  1. Please, do not be upset... you've been given valuable answers to a legitimate question. No one was implying otherwise. If you are a seasoned cruiser, you know that food is readily available everywhere, and hopefully your grandson will be as cautious as you. I could see a nine year old perhaps grabbing the wrong type of cookie and the result could be scary.
  2. Sigh... 24 years of being on Cruise Critic and still this battle wages on. That poor dead horse is done.
  3. When EVERYONE has priority, then there is no priority!
  4. What Hank said... ⬆️ I simply cannot comprehend not having a basic cell phone in this day and age. Those who refuse to have one really don't grasp the many ways it would be helpful, and not just in travel.
  5. @habhold It is not necessary (or prudent) to sign your full name and location when posting on Cruise Critic. I'm hoping the moderators will remove that information. 😲
  6. Why?? The terminal and parking lot is quite large, and the surrounding area is rather bleak. It's LA. The Uber/Lyft price difference would be negligible for the "walk off".
  7. Pete: Quite the deviation from your planned itinerary, but not surprising at all. How is the mood onboard regarding this and the compensation offered? Upbeat? Complacent? Grumbly?
  8. You can view the letter in Pete's GWV thread (The-Inside-Cabin).
  9. So many memories of DH & I driving a few hours south of San Diego to (what was then) the small fishing village of Puerto Nuevo, Baja for the best loobster ever! Dozens of mom & pop restaurants, all serving the same thing... loobster, beans, rice, fresh tortillas. Add on a few Pacificos, and the bill (for two) was about $20. Then, we'd spend the night at La Fonda or Calafia, which had authentic restaurants. Ahhhh, good times!
  10. Yes, a $1500 difference in ticket prices totally makes sense. Have you looked at a 10:22 flight for the next day? It will probably be the same $$ (or close), so perhaps just spring for a hotel, see some of Seattle, and take the stress out of this all together.
  11. Please check the port schedule and see how many ships may be disembarking on the same day. Your "priority" may be shared with a few thousand others, all trying to get to SeaTac. Can you make it? Will you make it? Yes? No? No one here can give you any guarantees, so it's completely up to you and your willingness to gamble.
  12. Not to be nosy, but why Carlsbad? Hopefully not for cruise lodging, as it's quite a ways from the downtown San Diego Port. But to answer your question, either Lyft or Uber would be the most logical choice.
  13. As said, 30 minutes prior is typical. If you are looking at private excursions, any reputable vendor will check your ship schedule when booking and confirm it with you. Their reputation depends on getting you back to the ship on time.
  14. The original post was from a while ago. If you're wanting a current Feb 14 roll call, go to the Holland roll call board.
  15. Both of these vendors are reputable and will most definitely return you to your ship on time. That is their job! They will ask for your ship name and will reference your ship's schedule when booking with them.
  16. The beauty about seeing Alaska is FEELING Alaska! You WANT to be moving around the ship all day, every day. It's not about staying in your cabin, or in a cabana, and hopefully not parked in the Crow's Nest! Get outside, take your binoculars, and see the beautiful sites or you will surely miss what you paid for!
  17. If you've been following the various threads from the GWC, you'll see that the Captain has already issued a letter to the passengers on this issue. It was just a general statement, with nothing conclusive at this date. But since you've asked for thoughts? My thought is you'll be heading south around the cape.
  18. Tour operators are VERY cognizant of ship's departure times (even with passengers from various ships). They will (usually) ask when you book with them WHICH ship you are on, so that their tours will adequately fit your ship's schedule.
  19. But keep in mind that the 25% discount will be nearly negated by an 18% gratuity on that bottle...
  20. It's too early to make reservations, I believe they will open after final payment.
  21. It's my impression that StockPerks simply processes the request and HAL applies the credit(s). If I had multiple bookings, or a longer cruise, the appropriate credits would apply (hopefully!)
