  1. Yes, notify your bank. Also only use a credit card that doesn't have a foreign transaction fee. Many do. As to debit cards, I never use them. Almost impossible to reverse a wrong transaction, at least not quickly and your money comes out of your account immediately.
  2. Agree. And I get the currency in small denominations. Find I almost need to use ATMs but am prepared to do so.
  3. It was good. Took it in October on the Canal transit cruise. Find that most of the countries in tge areas, whether on Pacific side or Caribbean side show great poverty. Pretty depressing.
  4. So none of you went to the Oxcart factory with the coffee plantation? Good tour. Included nice lunch.
  5. Sorry! We watched you arriving. Our bus was only a half nour late. Tree down so driver backed up in the opposite lane until he could find a place to turn around. Guess we had it easy.
  6. Our cruise ended in Tampa on 10/23. Sailed from San Diego on 10/7 if I remember correctly.
  7. We're there on Radiance for the Canal transit in October. Dh thinks there were vendors but we didn't stop as it was raining. Not the weather for wandering. Some of the tours returned to the ship late due to mudslides and downed trees. Buses had to be sent to rescue passengers. All aboard was 9:30 pm with sailaway at 10. Last passengers arrived at 10:20! Saw police cars bringing other passengers who got stuck.
  8. Which Empress cruise in 2002? We sailed the repositioning April to May 2002. San Juan to NYC. 1st ship with passengers allowed into NYC after 9/11. Immigration didn’t know what to do with us. Officers sent to Bermuda to do Immigration checks on the day up to NYC. Only problem was 2 of the 4 agents got seasick! Then they decided to x-ray all the luggage coming off, which as you can imagine took a too much time. (Very different then x-rays before boarding where the arrival is more spread out.) Good. cruise though.
  9. Yes I see that now. Obviously the Spring 2024 cruises are first. Hopefully by October things will be better, or at least we can hope.
  10. Ok, about 20 mins away, though I head that way sometimes.
  11. Cousins in Nashville? We live just off West End Ave, not far from Vanderbilt.
  12. Ok. So she may need to be rerouted. Actually she can be routed through the Panama Canal, though those slots are booked way in advance, or around South America. What was her scheduled itinerary?
  13. Left Plano in 1983, though still visit friends in Dallas. Manhattan 1969-1973. Tiny apartment in Inwood.
  14. ? Isn't Anthem sailing out of Cape Liberty now? The concern is for ships scheduled to sail through the Red Sea and Suez Canal in the near future..
  15. NY was Queens growing up, LI at SUNY SB for college. Dh went to graduate school at City. Left NY in 1973. Then Atlanta, Plano, TX, Pittsfield, MA, Parsippany, NJ. Nashville since 2018 is home when not traveling.
  16. No, change occurred more than 7 years ago.
  17. Not everyone. Some folks board later or earlier. Someone on board now will be departing at end of 2nd leg I think and reboarding for the last leg.
  18. We had old bills. There was a place in Southampton traded them for us. Sorry don't recall the place. No fee. Dh said he thinks it was Hudsons post office type place. Can't believe you got those recently. Ours were in 2017.
  19. I call the bank (wells Fargo) so I get the small denominations I want. Pick up at local branch, though I think they'd mail them to me. Really easy. I have used atms in various countries as needed. Only need currency for tips and small purchases.
  20. Thanks. Surprised. Golfers bring golf clubs. I don’t doubt you but will confirm. She wasn't happy with the skates at Rockefeller Center. Not a professional but she does skate.
