You really can't miss the pickup point, assuming it doesn't change from what I experienced last October. It is just at the base of the People Mover. You'll see it upon exiting. I've tried to circle the area here:

Thanks!  I was thinking going right.  You saved me much confusion!

We wanted to do the bus because we had purchased the 24 bus pass and figured we would take advantage of it to its fullest extent.

Gotcha!  We were planning on the 24 hour bus pass as well but thinking of taking it from the airport at 1 and then use it the next morning to go into venice and then pay for a fare back since it will have expired.  That way we can do the taxi to Tronchetto.  We have the shuttle back to the airport from Royal on the lst day. This logistics  are giving me a headache for sure.

I think I kind of went silent towards the end of the review and did not really tie it up with a bow.  The hotel in Mestre we stayed at was great. If I were to do it again though, I would probably take the shuttle from the airport as getting the bags to the bus at Tronchetto was a bit of a slog from the bus stop and it was difficult to get a taxi not the way back.

How did you book the hotel shuttle from the airport to the hotel?  Was there enough room on the bus for you luggage. We have  a group of 12 so taxis my be best.  Did you have to go on the people mover.  I think we are going to follow your lead, drop of bags, get the bus, get the boat to St Marks eat and then sleep.  We are there for 2 days so plenty of time.

And just like that, we were done with London.  Between Amsterdam and London, I have never done so much walking in my life. My feet are on constant fire, but it was very much worth it. 🙂

Our flight to Venice was scheduled out of Gatwick this morning at 6:40AM. We had prebooked an Uber for 3:10 AM for £73.  Flight was great and once again I slept most of the flight.  When we landed in Venice, there were machines all over the place where we could turn our bus/vaporetto voucher into a ticket.  We just had to scan the QR code from the email receipt and the tickets printed.

Our hotel shuttle driver was waiting for us right outside of baggage. It was a short 10 minute or do drive to the hotel,  Hilton Garden Inn Venice Mestre San Giuliano. Our room was not ready yet so we stored our bags with conceriege and headed to the bus stop in front of the hotel to head into Venice. IMG_3205.thumb.jpeg.57b24b6a1191b40152608dbbdc5c0917.jpeg

This is the bus stop in relation to the hotel. It could not have been more convenient.

We took the bus across the bridge and then took a vaparetto to St Marks square. This is a beautiful city and I took tons of photos.

There was a free shuttle to your hotel?  I just commented on your venice ports of call post as well.

I am heading to Venice next month and trying to figure out local transportation and I am a bit confused and hoping for some help!

We are going to be sailing on the Explorer of the Seas out of Ravenna on June 11.  We are arriving in Venice early on the 10th and will be staying in Mestre at the Hilton Garden Inn Venice Mestre San Giuliano.  There is a public transport stop directly in front of the hotel.  We are planning on spending the day exploring the island and are looking at booking a 24 hr transport pass to hopefully cover the transportation 1) From hotel to the island 2) vaparettos in Venice 3) Transportation back to hotel and 4) transportation from hotel to Tronchetto in the morning to take the shuttle to the port. Shuttles from the airport to the hotel and from Tronchetto to Ravenna are already covered.

It appears at first glance that the ACTV 1 day Transport VENEZIA DAILY PASS is what we need and will cost 50 euros for 2.  Before buying, I want to make sure that what it covers actually includes what we are looking for.  Can anyone confirm this will be able to get us back & forth to the hotel?

Screenshots below show what the pass includes and a map showing the station in front of the hotel.

    Thank you in advance!

We are looking at this hotel as well.  We are outpriced on venice.  Did you find that this worked?  How did it work with your luggage getting Tronchetto?

  6. 32 minutes ago, edinburgher said:

Not really.  Tronchetto is the huge parking area which serves Venice. If you look at a map of Venice you will see Tronchetto out on a limb to the west side and St Marks Square off to the east side, a longish walk with luggage and becoming increasingly more crowded the closer you get to St Marks Square. Not recommended.

Ideally I think you want a hotel on Piazzale Roma, a transport hub.  You can get the airport bus to there, (frequent, inexpensive and quite a fast ride) and transfer to Tronchetto by the People Mover also  from there, or by taxi (with 11 in the group you would probably need 3 or 4). From Piazzale Roma you can also catch a vaporetto to St Marks Square which is a fair way across the city so you would not want to schlep luggage all that way especially in a group of 11.  Piazzale Roma gives you easy access to airport transfers and to Tronchetto and with vaporetti available for your sightseeing.

There have been multiple threads about Venice hotels.  Use the SEARCH tool under your username to find them.

You may also want to  browse this excellent website for other Venice info. It has been highly recommended for a number of years.

Thank you. I have been searching for hotels and such but this is the best concise information you have provided as far as logistics.  However when I put Piazzale Roma in google maps it shows a spot near Treviso which has been throwing me off.  I now see where it is.  I think I am booking Hotel Al Ponte Mocenigo which seems to be aobut a 15 walk or water taxi ride. A little farther from the tronchetto station but the price is reasonabale and the reivews are good.

In Venice we really liked the Al Ponte Mocenigo... in a quiet area and had an excellent breakfast in a nice courtyard.

In Florence, our hotel was not very memorable, so I can't make a recommendation....

    Have fun !

For venice, how easy was it to get to Tronchetto station as we are getting the shuttle to ravenna?

  8. This is the first time to Venice and we have a large group of 12.  Trying to get all the information for the group. Any recomendations for hotels?

We have to be at Tronchetto bus station at 9:30. I was thinking of booking a hotel close to Tronchetto so we can walk to the RCCL shuttle. Is that necessary or is it not too bad of a walk if we stay closer to St Marks square.  We have no mobility issues.  Any recomendations for hotels?

If we do the water shuttle or water taxi or bus  from the airport does it drop off close to Tronchetto?

    Thanks!

  9. Sorry about your situation.

I would reach out via social media, twitter or facebook and ask the question about catching the cruise at a later port.  That way you have it in writing.

Does the health questionnaire still ask if you have had close contact with someone who had flu, noro or covid?

We are Pinnacle but haven't sailed RCI since May 2018.  Please help me out with a few Pinnacle questions.

Do P's still get sit down breakfast in a specialty restaurant?

    Yes

I believe P's still get the 3 "gifts" per cruise.

If not in a suite, P's no longer get suite lounge access with free drinks during happy hours, right? They sometimes can access Suite lounge depending on the numbers, but vouchers have to be used.

P's do get 6 free drinks per day.

Are there any P specialty meals, as lunch with an officer used to include very nice filets, shrimp cocktail, etc.?

Yes on sailing over 7 days.

On Oasis class, P's may get reservations for dinner in CK space available?

    Correct

Do P's still get access to the suite sun deck on those ships?

    Yes.

    Thanks for any information.
