When we lived in KW one of the fun things to do was to go to Fat Tuesdays for a drink. Get the bar stools facing the street and watch all the crazy tourists. It was free entertainment. 🤣

Is it just one glass? They definitely aren’t putting much in there.

I’ve been behind on CC so just getting started on your review. Looking forward to your thoughts compared to Royal. We have Gunbae booked for our cruise, but need to cancel it. When I heard they play a drinking game and the crew encourage it, that was all it took. I know you don’t have to participate, but if people are going to be pounding on the tables, it’s a definite no go for us.

I’m definitely no dummy. 😆 For our first free pinnacle cruise we can get a 7 day Caribbean balcony for free. It can only be a 7 day cruise on a ship that is at least a year old and a balcony to get it free regardless of the price. If it doesn’t fit this criteria then it’s $2400.00 off of any cruise. We decided to book the 7 day Icon in an aft large balcony for next April which is 7 days. We would prefer to cruise out of Port Everglades, but it is what it is. The price would have cost us $8,889.24. 😳 😱😖 We are only having to pay $368.24 for taxes. We will never, ever pay those kind of prices for a 7 day cruise. We never thought we would sail the Icon again because of the prices, but for this bargain we will.

Yikes, 7k? Prices are insane. Was that coming up soon? We booked a SV on the Ascent for Nov 2025 for about 3200.00. It includes Wi-Fi and drinks, but this is an interline rate and refundable. Just looked at our date of Nov 13, 2025 and for the SV balcony with drinks and Wi-Fi included it’s about 4000.00. That’s on the Celebrity website.

If you don’t have Bluetooth on, you will have trouble with the app?

That’s what I’m hoping for, but not sure where it will leave people like me who are getting the DBE due to status match. Will they allow us to keep the status match? Only time will tell. I also never have a bill, except for about 10.00 to have some shirts pressed.

I don’t see it as paying for the benefits on other lines. I see it as I paid for cruises and the benefits are a bonus. I would have spent that money regardless. I’m not trying to knock VV. I’m just trying to find out if I’m missing something since they say theirs is better. I’m also interested to see what they end up with as their benefits once it’s finalized. Really looking forward to our first VV cruise in a little more than a week. 💃🏼 🥂

Which benefits are you talking about? The DBE?

I was looking to see what the differences are in the loyalty program since VV says theirs is the best at sea. I’m not talking about the cruise fare or what’s included in it such as better food, booking bonuses, etc. Those things change with different bookings. I listed wifi under VV. I didn’t know they have 2 different kinds. Royal used to, but now only one using Starlink. There must not have been a special for the 600.00 bonus when I booked, but that’s not part of the rewards program which I also don’t think the rebooking thing is either. Was it because you canceled a cruise and rebooked it? Those bonuses are something I would be looking at when comparing cruise prices. Thanks for mentioning the pressing and dry cleaning. Can I bring my husband’s uniform? 🤣 Just kidding as they would immediately recognize it as an airline uniform. I would never do it anyway. Dry cleaning would be good if I was on a longer cruise. Yes, I did spend a ton of money on Royal in the last 13 years to get to where I am, but I enjoyed every cruise. I would have spent that money regardless. I did get the status match to get the DBE. One definite thing I know I’ll enjoy is no kids.

Thanks. After posting this question I found out later that since we were matched with the Deep Blue Extras we’ll be able to board after the Rockstars. Normally we are never in a rush to board, but since this is our first cruise on VV I want to start exploring the ship asap. Thanks, I was hoping I would get lucky and get some more $.

One thing I really like about Royal Caribbean (maybe other lines do this also) is that they installed hand washing sinks at the entrance of the Wind Jammer aka buffett. They always have someone there to remind people to wash their hands. It’s kinda sad they have that person there as people should already know to do this. I find it funny when people won’t go on cruises because they are afraid of germs especially when they are in the medical field and are exposed daily to god knows what.
