The antidote , to flights being delayed ,,read your insurance policies .They all have number of days to reject or keep them .Trip delays & trip interruptions do happen . Because of the foregoing plus the much higher prices & difficulties of flying in general ,we no longer fly . We have done our share & personally I lived out of planes & hotels when I was working & back then it was pleasurable to fly with better everything including the food

We love the relaxed look , Makes ir so much easier to pack . Love my Hawaiian shirts over trousers & at times i bring a sweater because the restaurants could be a bit chilly

Going to puerto vallarta, get ready to tender
mcrcruiser replied to Florida_gal_50's topic in Holland America Line
Absolutely correct . This is the port that is very convenient for Wal Mart which you can usually see from the ship ,so it is close . PV is a neat port to get to the walk with the statues & the shops across the street .Then there is the Cathedral & Square . During December they celebrate OurLady of Gradalupe Feast day & have a show of Native Indians & Mexican dancers dressed in their costumes . One year I cam corder the entire performance .To this day it was the very best performance we have ever seen in Mexico or on the ships we have sailed there many times .There was a restaurant in the downtown area that had life sized statues of Liz Taylor & Richard Burton . -
Going to puerto vallarta, get ready to tender
mcrcruiser replied to Florida_gal_50's topic in Holland America Line
On one of our past cruises ,into Cabo San Lucas ,a tender port ,there was a terrible accident .A elderly ladies slipped between the tender & the tender dock of the ship she was in quiet a lot of pain , Many times seas have even small swells & not all the tender drivers are that experienced . We experienced that condition on a Celebrity cruise going into a Hawaii tender port . The person in charge of the tenders is usually the Staff Captain -

HAL continuing to downgrade its product
mcrcruiser replied to DaveOKC's topic in Holland America Line
We do bot believe that HAL is cutting back greatly . There may be cit backs due to labor ir supply chain shortages ,mat thus time but looking at the future cruise prices they are going higher not lower ,especially Alaska ,Panama Canal & some other itineraries we have recently seen -
Tip for Room Service--After Covid, Inflation
mcrcruiser replied to Naismith's topic in Holland America Line
Every person has their own ideas of what is a appropriate gratuity for in room service delivery of food . As long as you tip it is always appreciated by the staff . It is some what like extra tipping before the start of the cruise for the cabin stewards ,a good way to get the very best in service .It gets around who are the extra tiers .These people know -

No Public Parking at San Diego Cruise Pier
mcrcruiser replied to mcrcruiser's topic in West Coast Departures
Do you know if that free shuttle van can take a scooter ? TIA -
We have found paying by the bag is our best bet .We can roll & fit a lot in that one $20 bag of wash On Celebrity we get free wash as one of our perks twice a week bags of wash .Seems to me we can get free wash when we get to 4 star Mariner among the other better perks
-
We agree .Seems to me as we did the math with the added flexibility ,we were better off with just buying the stateroom for any cruise .I plan & design many private tours with far fewer pax involved . I have done this on the last 50 cruises of our 87 past cruises . first off I limit most tours to 12 people & the yours are all customized to the likes & desires of the small group . This gives us a far better tour than any cruise lines yours .Additionally ,we are not big drinkers ,a glass of wine at dinner is sufficient for us . We do do many speciality dinners vx the MDR food
-
Unlike the San Pedro ,California ,(Los Angeles county ) World Cruise Center with massive parking ,the SD cruise pier has no public parking facilities . Either park in hotel parking at their rate ,like the Wyndam hotel across from the pier or Bayfront hotels like Hilton underground parking also on Harbor drive across from the pier . Because of disabilities ,we have some one drive us to the pier & pick us up . We have a knock down scooter in the trunk of that car we use on the cruise ship ,There is now a collapsable scooter on the market weighing 53 lns that will hold up to a 275 lb. person

Pre-paying crew tips-is this rate fair for the crew?
mcrcruiser replied to steve4031's topic in Holland America Line
Don't over look the fact that now the 18% tips are now automatically added & included in your bill when dining at the speciality restaurants . Yes ,we have added extra compensation when any staff helps us have a better vacation ,especially for our being handicapped -
Crew Masks optional on Adventure
mcrcruiser replied to trenton107's topic in Royal Caribbean International
imo at least the covid & fu virus are definitely out there . Cruise ships are petrie dishes . Although passengers & crew are not wearing masks ,we will still use them KN95 masks any where in public in doors .If a server of food or drinks is not wearing their masks we will & wait until they leave to remove our masks . Seems to me that the crew quarters are much closer together & if one gets covid then it will spread rather quickly .so we just don't get the logic of no masks But ,we don't follow what others do any way .It is their business not ours . We are in our 80s & as we age our immune systems decline or if a younger person has any illness of length their immune system also suffers There is no sure fire way for every one ,especially on any cruise ship We also bring l lysol to spray the air vents in the cabin & sleep with the sliding door ajar for fresh sir We had omincron & know what it did to us for many weeks ,so we are ultra careful whether on a ship or in any store on land -

Thanks for 😀 your reply .We thought that is the case . so I posed another question out in this forum wether we can still order the Chops steaks in the MDR & what is the current cost -
We will be sailing next October doing a B2B cruise on Navigator of the Seas .since it has been many years since we sailed this class ship ,has RCL added any things for the daily entertainment like additional shows ,comedians in both the main showroom & other rooms .What about the word games in small groups ? TIA

Alaska inside passage cruises are generally a very gentle cruise .Thus ,any location in my mind is fine . your pocket book should determine choice of cabin & location . That being said any cruise can hit rough waters ,so there is never a guarantee ,My DW takes dramamine right before the ship moves & she is fine the whole cruise Once we were on a 73000 ton vessel returning from Hawaii to SD & hit into 30 to 40 foot waves ,a following sea .my DW was fine & we had a rear facing balcony cabin .what a sight to see those waves & following sea
