  1. The Cruise Line may have updated the policies provided by their insurance carrier, but last time I looked at a policy, it was cruise only. No flights unless booked with Air2Sea and no hotels. No optional pre or post cruise days. Land/Sea in Alaska booked through the cruise line is different, and coverage should be included for the entire dates of your trip. (But check on airline coverage) Or better yet, ask on the Travel Insurance board. Link: Cruise/Travel Insurance - Cruise Critic Community
  2. Additionally, their other revenue producing idea was to replace all of my old fillings, 3 or 4. I was starting to get dental anxiety, which is something I have never had before. I have a benign primary maxillary tumor in my upper palate, an ameloblastoma. Dentist didn't even mention that or want to talk about it. It is small and slow growing, and the surgery would be awful.
  3. No. But the same thing happened to me when my dentist retired. The new guy is abrupt and gives a 2 second look at my mouth. The hygienists are all about upselling. The first thing they tried to sell me on was the deep cleaning. Then the next appointment when I needed a crown he backtracked on the deep cleaning and said it wasn't necessary right now. My last scheduled appointment with them was last February, but the road through the canyon had washed out, so I cancelled it. I have to find a new (and closer) dentist. But in answer to your question, my secretary had the 2-appointment deep cleaning. She said it was painful. Both during the procedure and for a couple of days after. IMO, it is a money maker for the dentist.
  4. Don't buy gift cards. They are nearly impossible to use. If you can get their reservation number, it is possible to purchase onboard credit from Gifts & GEAR for their account that could be used for dining.
  5. Welcome to Cruise Critic! Royal Caribbean is not affiliated with Carnival Cruise Line and cannot be booked through their agents. If it is just a regular travel agent that maybe specializes in Carnival, they should be able to book any cruise line. But service for the reservation might be a little more difficult.
  6. Oh my gosh! 2 Cellos are excellent. You may have posted them first, but they are so fun. The pirate video is new to me. ☺️
  7. Today was a really good day in packing. ☺️ I have a confession to make. I am a superfan of "As Seen On TV" items. My BIL even gave me a roll of As Seen on TV stickers, so I could add them to my Christmas gifts.πŸ˜„ Ron Popiel was my hero. I was the proud owner of the Popiel Pocket Fisherman, The Buttoneer, The Smokeless Ashtray, The Inside the Egg, Egg Scrambler, The Hot Dogger and probably other stuff, long gone. I still use the Buttoneer though. And one other item, The Amazing Handy Bundler. "As Seen on TV" It uses zip ties and clips, to, well, bundle or constrain things. πŸ˜„ We are not under time issues for moving. I have been working on the spare room and closet for about 3 weeks. First off, I found 3 refill packages for the Handy Bundlerdl And then TODAY! I actually found the Amazing Handy Bundler! I almost thought I was going to have to buy a new one on EBay. I know. "Simple minds, simple pleasures." Anyway. I was really excited to finally find it. 🀣 Now I just have to find something to bundle.
  8. Scientologists don't help people in need. (That I am aware of). I had friends (Acquaintances) that progressed to quite high up in the hierarchy as trainers, (Including moving to Florida for their beliefs) before eventually leaving the church/cult. I had another friend who joined but dropped out after a year of sessions because it was too expensive to advance to another "level" πŸ™„ And on a couple of Southern Caribbean cruises, we saw the Freewind in several ports. The young people were doing training exercise in lifeboats, (rowing) and they were doing calisthenics on the pier and on the deck. All in blue jumpsuits. I don't know. It is just their thing. Maybe they only take it out for cruise when they have a cadre of young, paying recruits?
  9. Here are better photos of the ruins at San Gervasio. Really, if you haven't seen ruins before, these are easy to access. There is a lot of stuff there. More, than last time we visited. They have excavated a lot more: San Gervasio | Cozumel Parks It was still early discovery with archeology students last time were there.☺️
  10. I think internal fixation means plates and screws. I don't know anything about the rest. Your poor daughter. 😟
  11. We call them the budget ruins, but you can always visit the San Gervasio ruins near Cozumel. When we went it was a ship excursion so there was a bus and I think a sandwich lunch. The whole visit takes about 4 hours. Maybe 30-40 minutes to get there, and around 2 hours at the ruins with a guide. They are not as fancy as Chichen Itza or Tulum, but San Gervasio is the closest ruin site, and impressive in their own way. https://travel.usnews.com/Cozumel_Mexico/Things_To_Do/San_Gervasio_Ruins_12581/
  12. Shoot! We're out. I'm not paying $11,000 for a GS on a 13-night cruise! Not with airfare and hotels on top of that. I had really hoped we could swing it for our anniversary and retirement cruise. But that is too much money. When we had it booked in 2020, it was longer, and about $6K. They are pricing themselves out of our price range.
  13. @dani negreanu This is a pretty cool story: Hiker discovers rare 2,800-year-old amulet in Israel Hiker discovers rare 2,800-year-old amulet in Israel (yahoo.com) (I am taking a break from packing to surf the internet ☺️)
  14. 🀣🀣☺️ I'm glad you are okay, with just some car damage. Out of control slides (well, really any car accident) are very scary and stressful. As is dealing with insurance and all the aftermath. Maybe Eric can take you to work while the car is being repaired. It was convenient to be retired when my car was in the body shop recently, and we managed without a rental and just one vehicle for 10 days. we couldn't have done that when we were both working.
  15. Welcome to Cruise Critic! We are looking forward to hearing about your cruise, too. ☺️
  16. According to my photos it was May 19 (2011) for something called Dutch Navy Days. It might be like Fleet Week and an annual celebration? There doesn't seem to be much information about it. It was really fun to watch. They ran a small ferry to get across the canal. but it was packed. We just waited for the bridge to swing back open. ☺️
  17. Last time we were in Curacao, the concierge mentioned some sort of show. By the time we had walked through the fort and across the bridge, I was hot and cranky. I convinced Bill to sit by the water at an outdoor, bar so we could drink. While we were sitting there, first the bridge rolled back: And then this happened: And we went on to be treated to a 3-hour military show. And we had front row seats: One of those unexpected and delightful things that sometimes happen on vacation. ☺️
  18. Don't be ridiculous. We don't "hate" any team. We watch the Super Bowl no matter who is playing. Of course, we root for a local team. But I thought the flying Ravens, Eagles and Seahawks was one of the best, and funniest commercials. πŸ˜ƒ
  19. I'm an only child too. For all parents, it would be greatly appreciated if we didn't inherit a house FULL of stuff. It is going on six years, and we are still trying to clean out my mom's house. I have no idea how my mom accumulated so much stuff. 20 quilted Christmas placemats with matching napkins? At least 50 non holiday placemats and napkins? She lived pretty much alone, and her table seats 4, maybe 6 with the leaf in. And then there are the spare appliances and fixtures in the basement. And the full closets. She has a jacuzzi tub in the master bathroom, and an extra pink one in the basement. πŸ™„ She had an idea that she would build a live in unit in the basement. That was after we told her we didn't want a pool table down there. I pleaded with her to get rid of some of it while she was alive. She laughed, and said, "You will probably want to kill me over all the stuff, if I wasn't already dead." And she's right. I have been very annoyed sometimes in this long process. We don't have any kids and will probably leave most everything to Bill's two younger brothers. We are paring down and getting rid of a lot of stuff. We will get rid of even more, if/when we move again. We don't need so much stuff. 😊
