  1. I have a feeling you may have to collect your bag for "border control inspection", but can then bag drop it (if it has been checked through) before getting the inter terminal shuttle. My experience was from several years ago so things may have changed.
  2. Thanks JP ( and Chris) for the great review. I have a question please. We will be on Le Laperouse in the Kimberley in July - and wondering how many folk (approx) are on each zodiac and if they use all 14 zodiacs each excursion?
  3. You will require either a multi entry visa or as some folk on these boards have done - 2 single entry visas.
  4. We haven't been able to justify the cost of moving from aquarium rooms on our European river cruises, but would do so if they were more equitable. In Asia we have always been higher. Another thing to consider is your location, have heard those cabins in the rear often suffer from engine noise (especially during the night cruising). Also avoid the cabin next to the gym if you can. We had this cabin on our last cruise and someone started their workout on the treadmill at 10 or 11 each night.
  5. I have not been on the Queen, but have stayed on one of the Princesses. My understanding is that there are 4-5 different mooring spots used by the company and the boats cruise between the different spots each day. From the various mooring spots you do your "river safari" from the small tender/runabout boats. So yes, it is like a large houseboat. The Princess had 4 cabins and we had our own private tender boat for the duration of our stay. These photos were taken June 2015. Passing the Queen. The Princess moored.
  6. I would suggest taking the walker. We were on a Danube cruise with Avalon this June. At these ports, Bratislava, Durnstein, Linz, Passau, the tours started direct from the pier - ie no busses. There was a lady who used a walker and she was able to join in. Her husband also would push her seated when she would tire. The local guides (in the gentle walker groups) would often choose/change the direction to accommodate the walker - choosing ramps rather than stairways etc. Also places to sit whilst listening to them rather than standing. The bus drivers were also very helpful with storing of the walker etc. Do your research on the included tours, speak to the tour director and enjoy your holiday.
  7. Why don’t you catch the train? You could buy the special regional ticket - 9 euro each for August. And then a taxi from the station to your hotel.
  8. I have read on some old trip reports that they used either the Man'o'War Steps or the ones nearer the bridge. Think it was when Crystal were moored there.
  9. Funny, this also showed up on my Facebook feed yesterday. Thought it was because we have just returned from Germany.
  10. Somehow my comment from ladt night didn’t post - so here it is. With today’s rain we will be able to make Deggendorf tomorrow to disembark. Yesterday, captain was unsure if he would proceed past Vilhossen ( sorry about spelling).
  11. Well, we found our bit of metal. The door frame leading into the bathroom. We have used our hooks to hang up some washing on coat hangers. Just have to keep the door open. Yeah
  12. We are on Avalon Passion. We have not been able to use our magnets.
  13. There are also 2 USB ports on the desk.
  14. This is the info we received this week. Tipping. Tipping on cruise holidays is a general practice and while the amount of these gratuities will depend upon your degree of satisfaction for services received, many of our clients have asked us for general tipping guidelines. For a good job, we recommend 3 Euro per passenger per day for the Cruise Director and 12 Euro per passenger per day for the crew-this will be pooled and distributed fairly among those who have been of service to you (including those of the personnel who work only behind the scenes and whose service is equally indispensable to your enjoyment of the cruise). Please note that tips for your Cruise Director, the ship’s crew, local guides and drivers are included in the price of your holiday. If you would like to provide an extra tip, envelopes specifically for this purpose will be left in your stateroom on the day prior to disembarkation, and a designated box in which to deposit the envelopes will be set up at the Reception when you leave the ship.
  15. Thanks for the confirmation. I did some playing around with the AP last night. If you put in 2 travellers on the route you only get the “normal regional “fare ie 34€ for 2 travellers. You need to put in 1 traveller for the 9€ ticket to be offered. Then of course buy 2 tickets - 1 in each name.
  16. Well these are the routes I am hoping to use the ticket on. (As a dumb international tourist) - Munich to Dachau (S bahn ?). Then Rothenberg on d' Tauber to Berchesgarten - (looks like all Regional trains). Then Berchesgarten to Garmisch Partenkirchen. Then Garmisch to Munich airport.
  17. On our cruise our Avalon ship was moored near the Intercontinental Hotel. (I just checked my photos from the other side of the river) - but we met prior to boarding at the Movenpick Hotel and were transfered by bus.
  18. you can use magnetic hooks to hang up a washing line, provide extra hanging space for hats, coats bags etc or just to put up daily paperwork
  19. Thank you for this information, was just able to buy 2 tickets for my husband and I for our July stay. Was originally buying 3 x Bavarian Regional tickets for our travel days.
  20. I can't answer your question specifically, the Christmas Market cruise we went on was on the Main. Starting in Frankfurt cruising to Nurenberg and then land to Prague. We were able to visit the markets in Frankfurt pre cruise, markets during cruise, Wurzberg, Bamberg and Nuremberg and then Prague. I would suggest you research the various markets the cruise/s your interested in, are likely to visit - ie opening hours and days. You may find your time in port does not match the time the markets are open - one of our stops only had markets on a weekend. If you google German Christmas markets you should get info about different towns etc. Also remember it will be getting dark at around 4.00 pm in Dec.
