  1. I am sure somebody would have either reported them to the Entertainments Manager or he would have found out by other means and they will have faced the consequences of their actions.
  2. If that was the case I bet there would be a very good chance you will not see them again on a Cunard ship any time soon.
  3. Sorry but not on the prices of alcoholic drinks or drinks package I think that comment you have made especially with regards to Cunard is very much tongue in cheek. Having cruised with Cunard for 25 yrs never seen anyone in that condition.
  4. Perhaps so but the Op is specifically asking about naming a Cunard ship Long Charles and the answer would be no. Doesn't matter what other countries or cruise lines name ships that is not what was being asked.
  5. Rumour has it that Paul Ludlow is appearing in the theatre on Arvia very soon with the headlines "Best comedian ever seen on a P&O ship".
  6. Who is to know when the next Cunard ship will be built. Will King Charles still be king then and if he is I very much doubt they would name a ship after a King.
  7. Perhaps so but I can only give my own opinion of the one and only cruise I did with him and his midday announcements were toe curling, cheesy and full of self importance. Everybody to their own and everyone has the right to like and not like whoever they want and if we all liked and disliked the same people it would be a funny world.
  8. I agree with that statement entirely. Whenever we have been on a cruise where he was the Captain if there was a problem he was always there to sort it out and was seen regularly walking around the ship and always spoke and had a smile. Neil Oliver we have known since our first cruise on P&Os Aurora maiden voyage in 2000 when we were lucky to share a dinner table in MDR for majority of evenings and IMO is a fantastic Cruise Director as was and now Entertainments Manager. On the other hand we have been lucky enough to cruise with one Captain only once and all wanted was to walk around the ship thinking how handsome he was and have all the ladies "swoon" over him and loved the sound of his own voice at the noon announcements. Not fair to name him especially at the moment as Arvia has enough problems 😉. Just hope he isnt Captain when we are on Arvia in September.
  9. There argument will be that the little bottles were not refilled just replaced where the bigger bottles are refillable so a massive impact on environment of 1000s of small bottles every week being discarded. There is of course the cost savings which is not surprisingly not mentioned by P&O as how many actually used all the bottles that were replenished and how many have taken small bottles of liquid soap, shampoo, conditioner and moisturiser home with them along with biscuits from cabin and hot chocolate sachets taken from buffet restaurant in the past.
  10. Well I have 2 cruises booked this year on Iona and Arvia and 2 in 2024 on Arvia and Britannia and over 30 cruises since 2000. So I think this gives me reason to have concerns and worry the way P&O are heading.
  11. Having read this thread and those who have put their actual experience of the maiden cruise is damning. Having said that when you get the President in his press statement saying 99-9% had a fantastic cruise and NYE was the best ever and he congratulated magnificent staff will things change.....NO. It is obvious senior managers are happy with the product being sold as is so will not be making any significant, or any, changes. Having said all that people will still carry on sailing with P&O and will not have a wrong word and day they are the best and it is those that P&O will rely on for future bookings. Welcome to the new world of P&O cruising.
  12. It will not let you open form says it's restricted.
  13. Certainly wouldn't put bottles of booze in any suitcase how they get thrown about by coach drivers and baggage handlers at the port.
  14. Cunard don't publish times either. With regards Princess many Americans arrange their own group excursions and not book with Princess so I suppose it is what their market demands.
  15. You would then have the return of people queueing at the Pursers desk demanding compensation because the brochure states arrival of 8-30am and we are 15 minutes late. I know because I have seen it with my own eyes in "the good old days" when P&O used to print arrival and departure times in their brochures for every port of call.
  16. Think you will struggle to find a cruise line that actually sends out luggage labels. Printing them off seems the norm these days.
  17. They used to publish times arriving in port and departure times but was stopped many years ago.
  18. But even better when you get a good discount and superb service from one of Cunard/P&Os leading cruise TAs and award winning on a regular frequency.
  19. Perhaps so but still only classified as Balcony there are no Premium Balcony staterooms as a class.Only Club Balcony and Balcony, if there discrepancies depending on which deck plan you view them that is a mistake by Cunard which needs to be sorted.
  20. Unfortunately there are no direct Cunard staff in Southampton anymore as they are all employed by Carnival UK and deal with both Cunard and P&O. I phoned Southampton on 2 occasions last year one for. Cunard and one for P&O with regards price and availability and was dealt with by the same person even though different telephone numbers were rung. Sign of the times and personally think service has suffered that is why I don't book direct.
  21. Well I have very good cruise specialist TA who has won many awards on a yearly basis, gives excellent service and gave me 5% discount on price booking direct. When you are paying thousands of pounds for you cruise that 5% discount can run into a considerable sum of money.
  22. Applied for my Shareholder Benefit by e-mail direct with P&O on Monday for my cruise on Iona in March and this morning had e-mail confirmation that my OBC has been added. Very impressed.
  23. Always book through a specialist cruise tA and not a High St national TA. They always are cheaper than booking direct with Cunard direct. Can be as much as 5% discount which can be a significant amount.
  24. There isn't any Premium Balcony cabins, they are all the same just different grades due to position of the cabin on the ship. There are also obstructed but essentially all the cabins are the same in size.
  25. I would ASAP contact your TA to confirm you are booked in A2 grade Club Balcony and not BB which is an ordinary balcony cabin. For 2 main reasons there will be a lot of difference in the cost between A2 and BB and also in an A2 you would eat in a different restaurant with a higher dining experience and better food.
