At an Meet and Greet, there is no need to wear anything different than what you started the day wearing. Very casual and most times does not last very long. A chance to meet the people on your Roll Call and be introduced to some of the Senior Officers of the ship. Usually the ship will provide pastries, coffee, tea and juices.

I booked The Getaway for THIS Thanksgiving in a Studio just a few days ago. The cruise was a good deal but the last minute air fare and scheduling is a different story.
-
Next week, I will board The Getaway for my 21st Norwegian cruise all of it as a solo passenger. LOVE IT!!
-
You might also be able to get a post cruise tour from Norwegian that will end at the airport.
-
No, you would not miss anything. The only thing with any balcony is that you would see only your side of the ship. Depending on what ship you will be sailing, sometimes the Captain will open the crew area deck all the way forward on Deck 4 for the Crossing. The last time I did the Crossing, they had the big screen in the lobby pulled down and were showing the bow web cam pictures in real time. I have done this cruise twice, bit in an inside cabin and DID NOT miss a thing.

The Spirit in January 2008 out of New Orleans

I book the transfer from the ship to the airport regardless of the port. I buy it from my travel agent as part of my cruise package. You can also purchase it on board at the Guest Services Desk. Sometimes you have to wait a bit for the bus to fill before it leaves for the airport.

The other MAJOR issue could be Customs at the Port of LA, which can be a nightmare.

WOW!! Thank you for the wonderful pictures. I appreciate you taking the time to take the pictures and then posted them. She is really beginning to take shape. Still a long ways to go, but She is getting there.

Spirit was in Barcelona at 5:30 AM and we could get off at 6:30 AM with a 40 minute bus ride to the airport. Not much traffic at that time on a Sunday. Can you get transportation from the ship to the airport?
You should be able to purchase an airport transfer for your Jade cruise. I would doubt that it would get you to the airport in time fore a 9:15 A.M. flight. From what I know of the distance between between the ship and the airport, I doubt that you would have enough time to get to the airport and make such an early flight.

And I asked the "stupid" question because I was thinking it might be too cool on deck to sit and enjoy but maybe it will only be cool while at the glaciers? Anyway, cold doesn't bother me much so I know I'll be out there! Or either on my balcony. Probably divide my time between my balcony and out on deck with the rest of my fellow cruisers! Make some new friends!
All the way to the front of The Sun on Deck 11 is an Observation Lounge with a outdoor deck area. That would be good place to watch while in Alaska. At certain times it might get real crowded, but there is a good deal of space to watch the world go by. Have a great time.
-
Yes, there will be deck chairs but there will be plenty of room at the railing for viewing. When is your Alaskan cruise? Have you joined the Roll Call for it? If not, please do. The others on your cruise will be more than willing to answer your questions and help you along in the process. I will be sailing to Alaska on the 7th of May out of Seattle, Washington on The Jewel. This will be my 3rd Alaskan cruise.

You sign up at the Guest Services Desk to have your name entered into a drawing for the Officer's Dinner. The dress code is resort casual. There is NO charge for this dinner. it is a very wonderful evening. I sign up for it every cruise and have yet to be disappointed.

John,
You have a new Staff Captain who boarded yesterday. P-G Nillson originally from Sweden.
-
As of Friday 24 October, The Dawn has a new Captain. I do not know his name.
-
I wish her well.
-
Yes, Sean is currently on vacation and is scheduled to return on 1 November.
-
Errol Bailey is currently the Hotel Director on The Getaway: hot57@ncl.com

According to the Roll Call for tomorrow's cruise, they are going to Bermuda, so I would assume that you will also go.
-
I am in hopes that Julie will open The Escape so that I can cruise with her again. She always amazes me.
-
I sailed on the Getaway in mid June (over Father's Day and the beginning of summer vacation season), we had about 4600 passengers. Except for immediately following the Muster Drill and a couple of times when there were events in the lobby did it seem crowded.

Spring Break usually runs from the last week of February through Easter week which in 2015 would mean until the 11th or 12th of April, Easter being April 5th.
-
I would speak to someone at the Guest Services Desk or the Restaurant Reservation Desk. You will receive a one layer cake and usually the staff will sing "Let Me Call You Sweetheart".
-
The Star will be in dry dock from the 4th to 14th of March 2015.

If your cruise is on The Spirit, She has a coffee bar tucked into a corner of the lobby. Coffee is available until very late and there should be munchies in the display case to eat. Have a great cruise.
