Interesting concept.. will keep this in mind for future reference. Thank you

Thank you for your input, especially the one ticket..our flights have always been either domestic or easy non-stops to/from Europe. Flying to NZ is new to us and a bit daunting but I think I have a handle now on what we need to do.

For those of you with an annual travel insurance plan. What are the limitations of length of cruise with your policy? If you exceed the policy trip size limitation can you supplement? we are looking at a 39- 45 day cruise but have other bookings of less than 30 days each. thank you joan

We will not be using points or miles. Forgive me, I am not sure I understand the relevance is to the best flight routes and length of flights. Am I missing something?

Hi there, we are considering a cruise in NZ (never been) and the idea of flying there is daunting. If you have flown to NZ , what were your experiences and recommended airlines...looking for ideas to keep manageable as far as number of hours in a plane...multiple stops, Hawaii possibly? What has your experience been? Thank you

Fruit crisp (and other hidden foods)

Thank you !! I had no idea that they had a separate vegetarian menu. We have recently changed to plant based diet and appreciate this information! -
Fruit crisp (and other hidden foods)
pmjnh replied to Silverspringcruiser's topic in Holland America Line
My DH is crisp-a-holic...he has been known to ask regularly and always gets delivered..sometimes he doesn't even have to ask (thats one reason we like set dining times, the waiters know you). He has recently become a more plant based diet person and the last cruise had sliced fresh fruit plate for dessert every single night. I generally ask for sorbet and it is always available yet not always on the menu....creme brûlée as well . -
@Monarda55 We did a side by side cruise earlier this year. Both ships HAL ..there were 24 people on the ship who did the same. They assigned us last group off the ship , we collected our luggage like all other passengers in the departure hall. and actually provided a bus for us to the next pier. It was the shortest bus ride I have ever experienced! They considered us "in transit" and were checked in swiftly and bypassed all waiting in the hall for embarkation. It was a remarkably thorough process. Enjoy!

Holland America Last Minute Cruise Deals 50 % Off & $100 OBC
pmjnh replied to mcrcruiser's topic in Holland America Line
I checked in on sailing I have been following, which was on the list of sailings that qualify.......this new deal "offered" is the same price it was a month ago. I cleared my cookies and still the same price...then I logged in for "special pricing" ..nope...still the same price. 🙄 -
we have been on 5 cruises this year and they were all at 9:30 ish

I agree 100% in this! I live in Maine and I have never had a lobster on a ship that tastes like Maine lobster.

We were recently on the Oosterdam and Executive Chef Willem had this question posed to him from am audience member during a chat with the CD. He said that the difference between the steaks in the specialty restaurants vs the MDR was just as in our grocery...Prime vs Choice cuts. That said, the beef in the MDR on that sailing was excellent with the exception of the NY sirloin which I find they always cut too thin and easy to overcook.

We just disembarked the Oosterdam and Victoria and David were the Billboard pianists. We couldn't sit through much. They were both out of pitch a lot, but especially Victoria. I recall enjoying George and Lena on the Koningsdam earlier this year. My favorite was the single pianist on the Zaandam in February. I dont recall her first name but her last name was Lamb. She was fabulous, always had a crowd in that lounge.

We just booked a cruise while onboard the Oosterdam. We had the email with the promo code and they would not let us use it for that booking because it was not combinable with the obc for booking on board..by the time I was able to reach my TA, the date had expired.

Sending cold wash/low heat/no iron clothes to laundry
pmjnh replied to OHCruiser's topic in Holland America Line
We have had only good luck with this type of instructions. I always write "wash cold, low heat" as safest bet...or "no iron" on a particular item. yes, they iron everything ..I even think they even iron socks ...at least they come back flat and creased and look ironed! That said, I have a "blingy" top that I don't dare send..I just rinse it in the sink, wrap in a towel and hang dry. Hand soap or a drop or 2 of shower gel make for easy rinse out.. -
Sounds great but for so many of these offers they raise the price on one end and offer the new perks...not always a money saver. (disclaimer-I live with an accountant 🫣)

We were lucky to have experienced GB twice on a BTB this July. In our experience, whenever there has been a port change while on a cruise, there has been adjustments on our statement...this far out, not sure how that works.

Sending cold wash/low heat/no iron clothes to laundry

We have had only good experiences with the laundry services. I always request cold water, low heat for tops and everything comes back perfect. -
I agree..the hospitals in that regions are bracing for the worst. I would not want to be left behind in that region.
