Much farther walk if she wants to do anything in the Piazza. Could you walk the stairs and meet her on destination floor? Dolphin is closer to the action.
  11. How do you do this? How much would it cost with the loyalty discount? Always wondered if that was possible. Won't need it ... this time. Good to know information. Thanks
  12. I've been told (not experienced) that your best bet would be Seattle since it is an easy destination for most new passengers. LA and SF to Alaska/Mexico/California Coastal seems to be cherished by many long time passengers due to the sea days and ease of getting to the ports. I'm still waiting my turn. Seems as though...as my number of days goes up, I get further and further away. A currently booked cruise might give me a decent shot. ONLY 2 pages on the Roll Call, ship seems empty, and lots of new Cruise Critic posters (less than 100 posts) on Roll Call. Crossing my fingers.
  13. Why not just sleep on the unopened sofa? Looks about the same width as the space between the sofa and desk.
  14. The last cruise I was on (Caribbean Princess/Fall), there was a very active group that met for lunch on sea days/teas and in Vines (listed in Patter). Unfortunately, Vines was way too loud for enjoyment. Could barely carry on a conversation. These were organized by someone on the Roll Call. Best to check in on yours. I have also been on a cruise where there was nothing. Good luck. Most everyone on a cruise are friendly and open to conversations unless buried in a good book.
  15. Since Princess went to Starlink, there is no more internet/wifi by the minute. You will need to purchase: Plus or Premier Internet package for the entire cruise Or pay by the day at full price plus a little more than daily wifi package. (not sure if platinum/elite discount applies for by the day) How port intensive is your cruise? Can you "live" without connecting for a day or two? If you have an iPhone, iMessaging sometimes works (hit and miss) for texting WhatApp also works for texting
  16. You will also receive 2 bottles of water daily. Some stewards start delivery first night. Others wait until second day since there is water in the min-bar. You can always ask for the first two bottles. No sense "wasting" the 2 waters in the mini-bar (for trade).
  17. Passenger 1 and 2 "may" share the OBC IF....the folio is attached to one (1/same) credit card. If there are separate folios, then OBC is only on passenger with FCD.
  18. Correct and they “shouldn’t” fall out. Mine haven’t yet. Especially since the one I use for my watch band actually holds the medallion in place.
  19. corrections: Grand Window Suite (S7) Sky (S111) S5 Although it was an upgraded trade, in my mind, it was not equivalent.
  20. This is even more confusing than Reserve Mini-Suite (aka Club Class mini) on previous ships. The dining room (on non sun class ships) would have a sign outside saying "Reserve" so new passengers just just thought it meant those with "reservations". Who thinks these things up??? (aka Sheldon Cooper). But then again, when I was moved from my Window Suite (S7) on the Grand to a S7 (S111/I think) on the Sky.....it was too high, way forward, far away from the concierge's lounge, and "looked like a mini-suite layout" with a suite bathroom. I cancelled my booking. Whoever starts a live, please start a new thread. I am sure there will tons of questions. BTW...I was just watching a YouTube video about the Class system on Cunard Queen ships. Is this where Princess is headed? @CatMom72 Love your descriptions. Thank you
  21. I found this preview. S9 is a full suite, but about the size of a mini-suite with just a walk in shower (no tub). Still not enough to get me on a Sun Class ship. I am sure those that book her will very much enjoy their cruises.
  22. Insurance reimbursed with with a check. Actually, Medicare denied, my secondary paid medical visit with a check, and AON picked up the $28 medical history cost. Princess/AON (can't remember which one) paid me with a check for days in Isolation
  23. The medallions are slightly smaller than air tag. (medallions will fit in air tag/air tags will not fit in Princess holders). Yes, you can use an air tag holder for medallions.
  24. Previously, the lowest full suite was an S7. Is an S9 a full suite? A signature suite (aka reserve mini)? Just curious. Not intending to book a cruise on the Sun.
  25. Iceland webpage says that they don't have mosquitos...but have no-see-ums. https://english.hi.is/news/learning_more_about_no_see_ums_and_fruit_flies
