  1. If only there had been a year or two break in cruising, where these problems could have been found and fixed, with little impact on paying customers...
  2. This is my current travel router: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N5RCZQH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I am sure there are others that are just as good. I had another previously that also included a battery so that it a power bank as well. I switched, as technically, you're not supposed to put a power bank in a checked bag on a flight. 1) Before you leave home, connect the travel router to your home wifi, and then connect the firestick to the travel router. 2) When you're in a hotel/ship you can open the travel router from a laptop, or a phone, and connect it to what ever network is in the area. Hotel, ship, etc. The login is page is whatever is normally display to connect to wifi. Captive portal, password, etc. Now, you're done. Once you get the travel router connected, that's it. Because you did step 1 at home, the firestick alredy knows how to connect to the travel router. So, there is nothing else that you need to do for the fire stick. You can also install a fire-tv app on your phone. This works just like the firestick remote, but also gives you a keyboard for passwords. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.amazon.storm.lightning.client.aosp The first two screen shots are the ones of interest, and show the phone being used as a firestick remote. For extra credit, learn the mac address of your firestick, and then turn it off. Use something like a linux laptop, or a phone with an app that allows you to change the device's MAC address. Spoof the address of the firestick, and log in. Now, turn off the laptop, and turn on the firestick. The local servers recognize your firestick's MAC address, and notice that it is already logged in. Most of the above, you can try at home, so you don't have to waste vacation time on it. One final note: if you happen to have some videos on a thumb drive, you can plug the thumb drive into the travel router, and watch the video on the firestick --> TV.
  3. Probably no. Recent, high-end android phones are able to create a wifi hot spot from a wifi signal. I don't think this is universal across every android phone. Other than in this wierd pay by device situation, most people woulnd't need to create a hot spot from exisiting wifi. Other users can simply connect to the wifi, with no need to go through your hotspot...
  4. What sharing a mobile data connection. it can be disabled by you carrier, so you may, or may not have it. I'm not 100% sure if you carrier has disabled it for mobile data, if it is still available to share a wifi connection. It can be a tile ... swip down, opening a page of tiles: wifi, mobile data, etc. Look for 'Mobile Hotspot' ... keep sliding right or left through pages of tiles. Or, open settings, and search for 'Mobile Hotspot'. ...sometime called tethering. The first time you enable it, you will have to give it a name, so other folks know which wifi to connect to. This should be saved, so you don't have to do it again. When you turn it on, folks around you can see and connect to the wifi you have setup. Good to have a password, so only certain anybodies can connect. Not anybody, anybody. If all users disconnect from wifi, it should turn off automatically. So, you will probably have to turn it on for the next use.
  5. Paaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrr-taaaaaaaay! 🙂 I added the smiley face for the humor impaired gramarians here...
  6. I think Arnold Donald deserves some 'love' for signing up for this. Although, that was per-pandemic.
  7. I think we can probably use the whole name, as A* and Carnival issued a joint press release warning the world. https://newsroom.accenture.com/news/accenture-named-premier-innovation-partner-for-carnival-corporations-global-experience-and-innovation-team.htm And, another: https://newsroom.accenture.com/news/celebrity-cruises-to-collaborate-with-accenture-to-bring-modern-luxury-brand-promise-to-its-digital-customer-experience.htm
  8. Not me. I want to be on the open deck, with lots of fresh air, and a clear view of the horizon. Otherwise, I will be seeing what I had for dinner, and not is a good way. I was once on a motion simulator ride at a major theme park. Afterwards, I was sick for 2 days.
  9. At least it changed, so there is no longer the endless begging here for the only coupon which had any value... Which ... I think ... was a BOGO on coffee card. But, that answer is hazy. The annoyance from the endless begging is still very clear.
  10. THAT was a long time ago. The cruise cards had your folio number. And before that, the Ving cards had nothing.
  11. From reading cruise critic, it seems like this has had no effect on attracting customers. There is grumbling here, but almost no one has announced they are quitting princess. So, from a business perspective, this is a good decision. Upside: save money Downside: none Princess should reduce benefits until they see a decrease in customers. Then, back-off just a little bit. This is the same way one torques a bolt. Turn it until the head snaps off, then back off just a little bit.
  12. I believe you. Even if princess wanted to do this, I doubt they could pull it off. If people want to do things to protect themselves ... go for it! If people want to do nothing ... go for it! What others do doesn't affect me. A few years ago, there was a lot of advertising like this: People took him up on it! His identity was stolen at least 13 times. https://www.wired.com/2010/05/lifelock-identity-theft/ https://www.wired.com/2010/03/lifelock-accused-of-running-con-operation/ If only he had had an aluminum foil hat!
  13. How would a faraday cage help with a card which has only a magnetic stripe?
  14. Wow, has that list of departments grown. In the old days, it was housekeeping, dining, and (per purchase) bar. Guest services, galley, onboard revenue !!!! wow. I'm assuming 'onboard revenue' is shoppies...
  15. It will probably be on princess stateroom tv for a couple years, as 'loveboat the next wave' was. You've been warned!
  16. Only if you care whether you are used, or appreciated...
  17. It's their baby. They are going to love it, even if it's ugly. With Jerry O'Connell on it, I was surprised it survived past the first episode.
  18. That's probably a warning about the ... um, spicy ... reviews of the app.
  19. I'm not sure if this is about rewarding first responders, or filling berths...
  20. Pro Forma Cruise Director joke: If you are going to be late getting back to the ship, be sure to bring your camera... ...so you can get a memorable picture of YOUR ship sailing away.
  21. As others have mentioned, signs at each port entrance listing the berth assignments. If you care to, you can check this link on the morning you embark: https://pevvesseltraffic.broward.org/webx/ If the table entry is tagged 'completed', your ship is already alongside at the listed berth.
  22. Um ... those each of those are two 'movements' in the same day: Morning: Sea Bouy to Berth 21. Secured alongside for the day, at berth 21. Afternoon Berth 21 to Sea Bouy. 10 days later... Morning: Sea Bouy to Berth 21.
