Need opinions from others who have done Alaska cruises... is it worth it to get a balcony vs an inside cabin? Are there things you can bundle up in a hurry to get out & see on the balcony that you might miss if you have to get dressed plus get bundled up to go out on deck if you are in an inside cabin? Does anyone know?
I am heading out in May for my 3rd Alaska cruise ALWAYS in an inside cabin. There are lots of places on The Sun and the Jewel class ships where you can view Alaska without being outside. This year southern Alaska has had a very mild winter, so you may not need a very heavy jacket.
I love being in an Inside cabin.

I was on the same cruise as tallyho8 in a Studio cabin. I saw the Concierge Adian almost everyday. All of his information was a letter and all the invitations I received for various events. I did not use his services but have used them in the past. I did not use the services of the Studio Host either, bu they were available.

Studio cabins are very poplar. It is a nice space for a single traveler. I did not think that I would like the, but I do. I have just booked a Studio for two weeks over Christmas.

I just checked the price of stock as of a few minutes ago was $50.52.

Maybe I can add the photo to this post...

According to the Port of Astoria web cam, The Star went under the Astoria Bridge at 8:54 A.M. heading upriver. The weather looks really good. She might be able to make some time up depending on how long it will take to board a River Pilot and how much traffic is already in the River.
-
If She is just headed across the Bar,the Port of Astoria web cam should be picking her. I just checked that web cam and did not see anything yet.
-
I just checked Her Bow Web Cam, looks like a very rough Columbia River Bar crossing. That Bar can be down right dangerous. Once they cross the Bar, hopefully the journey upriver will be smoother. It should take 4 to 6 hours to reach Portland. They will have to drop off the Bar Pilot in Astoria and pick up a River Pilot. That might take a bit also.

I purchased a transfer from Norwegian from the port to the airport for my cruise in May.

With all the changes at NCL, I was not who is still around. I know Denis is still around but haven't heard much from Klaus. Anyone know if he is still with NCL?
Denis and Klaus are both with the Company and both traveling from ship to ship a lot.

Thanks for the feedback. We did take travel insurance and we are receiving our port fees back but just wanted NCL to still honor our BOGO it sounds confusing but we needed this celebration 4 day cruise badly.:(

What are the chances of these being the same for our cruise in a little over 2 months? Does the staff normally change after a repositioning cruise?
The Jewel leaves Houston on April 18th repositioning for the Alaska cruise season. Our cruise on May 7th is the first of the season. Any idea who the staff will be or is it too early to find out?

We are staying in Seattle the night before, possibly a couple days before.
Depending on where you are staying, they may have a shuttle to the ship. As long as you are on board by 1:30 P.M, you will be fine. I hope you and your family have a great cruise. I know that I will on my cruise this spring.
-
We are leaving from Seattle on the Jewel, with a 4:00 departure.
What time should I arrive, and what is open on the ship when we get on?
Are you staying in Seattle the night before the cruise? Lots of things to see and do near the Port of Seattle.
There is a commuter train link from the airport to the downtown area. Seattle is built on a series of hills similar to San Francisco. The Port of Seattle terminal is located at Pier 66 at the bottom off Bell Street on the northern edge of the waterfront area.

I think that people have intentions of attending the M&G's and then loss track of the time. M&G"s are usually held late morning of the first Sea Day. People get busy with other things on the ship or sleep really late and just forget. It is be to the person hosting the Roll Call to arrange raffles, gift exchanges and other activities NOT the ship's staff. On my last cruise, the place for th M&G was changed at the last minute due to a scheduling conflict for the space.

I am about to leave for my 23rd Norwegian cruise, for mean it is the staff. No matter which ship you choose to sail, that staff is outstanding.

Since other NCL ships have O'Sheehans already, they will probably continue with the name change. Do you have information to the contrary ?
From a very reliable source that I WILL NOT NAME, Kevin's name is to be removed.

I would doubt since Mr. Sheehan has resigned from Norwegian almost 3 weeks ago, that Blue Lagoon's name will change.
NCL Cruise Critic meetings
in Norwegian Cruise Line
Posted
Go to Norwegian Roll Calls, look for your ship and then your cruise and sign up for the Meet and Greet for cruise.
Generally they are held on the morning of the first sea day of your cruise about 11 A.M. The ship provides a place, coffee, tea, juices and pastries. They are organized by someone on the Roll Call. Meet and Greets are considered a private event and not listed in the Freestyle Daily.
Welcome to Cruise Critic and the world of cruising.
