  1. Right. Same with Facebook. Or any of the other media sites that allow dis- and misinformation to flourish. Put it on the Azamara website.
  2. We are all interested in Onward's condition. Read what I wrote before being snarky. Why do we need a godmother to tell us the ship's condition? A godmother is as useful in discussing this topic as your appendix. And nothing in the announcement said a word about discussing the ship's condition. It said "how Onward is doing," whatever that means. Do you really think Carl is going to discuss chips in bathroom sinks or rust on bulkheads? What I'd like Azamara to face up to is to acknowledge the complaints about Onward's condition and schedule something to address that topic directly, because many here booked on Oward have expressed concerns, whether valid or not. Skip the godmother and the fluff. Address the issue head on and forthrightly.
  3. If someone cancels at the last minute for health, family issues, or whatever, they can pick up a few quick books by selling an upgrade to that suite that would have been empty. Would also free up a lower level suite for another upgrade sale.
  4. What's the point? Does anyone care who a ship's godmother is?
  5. Must have been one of those infamous charters on Azamara.🥳
  6. Everyone on board can eat in the specialty restaurants every night if they make reservations. The only difference for suite passengers is that there is no additional charge
  7. Not many good options in the Caribbean. Best one we had was at the Concorde Experience in Barbados.
  8. Onboard (or shipboard) Hotel Directors have different titles varying by cruise line. Both Windstar and Regent call them [Hotel] General Managers. Explora may be the same.
  9. 424 on Pride seems pretty much OK, even though an original oceanview. Pride looks surprisingly good for its age.
  10. No reason to be stressed over the color of your clothes. Relax and just enjoy.
  11. But entirely unnecessary if it's not in your usual cruising wardrobe.
  12. And...really...in the bottom 5-10% of criteria for choosing a cruise.
  13. Refundable OBC is real money, given to Azamara by your TA to credit to your onboard account. It's your money, that's why it's refundable to you if not spent onboard. Nonrefundable OBC is funny money credited to your account by Azamara to spend on marked up stuff (excursions, specialty restaurants, shop items, spa , etc.) sold on the ship. So if you choose to put $nnn into the crew fund, that refundable OBC is real money coming out of your pocket, so dollar-for-dollar or pound-for-pound or whatever it goes at full value to the fund, as if it came straight out of your wallet. A dollar of nonrefundable OBC is not worth a real dollar. It's only worth a dollar of overpriced ship's stuff. If Azamara ever let you give gratuities to a crew member in nonrefundable OBC, I am puzzled as to why.
  14. One person doesn't like a cruise and the world panics. Ridiculous.
  15. May have been compensation for a significant issue or problem described in the post-cruise survey. Or for missed port(s). Or confinement for illness. Or simply a mistake. Can't believe it's for completing a survey.
  16. Sign outside Amphora says to leave torn jeans (also t-shirts, tank tops, hats, etc.) in your suite. Jeans not torn are acceptable to Windstar at dinner.
  17. Have had no serious problems on the way from Iceland to Greenland on Pride. Did a Zoom meeting yesterday with perfect audio and minimal delays in video. No issue connecting.
  18. Just clarifying your statement that "the test must be done within two days of boarding" so that readers aren't misled. It's two days for an antigen test, three for a PCR.
  19. Give me examples. Making up my room and smiling at me is not "above and beyond." No need for your snarky response.
  20. Too long ago to remember. On Azamara it came from TA OBC. May not matter. If you don't spend the TA OBC it should be refunded to your credit card or as cash.
  21. I consider my cruise fare as paying everyone's "base wage" and the $29/day additional charged to my account as the crew's gratuities. Then I make a generous contribution to the crew welfare fund so that all crew members benefit, not just the ones that I see on deck. The guys who work the tenders and varnish the railings and prepare the chocolate pots make my cruise "special" as much as the waiters and room stewards that some are so anxious to tip.
  22. I'm always curious as to what is "exceptional" or, as some say, "above and beyond."
  23. Windstar does and we do it all the time. Only way to do something for the guys who wash pots and clean your clothes. Otherwise, the front of the house staff who just do their job but smile a lot and gush over you get everything.
