  1. One thing to keep in mind with Virgin is that they price their drinks lower than most cruiselines and quite often you can find deals with them that include some onboard money for drinks. I would do a little research on Virgin for what you are looking for.
  2. If it's a cruise without your children, are you wanting a cruiseline that won't have a lot of children on it? If so, Celebrity will be great. However, it does not have near the nightlife of Carnival. The Edge class may have more activity and the short cruises do tend to attract more of the weekend party crowd but not sure you'll be able to stay in a club dancing until 3:00 am or anything like that.
  3. We've always booked the World Wine Tour when we're onboard. I think we've done it 3 or 4 times and really enjoy it. It has always been held on a sea day around the 2:00 pm time (give or take). We've done it on Equinox, Millenium, and Summit. It's only been held one time per sailing (Edge class ships may be different). But I've never seen it listed in the app prior to the cruise. They will let you know when it is being held.
  4. Regarding the beverage package, you can call to see if there is a better price for upgrading. Celebrity runs specials online so keep an eye out for those. You will want to do it prior to boarding as you won't get as good of a price for the upgrade onboard. Evening Chic nights, there will probably be 2. You can dress up as much as you want or stick with the usual Smart Casual dress code. We might be on the same cruise-We're on June 4th! If you haven't found the Roll Call yet, head on over there. It's pretty active!
  5. TA's will have blocks of cabins available so it's quite possible to pick a cabin. (I'm not soliciting business but I'm a TA and just took a glance at the October sailing and see cabins assignments available) so depending on the date, there is a good possibility of picking a cabin. Celebrity buffets are very good. Regarding dining assignments, the Edge Class has 4 main dining rooms. You can go to any one of them at any time for dinner. You may have to wait a bit (they'll give you a pager) but you'll be able to dine.
  6. Firstly, Hello fellow Yuman!!! Nice to see a neighbor in the group! We've been on 9 (soon to be 10) Celebrity cruises. Every one of them has been amazing! You've gotten great information here. Over the years the dress code has relaxed but it is still there. In the evening plan on men wearing slacks and a button or polo shirt. Nice jeans are fine. Women will wear slacks, nice tops, capri's, dresses, etc... On Evening Chic you can dress up more but it is not required. Just no flip flops, shorts, hats, etc... First stop is always the Martini Bar for our first "We're back on the ship" drink. I don't think I've had a bad meal on Celebrity. My husband loves the escargot! We have not been on any of the Edge Class ships but everyone raves about Eden for dinner. I would suggest going to Youtube and search for Celebrity Beyond. You'll find lots of good information in these videos. Hope you love it!!
  7. For anyone that has done this tour @GenerationX -I believe you did this??? We will be in La Spezia overnight and doing Florence on Day 1. I'm trying to decide if we should do Cinque Terre or Tuscany. Tuscany has always been my bucket list place to see. I know this will only be a small taste. My question is: did you feel like you got a feel for Tuscany? Was it a relaxing day? Florence will be a very long day and I'm thinking something like this might be perfect. Suggestions please. This is for June. Thanks!
  8. At the WCB, try the Above The Clouds. It's Zacapa rum infused with applewood smoke. Sounds weird but it really is good and fun to watch them make!
  9. If you find out this information, would you mind sharing it on our roll call. We're on the same cruise as you.
  10. I have not sailed on the Jewel but am booking my cousin and wife in a Club Balcony cabin on the 17 day Panama Canal cruise in November. The Club Balcony cabins are only on deck 11 with deck 12 being public space. Can anyone let me know if they had noise issues in these cabins and if there are any suggestions for where on deck 11 to book for the least amount of noise. I always prefer to be sandwiched between cabins but that doesn't seem to be an option here. Thanks for any help you can offer!
  11. Has anyone done either of these Celebrity excursions: Celebrity Tuscan Farmhouse Celebrity Village of Lari and Farmhouse Has anyone done either of these? If so, what was your experience? Our other thought is Cinque Terre.
  12. True, however usually any port related posts over there will be moved to the Port of Call section.
  13. I'm trying to decide what we should do in La Spezia (on our second day). First thought was taking the ferry to a couple of the towns in Cinque Terre on our own. I am also looking at a couple of Celebrity tours for Tuscany: Celebrity Tuscan Farmhouse Celebrity Village of Lari and Farmhouse Has anyone done either of these? If so, what was your experience? Another thought is a private excursion for Cinque Terre Thanks!
  14. Has anyone taken their RV up to Vancouver and found a place to store it while on a cruise. I know of an RV park outside of Seattle that we can store ours at and then drive or take the train up to Vancouver but I was curious as to if there is something in the Vancouver area. Thanks!
  15. We are on Celebrity Equinox in June 2024. There seems to be some conflicting information. For anyone that has been to this port in the recent past, is it a tender port or docked? Thanks!
  16. Glad I could help!! For the signature, go up to your user name in the top right and click on it. In the dropdown, click on Settings then on the left you will see Signature. Hope this helps! P.S. Your comments were so nice and made my day. I just had 2 people cancel their 30 day cruises today and I was a little down. Thanks!!
  17. Cruiseplum.com is an excellent search engine for finding cruises (it is not a TA site and you can't book through the site, it is strictly a search site). You can filter in so many different ways. I just did a filtered search for leaving the UK and ending in Barcelona and there were no Celebrity ships that do that, however I found Norwegian, Virgin, HAL, Royal, Azamara, etc...
  18. Apologies. It was early when I read the post and missed the part that you were still on the ship.
  19. I'm wondering why the OP is so hesitant to state the actual cabin number. Very vague.
  20. Most cruise ships (and hotels, office buildings, etc...) do not have a level 13.
  21. Windy is a great app. We use it for our RV travels. A motorhome traveling down the road is a big billboard in wind so we like to be prepared. Loving your review. We'll be on Equinox in June.
  22. We've been invited twice (went both times). We have sailed Celebrity 9 times and are lowly Select tier and we only sail in regular verandas. I've enjoyed the experience and if ever invited again, I would go.
  23. I tried searching but I was unable to find my answers. If I have the Princess Plus but would like a drink that is more than $15, would I just pay the difference plus gratuity? Thanks!
  24. The shorter cruises tend to (not always) be more of a "party" atmosphere. For many, it's just a weekend getaway. I love the Reflection, but I would stick with the Beyond. I haven't been on her, but there will be plenty to do and you'll get the full feel of what cruising is like. Just my 2 cents worth.
