We like to be high and forward, usually Panorama deck. If the ship has a Cloud 9 Spa, we get a Spa Balcony. There is very little traffic and relatively quiet.
We go to Nachi Cocum every time we go to Cozumel, except once. We wanted to try Mr Sanchos. Never again. So crowded. The lounge chairs are stacked close together all the way down to the water so there is no beach.
On my last cruise, I made an effort to visit each bar on the ship at least once. This was the on the Breeze on a 7 day cruise, there are 15 bars and I think I missed 2. I'm not a big drinker, so this was a challenge, but fun. I believe I missed the piano bar and the bar in the steak house. This gave me the opportunity to try different drinks I don't think I would normally try. I got a lot of good input and suggestions from the different bartenders. The hubs drinks even less than I do so he was not much fun, but kept me company. We are going with our son and his family on our upcoming cruise on the Magic and we are going to do our own private bar crawl then. Is this lame or a fun idea?
My daughter lives in Charleston. Did you see the ghost at Poogan's Porch? We've been there several times and have yet to meet her. Her name is Zoe. She and her sister lived at that address in the early 1900's. Elizabeth, the sister, died and Zoe never truly got over her death. She slowing had a mental letdown and died in the mental ward of a hospital. They say her ghost haunts the restaurant.
Great review! The Breeze is my favorite ship. It's been a couple of years since we cruised (pre-pandemic). I didn't know bar soap was no longer. We always bring our own antibacterial liquid soap to wash our hands. But I am sure if you asked for bar soap, the stewards would bring you some.
My daughter lives in Charleston, so I am going to miss sailing from there. It's only a 5 hour drive from us, no hotel and no pay parking. Looking forward to your review.
Seriously, if you can change your flight, that would be a good decision. There are so many things that can delay your flight. We learned on our first cruise. We booked an early morning flight on the morning of our cruise. Our plane was late getting to our airport because of severe weather where it originated. We finally arrived at the port after 3pm. Too close for comfort. The anxiety at the possibility of missing our cruise put a cloud over our first day on board.
I get that plastic is an issue, but why straws? Think of all the plastic on the ship. Everything is wrapped in plastic. Plastic bags of all kinds, ie., carrying, bags you put the bulk candy in, plastic coffee lids, etc.
Ha! I remember them well. Half way through your drink, the top end would collapse. I remember tearing off the collapsed part until I had just a few inches left. I would abandon the straw and just drink for the cup or bottle. 🙂
I have gotten used to not using straws. The only time I really used them is when I have a frozen drink (rarely) or a milk shake. I do plan to take my own straws on our upcoming cruise.
