  1. That is not true RCL phone system said to press this button if you have a TA .Then you talk with them . The problem with the cruise lines today vs pre pandemic is that most all phone contacts are off shore , could be people in the Phillipines ,Guatemala ,Mexico ,Caribbean ie .some have better understandable English than others . It was a easy transfer from RCL to our TA .some other lines it is paper work before transferring

  3. At one time pre pandemic X set up the Meet & Greets here on Cruise Critic . Now they do not .So we are doing out own . It is simple go to Cruise Ship Deck Plans on the internet & pic a location suitable .On our Soltice cruises ,we picked the Martini Bar ,deck 4 port side near the mid ship elevators . We ark people to wear Mardi Gras beads or a white sticker with their first name & cruise critic name for ID purposes only . You may find on Trans Atlantic Ocean cruises larger groups & all I would do then is to contact the ships coordinator via phone to Celebrity & ask permission for the larger meeting areas . You may ask for a mic ,serving of light refreshments like coffee ,tea ,water & cookies & a no host open bar . Generally speaking Meet & Greets should be done the first sea day & 10;30 to 11:30 AM seems to work the best By contacting the ships coordinator they also can invite senior officers who have tie to attend .We have found passing the mic from one person to the next for one question each works the best to senior officer staffs . We even have had the ships captains in attendance from time to time Also follow up with a personal invitation to senior staff ,at the customer relations desk upon boarding the ship . Senior Staff can be Ships Captain ,Staff Captain ,Chief Engineer , Hotel Director , Restaurant Manager , Cruise Director ie Best of Luck 😃
  4. Although I could not get to first base withRCL personnel our Travel Agency pursued this issue for us & reported back that RCL is going to give back the full credit . Our TA took over both bookings some time ago .This ends now
  5. This is going into small claims court .The process has been started ,RCL personnel must appear .If not I win hands down

  7. People defending the cruise line we got to wonder who they truly are ?? FWIW I did not cancel the 7 night cruise they did . They placed us in a very awkward position by doing this .A good will gesture of a FCC would have solved the issue ,simple . They play hardball so can I
  8. That is great for you .However does not apply to mist people .you would think that a major cruise line would tell you or are they trained to be deceptive .It can be looked at 2 ways

  10. BTW of the cruise line uses letters of NRD should they not be responsible to some where on their invoice explain what NRD means ? just wondering is that clear & legal to any consumer ?

  12. RCL sent receipts for the 2 cruises BUT neither said non refundable .We still have those receipts which say nothing about being non refundable deposits
  13. Right on spot Hank . People need to realize that any form of vacation must meet a quality .value that people are willing to pay .Anything less put forth will soon find it's demise . Just a matter of time . imo HALS over all quality has diminished a lot since reopening . There shows have never been exciting to watch if ever .Mariachi bands used for the World Stage does not substitute for a good show or specialist entertainer

We would have loved to pick new cruises .The problem there was there was none except in September & we will be getting back from a one month road trip .Thus the timing was just too tight to jump into the RCL cruise that was like the October cruise that RCL chartered . November & December are holiday months & we never will book any cruise with the kiddies being out from school . Ganuary we are booked on a 18 night Gawaii cruise & end of March we are booked on a 14 night Solar Eclipse which takes us into April . We need October of 2024 cruise that Navigator of the Seas would be doing from LA since we no longer fly .This would work for us but ,you can not even book that far in advance right now .A FCC of $200 would have been applied to 2024 of equal lengths ,7 day plus the 4 day . We would book that cruise as soon as it was available as we need a handicap cabin which sells quickly
  15. This depends on their spending habits . People who are savers & invest wisely will always have a strong income stream . We have known people who have large pension checks who live up to every cent having 2 homes to maintain drive very expensive cars ,ie .This is their life style & not geared to cruises for vacations .

  17. What letter of the law are you speaking . Here is that letter , We always book refundable because of our ages , This personal cruise consultant ,woman ,with RCL dod not tell us this was a non cancerable deposit . what makes us very angry is the way RCL turns away from people who have done many cruises with them & just because of the issues that they themselves started we get screwed . This does not make us feel warm & fuzzy with RCL . now I am thinking to make a issue with them that they will have yo appear in small claims court with no attys permitted .This in itself will give us some part satisfaction .Of course non of this needs to happen if they will just give a $200 FCC . In over 90 cruises we never seen a cruise line do this to a customer & I have been active with Cruise Critic a long time as well
  18. We used a travel agency that we have used for many years . I find even those people not wanting to help which they should . I have given them a chance ,let us down & that is the last they see of us & many friends who have booked with them . They first report they can't do any thing then when I pushed hard they changed their tune .so we shall see . But it is RCL who I have the issue with & I called them . even their resolutions dept who are now off shore people . Both RCL & Celebrity are using mostly off shore people to answer phones . They have no power at all to make any adjustments . The people in Miami headquarters insulate themselves

They must credit the $500 deposit on the cruise RCL chartered .We have many trips planed & we are not ready to book in September because we just get back from a months long road trip .all we asked was for a FCC for the $200 .I find RCL pretty dam cheap when they take our money with out earning it .further their personal cruise consultant never gave us a choice for cancerable vs non cancerable deposits .she just did what she wanted to do & i was not aware of it at that time Fact is I can take this issue further into a Calif small claims court if we want to & make RCL personnel appear because Calif small claims does not allow attorneys
  20. If the USA is having problems with getting out work visas this definitely will impact the quality of HAL's cruises . Short staff ships makes for longer wait times in the MDR as we have witnessed very long lines & long ties to place & receive the food order & staff problems in the Lido as well with tables not being cleaned & soiled dishes being left on tables for more than ordinary times .We did see all this happen
  21. We are a handicapped couple in our 80s . RCL decided to cell their Oct 23rd cruise for a charting & notifies us that this 7 night cruise is now voided , when we first booked this cruise using a RCL planner ,we added the Oct 30 ,2023 4 night cruise ro make ir a B2B . At that time the RCL cruise planner did bot tell us that the deposits were non refundable & those bookings were made last year . Now we are asking RCL to help & give us a future Cruise Credit for the $200 we paid as a deposit on the 4 night cruise . I still can;t believe that they said no even though we never sailed short cruises because one we need to load a scooter by disassembling it plus luggage & drive 2 hours each way to the cruise terminal Personally , I feel cheated because they will not even give us a $200 future cruise credit . As a diamond member with RCL & Elite Plus with Celebrity , we no longer will give them any business & will warn all our cruising friends to stay clear of this cheap company We have done over 90 cruises & never have ever faced such a cheap ,scrooge like company . Be aware of whom you book cruises
  22. And of course this is all true ? Trust me people will at some point decide what they consider value for what they spend . There is coming a awakening to reality . consumers in the USA are on average struggling to make ends meet , 70 % are living pay check to pay check . Costs continue to go higher for necessities like food ,gas ,clothing ,shelter .So where is all the future money coming from to take cruises or in fact land vacations .The money in the USA is really in the hands of those mostly retired who were savers for most of their lives . That part of the population are also looking at a need for help in their future & thus are keeping money for that help as well
  23. To fill all kinds of cruise ship jobs imo ,all lines must advertise the openings to all free nations not just a select number of nations whom they have used un prior times
  24. The airlines are essential to the life line of the USA cruise ships are not essential . Are we to believe every thing we read or hear on media or even social media ? I certainly don't .Have we all been lied to yes we all have .So each person needs to draw their own line in the sand
