need help with customer service (they raised the price)
Shippy replied to Illbcruzn4life's topic in MSC Cruises
You lost me when you were talking about the port charges. The cruise lines do not set those & cannot jack up the rate but sometimes the port charges do change...but because the PORT does so. -
Leaving a cruise MSC one port early in USA
Shippy replied to dandanthecruisinman's topic in MSC Cruises
We wanted to do that once in San Francisco. We were told no because no customs were scheduled for that ship for that day. -
!st...after final payment, you will probably have a chance to bid up to a better class cabin. 2nd...We have used the same Internet TA for decades. I can go on their website AND PICK MY OWN CABIN ! I hold it and THEN call to confirm everything. Some people are under the impression that if you use an Internet site that you cannot speak directly to someone. That is not true. ALSO, many years ago, someone asked for the name of my agent. Inadvertently, I posted it. Shortly after that, I received a slap on the hand from cruisecritic & a warning that if I did that again, I would be forever banished from this site :O(

Live Seascape YC (7/9-7/16): A Celebrity Loyalist Jumps Ship
Shippy replied to GenerationX's topic in MSC Cruises
We had been on the Divina before & all announcements were in 5 languages. This is a VERY European line so there will probably be several languages on most cruises. I got a little lost in post about the YC back up on Embarkation. I assume that it was in Miami (?) We have done that a half dozen times, usually arriving a bit before 11 am & although there were others there, there were enough butlers so we never had a problem . Sorry your embarkation was not as smooth as ours have always been.....that has always been a great way for us to begin a cruise ! -
The Divina has a YC2 category which I do not think the other ships have. MUCH bigger than a YC1 yet cheaper than the RS or OS

Yacht Club Suite Advice for a Celebrity Refugee
Shippy replied to Whinenowine's topic in MSC Cruises
Not sure if the floor plan is the same as the Seashore, but if it is...you can youtube Seashore cabin 19028. Great cabin.....for 2 ! The sofa bed looks more like a love seat size. and right in front of the balcony door. Get 2 cabins & enjoy your cruise. Better than saving $$$ & having everyone trip on each other. Another thing about most cabin bathrooms. There never seems to be a place to properly hang wet towels, which is fine for 2 but a mess for 4 unless 2 shower in the morning & 2 in the evening. -
Forget about nice shoes. Wish I could wear sparkly sandals :O( We cruise all the time. My feet are in horrid shape from arthritis. I can hardly wear ladies sandals anymore so most of the time I wear men's sandals....no one seems to care on the ship. I am just thank full that I can still walk :O)

Please say that is not so :O(

I would call the casino number & ask !

Meraviglia: Balcony Fantastica cabin versus YC inside
Shippy replied to DonnaK's topic in MSC Cruises
If you play in the casino, you will probably get the coveted 30% off your next cruise coupon. They give that to most any player (slots) that goes in daily. 30% off the Yacht Club :O) -
Meraviglia: Balcony Fantastica cabin versus YC inside
Shippy replied to DonnaK's topic in MSC Cruises
I have found the YC cabins a bit underwhelming BUT.... it is all about the experience. The private pool deck is gigantic. We have been on several of the different ships & they are never crowded. The outside buffet there is excellent. The lounge also seems very large considering the number of YC guests. Of course, all alcohol is included but even if you are a non drinker, the comfort & views from the lounge are great. They always have some kind of snacks in there. In the evening, they have always had Venci chocolates. I hope that is so on our Seascape cruise next month. The food in the YC restaurant rivals any of the pay ones. You might think you do not need a butler but they are very handy if you have any issues. Boarding is a dream as you do toy have to enter the port with the masses. Just go to the tent outside & you will immediately be escorted to a nice waiting room. Same with disembarkation. We always leave taking all our luggage off ourselves.. You meet in the lounge. A butler holds an elevator for you & then escorts you past the hundreds waiting to get of. On there private island, there is transportation for you to get around. Great for us because we are OLD. -
as others have said, If you do the Yacht Club area on MSC, you will love it. Better than the Haven on NCL & about half the price. You cannot compare it to having a regular cabin on MSC. Just like....you cannot compare the experience of the suite on Princess with a regular cabin

I have heard this has changed & some favorite’s removed. Can someone please list the current foods that are available every day on the menu…..not the ones that change. thank you

Just got an email with casino offers. There is a box to check if you want the price to include Princess Plus.
-
I frequently get those types of emails. You might be out of luck if you do not try & book immediately after receiving the email. All offers are capacity controlled. The last one I received was for a free balcony but could upgrade to a Penthouse for $ 1,000 pp Plus $700. OBC. I waited a few days Before calling the casino department & of course, the Penthouse offer was no longer available. But he said I could do the following week if I would settle for $400. OBC & I could actually pick the cabin. I picked one right across from the suite lounge. The original offer was that they assigned the cabin to you. I gladly took that offer. SO.... my point is...if the offer you wanted is no longer available, ask the casino department if they have anything similar. The offer I took was NOT on my email offer.
-
Your offer cannot possibly be as bad as the one we got. We received our offer to bid at the end of May for our cruise next month. Currently Seascape, yacht club grand (YCP) Offer to bid for Royal suite...min bid $2500.pp Owners suite...minimum bid $5800.pp Quite a joke. We have successfully bid for upgrades on Princess 3 times for reasonable amounts.

We have cabin 19018 next month. I just youtubed a bunch of that category cabin on the Seascape. While watching one in particular...it showed the sofa bed out. The cabin seemed so spacious with the bed out that I actually wondered if it was a handicapped cabin.. It was not. BUT,,,at the end of that video, they said that cabin did NOT have the walkin closet ! Then there was another video with the same thing. The main reason I got this cabin instead of the YC1 was because of the closet. Has anyone stayed in 19018 & can tell me ??? not that I can do anything now because there are no more available. I would just rather find out now the when I board. I was under the impression they all had the walkin closet. thanks

You used to be able to use the 30% on a YC3 cabin. That has been stopped. Hope they do not put any other restrictions.

How is the bidding system doing? Any comments?
Shippy replied to Bwana Tom's topic in Princess Cruises
We have won bids accepted on 3 different cruises. I always did $20. over the minimum. -
Just how much of a problem ARE interlopers in the YC?
Shippy replied to mafig's topic in MSC Cruises
This makes no sense to me. I am sure you did not pay the same price for your airplane seat as the person next to you. Does one of you get less peanuts than the other :O) -
People flying in to San Francisco must realize that the San Francisco airport is NOT in San Francisco :O) It is a bit more down the peninsula. Stay at a hotel there, not in the city !

Thinking of trying MSC Yacht Club - need suggestions
Shippy replied to tori0417's topic in MSC Cruises
I never thought of them as a 'regular' balcony cabin....which is small. There are less than 1/2 dozen YC2/3,RS/OS on any of these ships. SO....I would have thought the rest to be larger. I think the average is about 300 sq. ft -
I agree with Wishing...I think the bidding system has done away with automatic upgrades.
