  1. Unfortunately plenty of people would be hard pressed to accomplish that. Question for a traveling companion—no problem getting the scooter through the door on regular cabins? Regarding the strollers in hallways. It sure would be a bummer if someone had a little too much to drink and “accidentally” spilled something in there.
  2. This was long ago and not Long Beach. However, my instructions were to ask for a supervisor and give them my name. As people here have suggested, I went to the first person I saw at the entrance and gave them my name and said that special needs told me to ask for a supervisor. Worked like a charm! The supervisor came to meet us, whisked us through the whole process and escorted us all the way to guest services on the ship. (We needed an alternate to the alternate muster drill.) Having travelled a lot with a special needs child, Carnival rivals Disney in how they assist with special needs. No one else has come close.
  3. My drinks are usually pretty quiet. Some clinking ice is as loud as they get. What are your drinks so busy doing? When I get on the ship, I have to tell myself that I am on vacation and therefore what other people do won’t bother me. The repeated announcements definitely get annoying though! And my “not your problem” mantra has limited success when people are rude to other people like rushing in front of someone in a wheelchair to get on the elevator or being unpleasant to the crew.
  4. Took me a bit but I got to the end. What a lovely report on your cruise. Your family seems very fun and laid back. Haven’t been on Royal in about six years but am sailing Voyager in Feb so it was cool to see your ship pictures as I know they are very similar. Thanks so much!
  5. That’s my current pet peeve actually 😂 I want to book a cruise with my two young adult sons for November. They don’t love the MDR so the included food on Carnival is a good fit for us as is the variety of comedy. There are MANY cruises on other lines for 5-6 days that are significantly cheaper than 4 day cruises on Carnival.
  6. Very nice! Is the itinerary the same all three weeks.
  7. Maybe they don’t want my money?? I’ve been trying since the website update to book a cruise but at some point in the process, it glitches and tells me they can’t process my request. I have erased cookies and wiped my browser history and done everything else my computer programmer/website developer husband can think to do with no progress. I have a PVP but processing things I hear is harder for me and I’d prefer to look at cabin location etc online. My first choice cruise has sold out in the meantime. ☹️
  8. I have had it frequently. I like it because it’s lighter/less sweet than a lot of drinks but it’s not straight take your breath away alcohol either. "Fresh Italian" recipe 1 1/4oz Cruzan Vanilla 1 1/4oz Aperol 1/4oz Orange Juice 1/2oz Vitality Lemonade mix 1/2oz Simple Syrup.
  9. Aha! This is finally an explanation that makes sense to me! All I have known is that if I drink ship water, I get swollen feet. But I have known for years that desalination should mean there isn’t a greater level of sodium. And yet, it seemed the proof was in the pudding. Or rather, the swollen feet. I wonder if I bring magnesium supplements on board and eat a lot of bananas if I’ll be fine. I’m not planning to find out, honestly but I have learned something new today.
  10. This is nuts! I’d love to go on a cruise next month. However, the darn website keeps running into problems. If I see “we’re sorry. We can’t process your request” one more time, I’m going to throw something.
  11. Thanks. I’ve heard very good things about it, but having been to Costa Maya previously, I was unsure why snorkeling was even offered. Thought the water might be clearer where Maya Chan is. I have a newbie coming with me and want to be sure to manage expectations.
  12. We had breakfast in the MDR on Spirit when we did a B2B. They had breakfast on one level and priority on the other.
  13. Oh say it isn’t so! Finishing a good trip report is almost as bad as getting off of the ship! 🥺 Thank you for taking the time to do this. Question about Maya Chan. Is the water just sandy or do you feel like it’s dirty, like icky? And they say they include snorkel gear. Is there any chance of seeing through the water if you go farther out?
  14. Mine isn’t on there because technically she’s not gone. But for me it’s Victory. Loved the size and had several delightful cruises aboard.
  15. Thanks for the explanation. Appreciate it.
  16. My daughter is 27. She looks maybe 16. She gets carded for alcohol and has been asked her age in places where you need to be 21. (Carnival’s adults only area for one.) But never in somewhere for 18 and above. 16 and 18 are too close to judge by appearance alone, and I doubt anyone would ask. I understand though that you don’t want to encourage your daughter lie. It might be possible to contact Royal’s special needs department and register or list her as a caregiver to her grandma thereby granting her access to areas she takes her.
  17. I’m confused. Your first two posts above state that speaking another language in front of guests is not allowed. Then you acknowledge that JH has talked about this before after a post in which he says they have to speak to guests in English but is clearly endorsing them speaking in their native language to each other. Did I totally misunderstand the previous posts?
  18. My son came down with Covid in Feb on day three of our five day cruise. They offered to move me to a different cabin which I didn’t want. The kid was miserable and I couldn’t imagine leaving him alone. (He’s 21 but still…) As long as I had no symptoms, I did not have to quarantine and only he received a FCC for those last two days. He also got Wi-Fi, extended free room service etc. I still spent the vast majority of the next two days in our room with him. He did not receive Paxlovid on the ship (though we both did end up getting an Rx once we were back in FL. I tested positive the day after we got home.) The test for Covid was $125 though they would do a flu test for free. They gave him Vitamin C, an antihistamine, throat lozenges, Tylenol and a decongestant for free. The stores don’t carry any cold related OTC meds.
  19. Wow! That is one wild dining room! Can you explain the room that either had a very big Frankenstein’s monster or very small furniture? What a wonderful balcony especially for Alaska. Good catch on that!
  20. That’s a bummer. It’s hard not to count on the ports in the itinerary even though we all know things can change.
  21. Carnival is quite firm on this. Even with someone being pregnant or having a medical reason, their stance has been that there are other things included like bottled water, milk shakes etc. On our last cruise, we put cash n our account in the amount that Cheers would have cost us to both get it. I don’t drink very much, I have a lot of water, a few specialty coffees and I like Coke, not Pepsi. My husband wanted the freedom of ordering whatever like you talked about. I brought on a 12 pack of Coke and we ordered water sent to the room. He was worried, whereas I knew we wouldn’t even come close to the total. I was right and we actually ended up having more than half of the money left over so it wouldn’t have even been worth it for him on that trip.
  22. Thanks for taking us along with you Megan! Hoping the situation of the last day doesn’t sour your memory of the rest of the cruise.
  23. I shall suggest this to my husband. He is in charge of merging the websites and databases of newly purchased companies into a very large health insurer. He can abdicate his own responsibilities and blame a website glitch. This will make his job so much easier! Sierra Mist is gone. Starry has arrived because Pepsi wanted to sound like the Walmart of soda. My son and I were on a cruise right after they switched. On the cruise he got Covid and was allowed any room service he wanted. Depending on who answered the phone, you either had to order Starry or Sierra Mist. The switch did not compute for any of them. It was one or the other and if you said the wrong thing, they didn’t know what you wanted. 😂
