  1. I guess you are missing how similar two name are. "I'll meet you at the salty dog..."
  2. That's not a monkey wrench. That's simply how to cheat. By you cheating, you are stealing time from people who are following the rules. On Princess, you would probably just get some dirty looks. On some other cruise lines, you might well enjoy a fist fight. This is one area where princess can learn from other cruise lines. And with regard to your other comment ... just take the elevator. Often there is an officer on the tender deck checking people coming out of the elevator to bust the self-important cheaters. Some one needs to resurrect the thread: "What kind of people will I meet on a princess cruise?" ... as this is a good example.
  3. I think it's fair to evaluate any cruise a cruiseline offers. I was always suprised before the pandemic, when carnival kept around old ships like the ecstasy ... which was horrible compared to their newer ships. Same with Princess, passengers are free to (and do) evaluate a cruise line based on the cruise they are on. You almost never see posts here warning prospective cruisers away from older ships...
  4. Isn't it confusing for princess to have a 'Salty Dog Grill' and a 'Salty Dog Gastropub' ?
  5. That seems to be where old princess ships go to die. Just a stop-off on the way to Alang. (no commentary on Australia ... just an observation of what has happened over time)
  6. Yes, I agree. The job of any public company is to maximize shareholder equity. You don't do that by under-pricing your product.
  7. So if I have a current booking, what? They're not going to love seeing me on board? I think my feelings are hurt.
  8. Those numbers look pretty poor. Wait 'til 4000 people try sharing THAT connection.
  9. Princess needs to adjust the price upward, until this isn't a problem. Then when sales are slow, offer a special. There are many posts by people explaining their planned scheme to be on board first, and then race to the sanctuary to book.
  10. This is full of annoying pop-up ads, but maybe still worth clicking: https://www.cruisecritic.com/articles.cfm?ID=2144
  11. I think the issue here is that you mistakenly think that a booking is YOUR booking, and you are free to set it up as you wish, change it was you wish, share a cabin with whomever you wish... You may not behave this way. You must follow the edicts layed down by nameless, faceless medallion app developers. Resistance is futile. All your base are belong to us. What will you ask for next? To use the app on a ship made of steel?!?!?!? The above is sarcasm. But, after reading years of app problems people have endured, I'm not really sure.
  12. I try and keep my hopes realistic. Less disappointment that way.
  13. How do you propose to post about tipping, and not start such a thread? On there other hands, there are many, many correspondents here lying in wait add their comment on tipping, and appreciate your wind up.
  14. In the event there are no sewage odors, it sends some...
  15. I think most folks would consider the USS Cole a ship... The SMIT Blue Marlin is just bigger.
  16. Are you allowed to have a contrary opinion here !!???!!! Over time, there have been hundreds of topics here, like: I don't like 'X', so it should be removed. If Princess read and acted on posts here, there would be nothing left on their ships, as there is no aspect that some cruiseCRITIC has not complained about.
  17. An old Tina Turner concert must be shown during every voyage. Requirement of maritime law.
  18. This certainly depends on the area in which 'one' is cruising. I carefully wrote 'one' so you wouldn't take it as a personal attack. On a sea day in the carribbean, especially in the afternoon, there are usually some people watching. The chairs are not in a special formation, but they are watching from where ever they happen to be. How many? Who knows. This isn't 'A Clockwork Orange' ... people aren't tied to their chairs and forced to watch just because they are on the lido deck.
  19. Often just supervisors. Depends on the ship. They try to trick passengers by wearing the same jackets as head waiters.
  20. Great idea. Thanks for the 'road test' report!
  21. I think a padgett panda would come with something like a parking meter... ...so you would have to pay by the minute for it.
  22. Once, on Emerald, there was a gent haranguing the head waiter at the dining room entrance. Someone has 'stolen' his scooter, while he was eating. I can understand the confusion, as there were more than a dozen scooters parked outside the dining room. But, I felt scooby-doo had a good chance of solving this, as the perp was still on board! This just needs a little sea witch logo!
